Abstract:In this work, we shall investigate existence and multiplicity of solutions for a nonlocal elliptic systems driven by the fractional Laplacian. Specifically, we establish the existence of two positive solutions for following class of nonlocal elliptic systems: \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{array}{lll} (-\Delta)^su +V_1(x)u = \lambda|u|^{p - 2}u+ \frac{\alpha}{\alpha+\beta}\theta |u|^{\alpha - 2}u|v|^{\beta}, \;\;\; \mbox{in}\;\;\; \mathbb{R}^N, (-\Delta)^sv +V_2(x)v= \lambda|v|^{q - 2}v+ \frac{\beta}{\alpha+\beta}\theta |u|^{\alpha}|v|^{\beta-2}v, \;\;\; \mbox{in}\;\;\; \mathbb{R}^N, (u, v) \in H^s(\mathbb{R}^N) \times H^s(\mathbb{R}^N). \end{array}\right. \end{equation*} Here we mention that $\alpha > 1, \beta > 1, 1 \leq p \leq q < 2 < \alpha + \beta < 2^*_s$, $\theta > 0, \lambda > 0, N > 2s$, and $s \in (0,1)$. Notice also that continuous potentials $V_1, V_2: \mathbb{R}^N \to \mathbb{R}$ satisfy some extra assumptions. Furthermore, we find the largest positive number $\lambda^* > 0$ such that our main problem admits at least two positive solutions for each $ \lambda \in (0, \lambda^*)$. This can be done by using the nonlinear Rayleigh quotient together with the Nehari method. The main feature here is to minimize the energy functional in Nehari manifold which allows us to prove our main results without any restriction on size of parameter $\theta > 0$.

Under a local condition imposed on the potential V , we relate the number of positive solutions with the topology of the set where the potential attains its minimum. In the proofs we apply variational methods, penalization techniques and Ljusternik–Schnirelmann theory.

Abstract:In this thesis we investigate how the nonlocalities affect the study of different PDEs coming from physics, and we analyze these equations under almost optimal assumptions of the nonlinearity. Abstract:We investigate fractional regularity estimates up to the boundary for solutions to fully nonlinear elliptic equations with measurable ingredients. Specifically, under the assumption of uniform ellipticity of the operator, we demonstrate that viscosity solutions to a second-order operator satisfy a fractional Laplacian equation. This result implies that the solutions are globally of class $W^{\gamma, p}$, for $\gamma \in (1,2)$, with appropriate estimates. Consequently, these solutions exhibit differentiability of order strictly greater than one, without requiring any additional assumptions regarding the operator, such as convexity or concavity.

Abstract:We establish the existence of multiple solutions for a nonlinear problem of critical type. The problem considered is fractional in nature, since it is obtained by the superposition of $(s,p)$-fractional Laplacians of different orders. The results obtained are new even in the case of the sum of two different fractional $p$-Laplacians, or the sum of a fractional $p$-Laplacian and a classical $p$-Laplacian, but our framework is general enough to address also the sum of finitely, or even infinitely many, operators. In fact, we can also consider the superposition of a continuum of operators, modulated by a general signed measure on the fractional exponents. When this measure is not positive, the contributions of the individual operators to the whole superposition operator is allowed to change sign. In this situation, our structural assumption is that the positive measure on the higher fractional exponents dominates the rest of the signed measure.

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain the existence of at least two standing waves (and homoclinic solutions) for a class of time-dependent (and time-independent) discrete nonlinear Schrödinger systems or equations. The novelties of the paper are as follows. (1) Our nonlinearities are composed of three mixed growth terms, i.e., the nonlinearities are composed of sub-linear, asymptotically-linear and super-linear terms. (2) Our nonlinearities may be sign-changing. (3) Our results can also be applied to the cases of concave-convex nonlinear terms. (4) Our results can be applied to a wide range of mathematical models.

Abstract:In this paper we prove the existence of a weak solution to a doubly nonlinear parabolic fractional $p$-Laplacian equation, which has general doubly non-linearlity including not only the Sobolev subcritical/critical/supercritical cases but also the slow/fast diffusion ones. Our proof reveals the weak convergence method for the doubly nonlinear fractional $p$-Laplace operator.

Abstract:We investigate quantitative properties of nonnegative solutions $u(t,x)\ge 0$ to the nonlinear fractional diffusion equation, $\partial_t u + \mathcal{L}F(u)=0$ posed in a bounded domain, $x\in\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^N$, with appropriate homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. As $\mathcal{L}$ we can use a quite general class of linear operators that includes the two most common versions of the fractional Laplacian $(-\Delta)^s$, $0<s<1$, in a bounded domain with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions, but it also includes many other examples since our theory only needs some basic properties that are typical of "linear heat semigroups." The nonlinearity $F$ is assumed to be increasing and is allowed to be degenerate, the prototype is the power case $F(u)=|u|^{m-1}u$, with $m>1$. In this paper we propose a suitable class of solutions of the equation, and cover the basic theory: we prove existence, uniqueness of such solutions, and we establish upper bounds of two forms (absolute bounds and smoothing effects), as well as weighted-$L^1$ estimates. The class of solutions is very well suited for that work. The standard Laplacian case $s=1$ is included and the linear case $m=1$ can be recovered in the limit. In a companion paper [12], we will complete the study with more advanced estimates, like the upper and lower boundary behaviour and Harnack inequalities, for which the results of this paper are needed.

Due to the coefficient A ⁢ ( ( b * u q ) ⁢ ( 1 ) ) {A((b*u^{q})(1))} appearing in the differential equation, the equation has a coefficient containing a convolution term. By choosing the kernel b in various ways, specific nonlocal coefficients can be recovered such as nonlocal coefficients equivalent to a fractional integral of Riemann–Liouville type. The results rely on the use of a nonstandard order cone together with topological fixed point theory. Applications to fractional differential equations are given, including a problem related to the ( n - 1 , 1 ) {(n-1,1)} -conjugate problem.
