Abstract:Ameloblastoma is a benign odontogenic tumor characterized by a locally infiltrative growth pattern within bone trabeculae. It typically affects the posterior mandible in adult individuals. The standard surgical approach, guided by clinical, radiographic, and histopathological features, typically involves excision, including the removal of normal bone surrounding the lesion. But what happens when this neoplasm is diagnosed in childhood? Does the expansive nature of this condition result in lifelong oral myofunctional sequelae? And what about the psychosocial consequences? These questions are addressed in this discussion through the presentation of a clinical case involving a 10-year-old female patient diagnosed with ameloblastoma.
