Abstract:AIM: This paper applies Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Model to the challenges of understanding and motivating employees in a rapidly changing health care industry.BACKGROUND: The perspective that Maslow's Model brings is an essential element that should be considered as the health care arena is faced with reorganization, re-engineering, mergers, acquisitions, increases in learning demands, and the escalating role of technology in training.EVALUATION: This paper offers a new perspective related to how Maslow's Model, as used in business/organizational settings, can be directly related to current workforce concerns: the need for security and freedom from stress, social belongingness, self-esteem, self-actualization, altered work/social environments, and new opportunities for learning and self-definition.KEY ISSUES: Changes in health care will continue at an accelerated pace and with these changes will come the need for more and more training. The use of technology in training has heightened access, faster distribution, innovation and increased collaboration. However, with this technology come attendant challenges including keeping up with the technology, the increased pace of training, depersonalization, and fear of the unknown. The Maslow model provides a means for understanding these challenges in terms of universal individual needs.CONCLUSION: How does one motivate employees in the face of increased demands, particularly when they are being asked to meet these demands with fewer resources? The answer is, in large part, to make the employee feel secure, needed, and appreciated. This is not at all easy, but if leaders take into consideration the needs of the individual, the new technology that provides challenges and opportunities for meeting those needs, and provides the training to meet both sets of needs, enhanced employee motivation and commitment is possible.

It seems worthwhile to amend it in such a way that it makes more sense and lines up better with other research along similar lines. Abstract:Among many existing motivational theories, perhaps Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Theories are widely known. This theory passes a message to us that once a person passes a certain level of need, he is no longer motivated by the level of motivation below. This provides an understanding that a manager or leader or motivator in the organization should know what is needed by subordinates. The need of a daily production worker with staff of managerial staff is different. To provide motivation that can improve performance to both, a motivator must provide different treatment according to their needs.

Abstract:You may be familiar with Maslow. Possibly even a fan. Alternately, you may stop listening the instant a psychologist starts spitting forth a theory. If you Google "Maslow" or his "hierarchy of wants," you'll likely see a colourful pyramid as the result. But given that this particular thinker passed away fifty years ago, what does it signify and can it really still be applicable? The present demands and the benefits of the system have altered significantly in the more than 70 years since the renowned psychologist launched his theory. Even after all this time, it's still important to think about whether Maslow's hierarchy of needs is still true. If you don't already know, in a nutshell, Maslow thought that people's needs can be neatly grouped into five categories. Each category comes into play once the needs in the previous category have been met. Greg Stocker, a Lean Advisor, says that Maslow never really talked about the hierarchy in terms of a pyramid. Instead, the diagram was made much later to make the theory clear. The goal of the study is to see how well Maslow's hierarchy of needs still works in the 21st century. For the study to come to a conclusion, it used both descriptive and analytical methods. The study also relied heavily on thematic analysis tools and both primary and secondary data sources to achieve its goals in a qualitative way.

Abstract:<p>This paper examines the impact of psychologist Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs in American management. I trace how a roster of management experts translated the hierarchy of needs into management through case studies of job redesign programs at Texas Instruments and marketing firm Young & Rubicam's management training. The hierarchy of needs resonated with management, I argue, because it seemed to offer both a concrete guide for management, with practical implications for designing management training and work structures, alongside a broader social theory that purported to explain changing social values and economic circumstances in America. For the management theorists who invoked the hierarchy of needs, the corporation served as both the prime site for people to fulfill their higher psychological needs and the ideal site to study and cultivate motivation. This article contributes to histories of psychology that show how psychology became a prominent resource in American public life.</p>

Abstract:Given the scope and intent of Maslow's work, the current textbook treatment is wanting. Therefore, an inductive exercise has been created and is o fered here to build “the road map of human nature.” This age-old, philosophic focus on our true nature has been a way to successfully engage and inspire both our students and our pedagogy. In the spirit of Maslow, the meaning of self-actualization is explored, and the understanding and managing of motivation is embedded into the larger context of leadership, for example, quality, spirituality, ethics, self-awareness, and personal growth.

Abstract:Motivating employees begins with recognizing that to do their best work, people must be in an environment that meets their basic emotional drives to acquire, bond, comprehend, and defend. So say Nohria and Groysberg, of Harvard Business School, and Lee, of the Center for Research on Corporate Performance. Using the results of surveys they conducted with employees at a wide range of Fortune 500 and other companies, they developed a model for how to increase workplace motivation dramatically. The authors identify the organizational levers that companies and frontline managers have at their disposal as they try to meet workers' deep needs. Reward systems that truly value good performance fulfill the drive to acquire. The drive to bond is best met by a culture that promotes collaboration and openness. Jobs that are designed to be meaningful and challenging meet the need to comprehend. Processes for performance management and resource allocation that are fair, trustworthy, and transparent address the drive to defend. Equipped with real-world company examples, the authors articulate how to apply these levers in productive ways. That application should not be selective, they argue, because a holistic approach gets you more than a piecemeal one. By using all four levers simultaneously, and thereby tackling all four drives, organizations can improve motivation levels by leaps and bounds. For example, a company that falls in the 50th percentile on employee motivation improves only to the 56th by boosting performance on one drive, but way up to the 88th percentile by doing better on all four drives. That's a powerful gain in competitive advantage that any business would relish.

Abstract:This paper reports on the impact of organizational change on a government department in Hong Kong. It focuses on the perceptions of professional personnel of the organizational culture developed in the depart4 ment and its mismatch with their expectations. The commitment of the professionals to their organization was measured, and found to be limited solely to a level of continuance commitment. The results of the study are discussed and explained in part by reference to Hofstede's cultural concepts of power distance and individualism, and by reference to traditional Chinese cultural values.

Abstract:Students of organization theory and administration have frequently discovered that psychology and its various subfields can provide valuable insights. This article examines the contributions of Abraham Maslow to our understanding of organizational leadership. It traces the influence of Carl Jung on the development of Maslow's ideas and explores some important parallels between Maslow's notion of selfactualization and Jung's concept of individuation. The author discusses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a recent extension of Jung's work on personality types, and its contributions to understanding the psychology of organization leadership. Finally, he offers some hypotheses as to why more fully evolved, self-actualizing individuals are not more frequently drawn to the ranks of management.

Abstract:The conventional description of Abraham Maslow's (1943 , 1954 ) hierarchy of needs is inaccurate as a description of Maslow's later thought. Maslow (1969a) amended his model, placing self-transcendence as a motivational step beyond self-actualization. Objections to this reinterpretation are considered. Possible reasons for the persistence of the conventional account are described. Recognizing self-transcendence as part of Maslow's hierarchy has important consequences for theory and research: (a) a more comprehensive understanding of worldviews regarding the meaning of life; (b) broader understanding of the motivational roots of altruism, social progress, and wisdom; (c) a deeper understanding of religious violence; (d) integration of the psychology of religion and spirituality into the mainstream of psychology; and (e) a more multiculturally integrated approach to psychological theory.

Abstract:The use of Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs principle in organisations is discussed in this essay. Physiological requirements, comfort needs, the desire to be loved and respected, and the need for self-esteem are also part of the hypothesis. This is what becomes a model on how to act in an organisation such that the organization's success improves in fulfilling the goal and purpose that has been set out to serve others. The company will function at its best when the requirements for confidentiality, convenience, and certainty are met, allowing the process of meeting user knowledge needs to operate smoothly. That almost all, regardless of their degree of need, desires peace, oversight, and consistent employment opportunities.
