Abstract:We provide an $(\infty,n)$-categorical version of the straightening-unstraightening construction, asserting an equivalence between the $(\infty,n)$-category of double $(\infty,n-1)$-right fibrations over an $(\infty,n)$-category $\mathcal{C}$ and that of the $(\infty,n)$-functors from $\mathcal{C}$ valued in $(\infty,n-1)$-categories. We realize this in the form of a Quillen equivalence between appropriate model structures; on the one hand, a model structure for double $(\infty,n-1)$-right fibrations over a generic precategory object $W$ in $(\infty,n-1)$-categories and, on the other hand, a model structure for $(\infty,n)$-functors from its homotopy coherent categorification $\mathfrak{C} W$ valued in $(\infty,n-1)$-categories.

On local fibrations of $(\infty,2)$-categories

Abstract:In this work we provide a model-independent notion of local fibrations of $(\infty,2)$-categories which generalises the well-known theory of locally coCartesian fibrations of $(\infty,1)$-categories. Based on previous work, we construct a model category which serves as a specific combinatorial model for this type of fibrations. Our main result is a generalisation of the locally coCartesian straightening and unstraightening construction of Lurie, which yields for any scaled simplicial set $S$ an equivalence of $(\infty,2)$-categories between the $(\infty,2)$-category of $(0,1)$-fibrations over $S$ (also known as inner coCartesian fibrations) and the $(\infty,2)$-category of functors $S \to \mathbb{C}\!\operatorname{at}_{(\infty,2)}$ with values in $(\infty,2)$-categories. Given an $(\infty,2)$-category $\mathbb{B}$, our Grothendieck construction can be specialised to produce an equivalence between the $(\infty,2)$-category of local fibrations over $\mathbb{B}$ and the $(\infty,2)$-category of oplax unital functors with values in $\mathbb{C}\!\operatorname{at}_{(\infty,2)}$. Finally, as an application of our results we provide a version of the Yoneda lemma for $(\infty,2)$-categories.

Abstract:The straightening–unstraightening correspondence of Grothendieck–Lurie provides an equivalence between cocartesian fibrations between -categories and diagrams of -categories. We provide an alternative proof of this correspondence, as well as an extension of straightening–unstraightening to all higher categorical dimensions. This is based on an explicit combinatorial result relating two types of fibrations between double categories, which can be applied inductively to construct the straightening of a cocartesian fibration between higher categories.

Abstract:Within the framework of Riehl-Shulman's synthetic $(\infty,1)$-category theory, we present a theory of two-sided cartesian fibrations. Central results are several characterizations of the two-sidedness condition à la Chevalley, Gray, Street, and Riehl-Verity, a two-sided Yoneda Lemma, as well as the proof of several closure properties. Along the way, we also define and investigate a notion of fibered or sliced fibration which is used later to develop the two-sided case in a modular fashion. We also briefly discuss discrete two-sided cartesian fibrations in this setting, corresponding to $(\infty,1)$-distributors. The systematics of our definitions and results closely follows Riehl-Verity's $\infty$-cosmos theory, but formulated internally to Riehl-Shulman's simplicial extension of homotopy type theory. All the constructions and proofs in this framework are by design invariant under homotopy equivalence. Semantically, the synthetic $(\infty,1)$-categories correspond to internal $(\infty,1)$-categories implemented as Rezk objects in an arbitrary given $(\infty,1)$-topos.

Abstract:We formulate a model-independent theory of co/cartesian morphisms and co/cartesian fibrations: that is, one which resides entirely *within the $\infty$-category of $\infty$-categories*. We prove this is suitably compatible with the corresponding quasicategorical (and in particular, model-dependent) notions studied by Joyal and Lurie.

Abstract:We show that any functor between $\infty$-categories can be straightened. More precisely, we show that for any $\infty$-category $\mathcal{C}$, there is an equivalence between the $\infty$-category $(\mathrm{Cat}_{\infty})_{/\mathcal{C}}$ of $\infty$-categories over $\mathcal{C}$ and the $\infty$-category of unital lax functors from $\mathcal{C}$ to the double $\infty$-category $\mathrm{Corr}$ of correspondences. The proof relies on a certain universal property of the Morita category which is of independent interest.

Proper morphisms of $\infty$-topoi

Abstract:We characterise proper morphisms of $\infty$-topoi in terms of a relativised notion of compactness: we show that a geometric morphism of $\infty$-topoi is proper if and only if it commutes with colimits indexed by filtered internal $\infty$-categories in the target. In particular, our result implies that for any $\infty$-topos, the global sections functor is proper if and only if it preserves filtered colimits. As an application, we show that every proper and separated map of topological spaces gives rise to a proper morphism between the associated sheaf $\infty$-topoi, generalising a result of Lurie. Along the way, we develop some aspects of the theory of localic higher topoi internal to an $\infty$-topos, which might be of independent interest.

Abstract:In this work, we study the notion of cofinal functor of $\infty$-bicategories with respect to the theory of partially lax colimits. The main result of this paper is a characterization of cofinal functors of $\infty$-bicategories via generalizations of the conditions of Quillen's Theorem A. As a key ingredient for the proof of our main theorem we produce for every functor of $\infty$-bicategories $f:\mathbb{C} \to \mathbb{D}$ an outer 2-Cartesian fibration $\mathbb{F}(\mathbb{C})\to \mathbb{D}$ which we identify it as the free fibration on the functor $f$.

Abstract:We show how to treat families of $\infty$-categories fibered in categorical patterns (e.g., $\infty$-operads and monoidal $\infty$-categories) in terms of fibrations by relativizing the Grothendieck construction. As applications, we construct an analog of the universal cocartesian fibration and explain how to compute limits and colimits of $\infty$-categories fibered in categorical patterns.

The Grothendieck construction in the context of tangent categories

Abstract:The Grothendieck construction establishes an equivalence between fibrations, a.k.a. fibred categories, and indexed categories, and is one of the fundamental results of category theory. Cockett and Cruttwell introduced the notion of fibrations into the context of tangent categories and proved that the fibres of a tangent fibration inherit a tangent structure from the total tangent category. The main goal of this paper is to provide a Grothendieck construction for tangent fibrations. Our first attempt will focus on providing a correspondence between tangent fibrations and indexed tangent categories, which are collections of tangent categories and tangent morphisms indexed by the objects and morphisms of a base tangent category. We will show that this construction inverts Cockett and Cruttwell's result but it does not provide a full equivalence between these two concepts. In order to understand how to define a genuine Grothendieck equivalence in the context of tangent categories, inspired by Street's formal approach to monad theory we introduce a new concept: tangent objects. We show that tangent fibrations arise as tangent objects of a suitable $2$-category and we employ this characterization to lift the Grothendieck construction between fibrations and indexed categories to a genuine Grothendieck equivalence between tangent fibrations and tangent indexed categories.

Abstract:I show that any locally Cartesian left localisation of a presentable infinity-category admits a right proper model structure in which all morphisms are cofibrations, and obtain a Koszul duality classification of its fibrations. By a simple criterion in terms of generators for a localisation to be locally Cartesian, this applies to any nullification functor. In particular, it includes examples with non-trivial "homotopical content." I further describe, and provide examples from, the set of fibrations in three contexts: the higher categorical Thomason model structure of Mazel-Gee, where fibrations are local systems; Morel-Voevodsky A1-localisation, where they are a higher analogue of A1-covering spaces; and the Quillen plus construction, where they are related to loop space modules trivialised over the universal acyclic extension.

On functor double $\infty$-categories

Abstract:In this paper, we study double $\infty$-categories of double functors. To this end, we exhibit the cartesian closed structure of the $\infty$-category of double $\infty$-categories and various localizations. We prove a theorem that characterizes the companions and conjoints in functor double $\infty$-categories via the notion of companionable and conjointable 2-cells in double $\infty$-categories. Moreover, we show that under suitable conditions, functor double $\infty$-categories are horizontally closed. Throughout the paper, we highlight a few applications to $(\infty,2)$-category theory and indexed exponentiability.

Abstract:Framed combinatorial topology is a recent approach to tame geometry which expresses higher-dimensional stratified spaces via tractable combinatorial data. The resulting theory of spaces is well-behaved and computable. In this paper we extend FCT by allowing labelling systems of meshes and trusses in $\infty$-categories, and build an alternative model of FCT by constructing $\infty$-categories that classify meshes and trusses. This will serve as the foundation for future work on models of higher categories based on generalised string diagrams and the study of generalised tangles.
