Abstract:Philosophers of China are always highly praising ＂unity of knowing-doing＂. Nowadays, ＂lack of unity of knowing-doing＂ in the process of cultivating talents is mainly reflected in how to be a man and how to learn. Working out the problem of ＂lack of unity of knowing-doing＂ in cultivating tal- ents should start with developing students ~ sense of social responsibility, deepening teaching reform, constructing teachers＇ virtue, strenghtening the construction of extracurricular activities and campus culture and making full use of social and educational resources, which emphasizes the guiding functions of teachers and the subject position of students. Students＇ initiative should be fully displayed and ＂unity of knowing-doing＂ of students should be integrated into the whole process and field of teaching and talent cultivation so that students will truly become innovative talents who have highly- developed social conscience, innovative spirits, practical capability and ＂unity of knowing-doing in work and life.

Abstract:Currently, the importance of art education in colleges and universities is becoming increasingly prominent. Therefore, it is very important to cultivate the art quality and innovation ability of college students in this situation. Through art education in colleges and universities, the thinking of college students can be divergent, allowing them to exhibit beauty without being bound by fixed forms. The current problems in the cultivation of art quality and innovation ability in universities mainly include a single teaching system and a lack of consideration for the aesthetic demands of modern people. Based on this, this article first explains the importance of cultivating students' artistic literacy and innovation ability, then describes the current situation of students' artistic literacy and innovation ability in art teaching in colleges and universities, and finally explores the cultivation strategies for art literacy and innovation ability in universities.

Abstract:Based on a survey conducted among college medical students,this paper sums up the actuality of medical students' awareness of creativity as follows: They have a strong motivation in creativity but lack creativity-oriented practice;they have curiosity and thirst for knowledge but lack exposure to new things;they have independent thinking but lack problem-discovering ability.Based on the results of this survey and relating the practice of college medical education,the paper suggests encouraging medical students to participate in research;improving teaching methods and encouraging after-class activities.

Abstract:The Outline of China's National Plan for Medium and Long-term Education Reform and Development(2010-2020) has explicitly mentioned that higher education needs to cultivate high quality expertise and innovative personnel.It should be considered by higher education institutions to transform the aim into educational activities to benefit undergraduates who have creative potential.Based on the data of Chinese College Student Survey collected by the Institute of Education,Tsinghua University,the sample is divided into three groups,i.e.students winning international/national award,students winning other awards,students not winning awards.Using statistical methods,the study analyzes whether the degree of students' creativity enhancement among three groups is significantly different,examines the relationships between winning awards and creativity enhancement,explores how the factors,such as personal characteristics,environmental variable,engagement and interaction,influence students' creativity enhancement.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the updated texts of undergraduate programs in 2008 or 2009 of China's five top-notch universities including Peking University.The results show that these universities have set up a new model for creative talent cultivation,which is general education based,and characterized by wide-pass professional education and individualized multi-channel cultivation.These universities introduce the notion of general education spontaneously,implement the needs of students in curriculum designing and put emphasis on cross-disciplinary approaches.However,from a global perspective,compared with their American counterparts,these models can be improved in such aspects as clarifying educational objectives in more specific terms,strengthening the connection between general and professional education in terms of the coherence and integrity in the sequence of courses,and developing approaches to enhancing students' global awareness.

Abstract:This article mainly focuses on the international debates about the cultivation of innovative talents and its implications for Chinese higher education.Four international debates are presented,including Nature versus Nurture,Aptitude versus Achievement,Expertise versus Creativity,and Nomothetic versus Idiographic.Based on these international debates,this article discusses the possible approaches to cultivating innovative talents in China,especially in the field of higher education.Based on the discussion,the author proposes that Chinese educators and administrators in universities should follow the advanced cultivation model,providing individualized training strategy for each student based on his/her personality,age,family background,and aptitude.The special training programs for gifted college students in China should differentiate the creativity training and expertise training,and put emphasis on how to equip gifted college students with innovative and creative thinking.Chinese researchers should adopt the advanced research models in the field of gifted education,combine nomothetic and idiographic methods,and apply these mixed methods into the research on gifted education.
