Abstract:A natural connection, determined by a property of its torsion tensor, is defined and it is called the second natural connection on Riemannian $\Pi$-manifold, i.e. the uniqueness of this connection is proved and a necessary and sufficient condition for coincidence with the first natural connection on the considered manifolds is found. The form of the torsion tensor of the second natural connection is obtained in the classes of the Riemannian $\Pi$-manifolds in which it differs from the first natural connection. An explicit example of dimension 5 is given in support of the proven assertions.

Abstract:We obtain the natural diagonal almost product and locally product structures on the total space of the cotangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold. Studying the compatibility and the anti-compatibility relations between the determined structures and a natural diagonal metric, we find the Riemannian almost product (locally product) and the (almost) para-Hermitian cotangent bundles of natural diagonal lift type. Finally, we prove the characterization theorem for the natural diagonal (almost) para-Kählerian structures on the total space of the cotangent bundle.

Three-dimensional Riemannian manifolds associated with locally conformal Riemannian product manifolds

Abstract:A 3-dimensional Riemannian manifold equipped with a tensor structure of type $(1,1)$, whose fourth power is the identity, is considered. This structure acts as an isometry with respect to the metric. A Riemannian almost product manifold associated with such a manifold is also studied. It turns out, that the almost product manifold belongs to the class of locally conformal Riemannian product manifolds of the Naveira classification. Conditions for the additional structures of the manifolds to be parallel with respect to the Levi-Civita connection of the metric were found. Classes of almost Einstein manifolds and Einstein manifolds are determined and some of their curvature properties are obtained. As examples of these manifolds, a hypersurface is considered.

Abstract:On Hermitian manifolds, the second Ricci curvature tensors of various metric connections are closely related to the geometry of Hermitian manifolds. By refining the Bochner formulas for any Hermitian complex vector bundle (and Riemannian real vector bundle) with an arbitrary metric connection over a compact Hermitian manifold, we can derive various vanishing theorems for Hermitian manifolds and complex vector bundles by the second Ricci curvature tensors. We will also introduce a natural geometric flow on Hermitian manifolds by using the second Ricci curvature tensor.

Abstract:Families of linear connections are constructed on almost contact manifolds with Norden metric. An analogous connection to the symmetric Yano connection is obtained on a normal almost contact manifold with Norden metric and closed structural 1-form. The curvature properties of this connection are studied on two basic classes of normal almost contact manifolds with Norden metric.

Abstract:Let $(M,\nabla)$ be an $n$-dimensional differentiable manifold with a torsion-free linear connection and $T^{*}M$ its cotangent bundle. In this context we study some properties of the natural Riemann extension (M. Sekizawa (1987), O. Kowalski and M. Sekizawa (2011)) on the cotangent bundle $T^{*}M$. First, we give an alternative definition of the natural Riemann extension with respect to horizontal and vertical lifts. Secondly, we investigate metric connection for the natural Riemann extension. Finally, we present geodesics on the cotangent bundle $T^{*}M$ endowed with the natural Riemann extension.
Curvatures of real connections on Hermitian manifolds

Abstract: Let $(M,g,J)$ be a Riemannian manifold with a compatible integrable complex structure $J\in\mathrm{End}(T_\mathbb{R} M)$ and $\mathcal{A}_{g,J}$ be the space of real connections on $T_\mathbb{R} M$ preserving both $g$ and $J$. In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the geometry of real connections in $\mathcal{A}_{g,J}$ and that of Hermitian connections on $T^{1,0}M$. In particular, we study the geometry of the real Chern connection $\nabla^{\mathrm{Ch,\mathrm{R}}}$ on $(M,g,J)$, and obtain K\"ahler-Einstein metrics by using real Chern-Einstein metrics.

Abstract:Properties of pairs of product conjugate connections are stated with a special view towards the integrability of the given almost product structure. We define the analogous in product geometry of the structural and the virtual tensors from the Hermitian geometry and express the product conjugate connections in terms of these tensors. Some examples from the geometry of a pair of complementary distributions are discussed and for this case the above structural and virtual tensors are expressed in terms of O'Neill-Gray tensor fields.

Abstract:For a smooth manifold endowed with a (similarity) pseudo-Euclidean structure, a stiff connection $\nabla$ is a symmetric affine connection such that geodesics of $\nabla$ are straight lines of the pseudo-Euclidean structure while the first-order infinitesimal holonomy at each point is an infinitesimal isometry. In this paper, we give a complete classification of stiff connections in a local chart, identify canonical models and start investigating the global geometry of (similarity) pseudo-Euclidean manifolds endowed with a stiff connection. In the conformal class of the pseudo-Euclidean metric g, a stiff connection $\nabla$ defines a pseudo-Riemannian metric h such that unparameterized geodesics of $\nabla$ coincide with unparameterized geodesics of g but have a constant speed with respect to the so-called isochrone metric h. In particular, we obtain a new natural connection on the open unit ball that provides a compromise between properties of Cayley-Klein and Poincaré hyperbolic models.

Abstract:In the present paper it is considered a class V of 3-dimensional Riemannian manifolds M with a metric g and two affinor tensors q and S. It is defined another metric \bar{g} in M. The local coordinates of all these tensors are circulant matrices. It is found: 1)\ a relation between curvature tensors R and \bar{R} of g and \bar{g}, respectively; 2)\ an identity of the curvature tensor R of g in the case when the curvature tensor \bar{R} vanishes; 3)\ a relation between the sectional curvature of a 2-section of the type \{x, qx\} and the scalar curvature of M.

Abstract:We study a variational problem on a smooth manifold with a decomposition of the tangent bundle into $k>2$ subbundles (distributions), namely, we consider the integrated sum of their mixed scalar curvatures as a functional of adapted pseudo-Riemannian metric (keeping the pairwise orthogonality of the distributions) and contorsion tensor, defining a linear connection. This functional allows us to generalize the class of Einstein metrics in the following sense: if all of the distributions are one-dimensional, then it coincides with the geometrical part of the Einstein-Hilbert action restricted to adapted metrics. We prove that metrics in pairs metric-contorsion critical for our functional make all of the distributions totally umbilical. We obtain examples and obstructions to existence of those critical pairs in some special cases: twisted products with statistical connections; semi-symmetric connections and 3-Sasaki manifolds with metric-compatible connections.

Abstract:The main purpose of the present work is to investigate statistical manifolds endowed with almost product structures. We prove that the statistical structure of a para-Kähler-like statistical manifold of constant curvature in the Kurose's sense is a Hessian structure. We also derive the main properties of statistical submersions which are compatible with almost product structures. The results are illustrated by several nontrivial examples.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce semi-symmetric metric Koszul forms and semi-symmetric non-metric Koszul forms on singular semi-Riemannian manifolds. Semi-symmetric metric Koszul forms and semi-symmetric non-metric Koszul forms and their curvature of semi-regular warped products are expressed in terms of those of the factor manifolds. We also introduce Koszul forms associated to the almost product structure on singular almost product semi-Riemannian manifolds. Koszul forms associated to the almost product structure and their curvature of semi-regular almost product warped products are expressed in terms of those of the factor manifolds. Furthermore, we generalize the results in \cite{St2} to singular multiply warped products.

On a Natural Map Between Twistor Spaces

Abstract:A diffeomorphism between the twistor spaces of two Riemannian metrics on a smooth manifold preserving the fibers is defined based on a well-known construction. It is shown that this bundle isomorphism is a holomorphic map with respect to the Atiyah-Hitchin-Singer, respectively, Eells-Salamon, almost complex structure if and only if the two metrics are conformal, respectively, homothetic. In these cases, the diffeomorphism is the identity map and the result obtained provides an interpretation of the well-known fact that the Atiyah-Hitchin-Singer almost complex structure of a twistor space is invariant under conformal changes of the metric on the base manifold, while that of Eells-Salamon is not invariant in general. The more general problem of when an arbitrary bundle isomorphism between twistor spaces is holomorphic is also considered. Another problem discussed in the paper is when the diffeomorphism mentioned above is a harmonic map with respect to natural families of Riemannian metrics on the twistor spaces defined by means of the two Riemannian metrics. It is proved that if the metrics are conformal this happens if and only if they are homothetic.

Abstract:The paper observes an almost Hermitian manifold as an example of a generalized Riemannian manifold and examines the application of a quarter-symmetric connection on the almost Hermitian manifold. The almost Hermitian manifold with quarter-symmetric connection preserving the generalized Riemannian metric is actually the Kähler manifold. Observing the six linearly independent curvature tensors with respect to the quarter-symmetric connection, we construct tensors that do not depend on the quarter-symmetric connection generator. One of them coincides with the Weyl projective curvature tensor of symmetric metric $g$. Also, we obtain the relations between the Weyl projective curvature tensor and the holomorphically projective curvature tensor. Moreover, we examine the properties of curvature tensors when some tensors are hybrid.

Abstract:Left-invariant Hermitian and Gauduchon connections are studied on an arbitrary Lie group $G$ equipped with an arbitrary left-invariant almost Hermitian structure $(\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle,J)$. The space of left-invariant Hermitian connections is shown to be in one-to-one correspondence with the space $\wedge^{(1,1)}\mathfrak{g}^\ast\otimes \mathfrak{g}$ of left-invariant 2-forms of type (1,1) (with respect to $J$) with values in $\mathfrak{g}:=\mbox{Lie}(G)$. Explicit formulas are obtained for the torsion components of every Hermitian and Gauduchon connection with respect to a convenient choice of left-invariant frame on $G$. The curvature of Gauduchon connections is studied for the special case $G=H\times A$, where $H$ is an arbitrary $n$-dimensional Lie group, $A$ is an arbitrary $n$-dimensional abelian Lie group, and the almost complex structure is totally real with respect to $\mathfrak{h}:=\mbox{Lie}(H)$. When $H$ is compact, it is shown that $H\times A$ admits a left-invariant (strictly) almost Hermitian structure $(\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle,J)$ such that the Gauduchon connection corresponding to the Strominger (or Bismut) connection in the integrable case is precisely the trivial left-invariant connection and, in addition, has totally skew-symmetric torsion. The almost Hermitian structure $(\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle,J)$ on $H\times A$ is shown to satisfy the \textit{strong Kähler with torsion} condition. Furthermore, the affine line of Gauduchon connections on $H\times A$ with the aforementioned almost Hermitian structure is also shown to contain a (nontrivial) flat connection.
