Abstract:This work deals with the inhomogeneous Landau equation on the torus in the cases of hard, maxwellian and moderately soft potentials. We first investigate the linearized equation and we prove exponential decay estimates for the associated semigroup. We then turn to the nonlinear equation and we use the linearized semigroup decay in order to construct solutions in a close-to-equilibrium setting. Finally, we prove a exponential stability for such a solution, with a rate as close as we want to the optimal rate given by the semigroup decay.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the ill-posdness of the Cauchy problem for semilinear wave equation with very low regularity, where the nonlinear term depends on u and ∂ t u . We prove a ill-posedness result for the “defocusing” case, and give an alternative proof for the supercritical “focusing” case, which improves the result in Fang and Wang (Chin. Ann. Math. Ser. B 26 (3), 361–378, 2005).

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of semilinear wave equations which satisfy the "null condition." Abstract:A non-local abstract Cauchy problem with a singular integral is studied, which is a closed system of two evolution equations for a real-valued function and a function-valued function. By proposing an appropriate Banach space, the well-posedness of the evolution system is proved under some boundedness and smoothness conditions on the coefficient functions. Furthermore, an isomorphism is established to extend the result to a partial integro-differential equation with a singular convolution kernel, which is a generalized form of the stationary Wigner equation. Our investigation considerably improves the understanding of the open problem concerning the well-posedness of the stationary Wigner equation with in ow boundary conditions.

Abstract:Firstly, we study the equation □u=|u|qc+|∂u|p with small data, where qc is the critical power of Strauss conjecture and p≥qc. We obtain the optimal estimate of the lifespan ln⁡(Tε)≈ε−qc(qc−1) in n=3, and improve the lower bound of Tε from exp⁡(cε−(qc−1)) to exp⁡(cε−(qc−1)2/2) in n=2. Then, we study the Cauchy problem with small initial data for a system of semilinear wave equations □u=|v|q, □v=|∂tu|p in 3-dimensional space with q<2. We obtain that this system admits a global solution above a p−q curve for spherically symmetric data. On the contrary, we get a new region where the solution will blow up.

Abstract:Inspired by a pioneer work of Andersson and Kapitanski (Arch Ration Mech Anal 247(2):Paper No. 21, 76 pp, 2023), we prove the local well-posedness of the Cauchy problem of incompressible neo-Hookean equations if the initial deformation and velocity belong to ( ), where and is respectively a scaling-invariant exponent for deformation and velocity in Sobolev spaces. Our new observation relies on two folds: a reduction to a second-order wave-elliptic system of deformation and velocity; and a "wave-map type" null form intrinsic in this coupled system. In particular, the wave nature with "wave-map type" null form allows us to prove a bilinear estimate of Klainerman–Machedon type for nonlinear terms. So we can lower -order regularity in 3D and -order regularity in 2D for well-posedness compared with Andersson and Kapitanski (Arch Ration Mech Anal 247(2):Paper No. 21, 76 pp, 2023).

The local existence of solutions to this problem is proved by iteration.
