Editorial: Allyship—Not the Solution, But a Way Forward

Abstract:Of the many challenges we face in our healthcare system, two of the most prominent are systemic racism and sexism. I won't dwell on the origins of these issues because it is widely recognized that at some level, they are ever-present. They adversely affect our colleagues from minority groups, including the women and LGBTQ+ members in our specialty—as well as those who might want to join it. And, as importantly, they impair our ability to deliver high-quality care to all people.
