Abstract:where / ( / ) is a differentiate function defined on the real number interval [a, b), and x may be a real or complex number with x*0 and x*l. Obviously, the case for x = l of (1.1) could be generally treated by means of the well-known Euler-Maclaurin summation formula. The object of this paper is to find a general summation formula for (1.1) that could be applied readily to some interesting special cases, e.g., those with f{i)-t (2 ei?), / ( / ) = logf (V>1), and f(t) = q (0<q<l)9 respectively. Related results will be presented in Sections 3-5. Recall that for the particular case f(t) = t and [a, b) = [0, oo) with/? being a positive integer, we have the classical result (cf. [1], [2], [4])

Abstract:In a prior paper we found that the Fourier-Legendre series of a Bessel function of the first kind J_{N}\left(kx\right) and of a modified Bessel functions of the first kind I_{N}\left(kx\right) lead to an infinite set of series involving \,_{1}F_{2} hypergeometric functions (extracted therefrom) that could be summed, having values that are inverse powers of the eight primes 1/\left(2^{i}3^{j}5^{k}7^{l}11^{m}13^{n}17^{o}19^{p}\right) multiplying powers of the coefficient k, for the first 22 terms in each series. The present paper shows how to generate additional, doubly infinite summed series involving \,_{1}F_{2} hypergeometric functions from Chebyshev polynomial expansions of Bessel functions, and trebly infinite sets of summed series involving \,_{1}F_{2} hypergeometric functions from Gegenbauer polynomial expansions of Bessel functions.

Abstract:New explicit as well as manifestly symmetric three-term summationformulas are derived for the Clausenian hypergeometric series _3F_2(1) with negative integral parameter differences. Our results generalize and naturally extend several similar relations published, in recent years, by many authors. An appropriate and useful connection is established with the quite underestimated 1974 paper by P. W. Karlsson.

Abstract:The objective of this short note is to provide two closed-form evaluations for the generalized hypergeometric function $_4F_3$ of the argument $\frac1{16}$. This is achieved by means of separating a generalized hypergeometric function $_3F_2$ into even and odd components, together with the use of two known results for $_3F_2(\pm\frac14)$ available in the literature. As an application, we obtain an interesting infinite-sum representation for the number $\pi^2$. Certain connections with the work of Ramanujan and other authors are discussed, involving other special functions and binomial sums of different kinds.

Abstract:We derive relations for a certain class of terminating ${}_4F_3(4)$ hypergeometric series with three free parameters. The invariance group composed of these relations is shown to be isomorphic to the symmetric group $S_3$. We further study relations for terminating ${}_3F_2(4)$ series that fall under two families. By using a series reversal, we examine the corresponding terminating ${}_4F_3(1/4)$ and ${}_3F_2(1/4)$ series relations. We additionally derive formulas for the sums of the first $n+1$ terms of several nonterminating ${}_3F_2(4)$ and ${}_3F_2(1/4)$ series. We also show how certain known summation formulas for terminating ${}_2F_1(4)$ and ${}_3F_2(4)$ series follow as limiting cases of some of our relations.

Abstract:In this paper, we present an extension of the Karlsson–Minton summation formula for a generalized hypergeometric function with integral parameter differences. Namely, we extend one single negative difference in Karlsson–Minton formula to a finite number of integral negative differences, some of which will be repeated. Next, we continue our study of the generalized hypergeometric function evaluated at unity and with integral positive differences (IPD hypergeometric function at the unit argument). We obtain a recurrence relation that reduces the IPD hypergeometric function at the unit argument to 4F3. Finally, we note that Euler–Pfaff-type transformations are always based on summation formulas for finite hypergeometric functions, and we give a number of examples.

Abstract:In this note we present a summation formula for the Clausen series F-3(2)(1) with two integral parameter differences of opposite sign and apply it to give a generalization of a particular case of a very general reduction formula for a sum of products of the generalized hypergeometric functions discovered recently by Feng, Kuznetsov and Yang (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 443( 2016), 116-122). Our generalization pertains to the case when the generalized hypergeometric function is reduced to the Kummer function F-1(1) and contains an additional integer shift in the bottom parameter of the Kummer function. In the ultimate section of the paper we prove another formula for a particular product difference of the Kummer functions in terms of a linear combination of these functions.

Abstract:A multivariable hypergeometric function considered recently by Niukkanen and Srivastava (1984, 1985) provides an interesting unification of the generalised hypergeometric function pFq of one variable, Appell and Kampe de Feriet functions of two variables, and Lauricella functions of n variables, and also of many other hypergeometric series which arise naturally in various physical and quantum chemical applications. As pointed out by Srivastava, the multivariable hypergeometric function is an obvious special case of the generalised Lauricella function of n variables, which was first introduced and studied by Srivastava and Daoust (1969). By employing such connections of this multivariable hypergeometric function with the more general multiple hypergeometric functions several interesting and useful properties of this function have been studied, many of which have not been given by Niukkanen. The author derives a number of new reduction formulae for the multivariable hypergeometric function from substantially more general identities involving multiple series with essentially arbitrary terms. Some interesting summation formulae for the multivariable hypergeometric function with x1= . . . =xn=1 and x1= . . . =xn=-1 are also presented.

Abstract:By employing the bisection series approach, two classes of nonterminating 3F2(1)-series are examined. Several new summation formulae are established in closed form through the summation formulae of Gauss and Kummer for the 2F1(±1)-series. They are expressed in terms of well-known functions such as π, Euler–Gamma, and logarithmic functions, which can be used in physics and applied sciences for numerical and theoretical analysis.

Abstract:Two summation theorems concerning the 2F1(1/2)-series due to Gauss and Bailey will be examined by employing the "coefficient extraction method". Forty infinite series concerning harmonic numbers and binomial/multinomial coefficients will be evaluated in closed form, including eight conjectured ones made by Z.-W. Sun. The presented comprehensive coverage for the harmonic series of convergence rate "1/2" may serve as a reference source for readers.

Abstract:An integral representation of the Appell series F2(σ,α1,α2;β1,β2;x,y) is used here to obtain several finite-sum expansions in terms of the less cumbersome hypergeometric functions 2F1 and 3F2. In the case when the parameters σ, α1, α2, β1, and β2 are all positive integers, some of our results may be seen as a generalization of the finite-sum expansions of the Appell series F1 obtained by Cuyt et al. [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 5 (1999) 213–219]. Other important consequences (as well as potential applications) of our results are discussed and a listing of some useful reduction (and transformation) formulas is provided.

Abstract:The Bessel function of the first kind $J_{N}\left(kx\right)$ is expanded in a Fourier-Legendre series, as is the modified Bessel functions of the first kind $I_{N}\left(kx\right)$. The purpose of these expansions in Legendre polynomials was not an attempt to rival established \emph{numerical methods} for calculating Bessel functions, but to provide a form for $J_{N}\left(kx\right)$ useful for \emph{analytical} work in the area of strong laser fields, where analytical integration over scattering angles is essential. Despite their primary purpose, we can easily truncate the series at 21 terms to provide 33-digit accuracy that matches IEEE extended precision in some compilers. The analytical theme is furthered by showing that infinite series of like-powered contributors (involving $\,_{2}F_{3}$ hypergeometric functions) extracted from the Fourier-Legendre series may be summed, having values that are inverse powers of the eight primes $1/\left(2^{i}3^{j}5^{k}7^{l}11^{m}13^{n}17^{o}19^{p}\right)$ multiplying powers of the coefficient $k$.
