Abstract:Highlights A new proton-promoted in situ ligand exchange strategy based on CsPbI 3 quantum dots. The ligand exchange strategy maintains the quantum confinement effect of quantum dots and significantly improves the stability and photophysical properties of CsPbI 3 quantum dots. The performance of light-emitting diodes based on CsPbI 3 quantum dots is significantly improved, the external quantum efficiency is increased from 18.63% to 24.45%, and the half-operational lifetime is increased by 70 times.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
### Problems the Paper Aims to Solve This paper aims to address several key issues faced in the preparation of high-performance red light-emitting diodes (LEDs) using CsPbI₃ perovskite quantum dots (QDs): 1. **Low Phase Stability**: The phase stability of CsPbI₃ QDs is relatively low, which limits their long-term performance in devices. 2. **Impact of Long-Chain Insulating Capping Ligands**: Traditional long-chain organic ligands (such as oleic acid and oleylamine) are difficult to sufficiently passivate the surface defects of small-sized QDs, and these long-chain ligands hinder charge transfer between QDs, thereby affecting device performance. 3. **Challenges in Traditional In-Situ Ligand Replacement and Post-Synthesis Ligand Exchange**: Traditional methods face challenges in balancing colloidal stability and short-chain ligand passivation while maintaining the quantum confinement effect of QDs. To address these issues, the authors propose a new proton-promoted in-situ ligand exchange strategy, using short-chain 5-aminovaleric acid (5AVA) ligands to replace long-chain oleic acid and oleylamine ligands to obtain stable small-sized CsPbI₃ QDs. This strategy not only maintains the size and morphology of the QDs but also significantly improves the optical properties and conductivity of the QDs, thereby significantly enhancing the performance of LEDs based on CsPbI₃ QDs. Specifically: - The external quantum efficiency (EQE) increased from 18.63% to 24.45%. - The half-operational lifetime increased by 70 times, reaching 10.79 hours. Through this method, the authors successfully fabricated high-efficiency, narrow-emission peak red QD-LEDs with an emission wavelength of 645 nm. This achievement provides a new method for ligand exchange of small-sized CsPbI₃ QDs and opens an effective pathway for improving the performance of perovskite QD-LEDs.
