Abstract:Post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) is an osteoarthritic condition precipitated by trauma, frequently observed following joint injuries and sports-related damage, with knee ligament tears, meniscal injuries, joint fractures, and dislocations being the most prevalent. [ 1 ] In contrast to primary osteoarthritis, PTOA predominantly affects young and middle-aged adults who are more physically active and have higher functional demands, necessitating earlier and more frequent surgical interventions. [ 2 ] International studies have shown that PTOA incurs annual costs exceeding $3 billion to healthcare systems, profoundly impacting patients' quality of life and imposing significant societal burdens. [ 3 ]
