Abstract:The straightening–unstraightening correspondence of Grothendieck–Lurie provides an equivalence between cocartesian fibrations between -categories and diagrams of -categories. We provide an alternative proof of this correspondence, as well as an extension of straightening–unstraightening to all higher categorical dimensions. This is based on an explicit combinatorial result relating two types of fibrations between double categories, which can be applied inductively to construct the straightening of a cocartesian fibration between higher categories.

Abstract:We give a direct proof of the fact that Lurie's Unstraightening functor induces an equivalence between the strict $(\infty,2)$-category of indexed quasi-categories and the strict $(\infty,2)$-category of fibered quasi-categories over any given quasi-categorical base. We conclude that Unstraightening preserves simplicial cotensors up to a (strictly) natural homotopy equivalence, and thus gives rise to an accordingly weakened notion of cosmological biequivalence between the two underlying $\infty$-cosmoses.

Abstract:We show that any functor between $\infty$-categories can be straightened. More precisely, we show that for any $\infty$-category $\mathcal{C}$, there is an equivalence between the $\infty$-category $(\mathrm{Cat}_{\infty})_{/\mathcal{C}}$ of $\infty$-categories over $\mathcal{C}$ and the $\infty$-category of unital lax functors from $\mathcal{C}$ to the double $\infty$-category $\mathrm{Corr}$ of correspondences. The proof relies on a certain universal property of the Morita category which is of independent interest.

Abstract:We provide an $(\infty,n)$-categorical version of the straightening-unstraightening construction, asserting an equivalence between the $(\infty,n)$-category of double $(\infty,n-1)$-right fibrations over an $(\infty,n)$-category $\mathcal{C}$ and that of the $(\infty,n)$-functors from $\mathcal{C}$ valued in $(\infty,n-1)$-categories. We realize this in the form of a Quillen equivalence between appropriate model structures; on the one hand, a model structure for double $(\infty,n-1)$-right fibrations over a generic precategory object $W$ in $(\infty,n-1)$-categories and, on the other hand, a model structure for $(\infty,n)$-functors from its homotopy coherent categorification $\mathfrak{C} W$ valued in $(\infty,n-1)$-categories.

Abstract:Within the framework of Riehl-Shulman's synthetic $(\infty,1)$-category theory, we present a theory of two-sided cartesian fibrations. Central results are several characterizations of the two-sidedness condition à la Chevalley, Gray, Street, and Riehl-Verity, a two-sided Yoneda Lemma, as well as the proof of several closure properties. Along the way, we also define and investigate a notion of fibered or sliced fibration which is used later to develop the two-sided case in a modular fashion. We also briefly discuss discrete two-sided cartesian fibrations in this setting, corresponding to $(\infty,1)$-distributors. The systematics of our definitions and results closely follows Riehl-Verity's $\infty$-cosmos theory, but formulated internally to Riehl-Shulman's simplicial extension of homotopy type theory. All the constructions and proofs in this framework are by design invariant under homotopy equivalence. Semantically, the synthetic $(\infty,1)$-categories correspond to internal $(\infty,1)$-categories implemented as Rezk objects in an arbitrary given $(\infty,1)$-topos.

Abstract:We prove an unstraightening result for lax transformations between functors from an arbitrary $(\infty,2)$-category to that of $(\infty,2)$-categories. We apply this to study partially (op)lax and weighted (co)limits, giving fibrational descriptions of such (co)limits for diagrams valued in $(\infty,2)$-categories, to characterize adjoints in $(\infty,2)$-categories of functors and (op)lax transformations, and to prove a mate correspondence between lax transformations that are componentwise right adjoints and oplax transformations that are componentwise left adjoints, for such transformations among functors between arbitrary $(\infty,2)$-categories.

Abstract:In this work we provide a model-independent notion of local fibrations of $(\infty,2)$-categories which generalises the well-known theory of locally coCartesian fibrations of $(\infty,1)$-categories. Based on previous work, we construct a model category which serves as a specific combinatorial model for this type of fibrations. Our main result is a generalisation of the locally coCartesian straightening and unstraightening construction of Lurie, which yields for any scaled simplicial set $S$ an equivalence of $(\infty,2)$-categories between the $(\infty,2)$-category of $(0,1)$-fibrations over $S$ (also known as inner coCartesian fibrations) and the $(\infty,2)$-category of functors $S \to \mathbb{C}\!\operatorname{at}_{(\infty,2)}$ with values in $(\infty,2)$-categories. Given an $(\infty,2)$-category $\mathbb{B}$, our Grothendieck construction can be specialised to produce an equivalence between the $(\infty,2)$-category of local fibrations over $\mathbb{B}$ and the $(\infty,2)$-category of oplax unital functors with values in $\mathbb{C}\!\operatorname{at}_{(\infty,2)}$. Finally, as an application of our results we provide a version of the Yoneda lemma for $(\infty,2)$-categories.

Abstract:This paper is a part of series of articles where we reprove the statements regarding the abstract six-functor formalism developed by Liu-Zheng. In this paper, we prove a theorem which is an $\infty$-categorical version for defining the exceptional pushforward functor in an abstract-six functor formalism. The article involves defining specific combinatorial simplcial sets related to the idea of compactifications and pullback squares. This theorem plays a key role in constructing the abstract six-functor formalism which shall be constructed in the forthcoming article.

Curved $\infty$-Local Systems And Projectively Flat Riemann-Hilbert Correspondence

Abstract:We generalize the higher Riemann-Hilbert correspondence in the presence of scalar curvature for a (possibly non-compact) smooth manifold $M$. We show that the dg-category of curved $\infty$-local systems, the dg-category of graded vector bundles with projectively flat $\mathbb Z$-graded connections and the dg-category of curved representations of the singular simplicial set of the based loop space of $M$ are all $A_\infty$-quasi equivalent. They provide dg-enhancements of the subcategory of the bounded derived category of twisted sheaves whose cohomology sheaves are locally constant and have finite-dimensional fibers. In the ungraded case, we reduce to an equivalence between projectively flat vector bundles and a subcategory of projective representations of $\pi_1(M; x_0)$. As an application of our general framework, we also prove that the category of cohesive modules over the curved Dolbeault algebra of a complex manifold $X$ is equivalent to a subcategory of the bounded derived category of twisted sheaves of $\mathcal O_X$-modules which generalizes a theorem due to Block to possibly non-compact complex manifolds.

Abstract:We provide a calculus of mates for functors to the $\infty$-category of $\infty$-categories and extend Lurie's unstraightening equivalences to show that (op)lax natural transformations correspond to maps of (co)cartesian fibrations that do not necessarily preserve (co)cartesian edges. As a sample application we obtain an equivalence between lax symmetric monoidal structures on right adjoint functors and oplax symmetric monoidal structures on the left adjoint functors between symmetric monoidal $\infty$-categories that is compatible with both horizontal and vertical composition of such structures. As the technical heart of the paper we study various new types of fibrations over a product of two $\infty$-categories. In particular, we show how they can be dualised over one of the two factors and how they encode functors out of the Gray tensor product of $(\infty, 2)$-categories.

On the structure of étale fibrations of $L_\infty$-bundles

Abstract:We prove that an étale fibration between $L_\infty$-bundles has local sections made up of several elementary morphisms of particularly simple and accessible type. As applications, we prove an inverse function theorem for $L_\infty$-bundles, and give an elementary proof that every weak equivalence of $L_\infty$-bundles induces a quasi-isomorphism of the differential graded algebras of global functions. In addition, we apply this inverse function theorem to prove that the homotopy category of $L_\infty$-bundles has a simple description in terms of homotopy classes of morphisms, when we restrict $L_\infty$-bundles to their germs about their classical loci.

Abstract:In this short note, we provide an alternative proof of a notable theorem by Narasimhan and Ramanan. The theorem states that the moduli space of $S$-equivalence classes of semistable rank $2$ vector bundles over a curve $X$ of genus $2$ with trivial determinant is isomorphic to $\mathbb{P}^3$. Our proof relies on a criterion by Bauer and Szemberg, which characterizes projective spaces among smooth Fano varieties using Seshadri constants.
