Abstract:In Bergman and Dirichlet spaces, the shift operator is not an isometry, but it is a left invertible operator. In this paper we give conditions on the left invertible operators such that a operator version, in the sense of Rosenblum and Rovnyak, of the Wold decomposition to take place.

Abstract:Let (X, tau(1)) and (Y, tau(2)) be two Hausdorff locally convex spaces with continuous duals X, and Y', respectively, L (X, Y) be the space of all continuous linear operators from X into Y, K (X, Y) be the space of all compact operators of L (X, Y). Let WOT and UOT be the weak operator topology and uniform operator topology on K (X, Y), respectively. In this paper, we characterize a full-invariant property of K (X, Y); that is, if the sequence space X has the signed-weak gliding hump property, then each; lambda-multiplier WOT-convergent series Sigma(i) T-i in K(X, Y) must be X-multiplier convergent with respect to all topologies between WOT and UOT if and only if each continuous linear operator T: (X, tau(1)) --> or (lambda(beta), sigma(lambda(beta),lambda)) is compact. Universality arising from invertible weighted composition operators

Abstract:A linear operator $U$ acting boundedly on an infinite-dimensional separable complex Hilbert space $H$ is universal if every linear bounded operator acting on $H$ is similar to a scalar multiple of a restriction of $U$ to one of its invariant subspaces. It turns out that characterizing the lattice of closed invariant subspaces of a universal operator is equivalent to solve the Invariant Subspace Problem for Hilbert spaces. In this paper, we consider invertible weighted hyperbolic composition operators and we prove the universality of the translations by eigenvalues of such operators, acting on Hardy and weighted Bergman spaces. Some consequences for the Banach space case are also discussed.

A geometric condition for the invertibility of Toeplitz operators on the Bergman space

Abstract:Invertibility of Toeplitz operators on the Bergman space and the related Douglas problem are long standing open problems. In this paper we study the invertibility problem under the novel geometric condition on the image of the symbols, which relaxes the standard positivity condition. We show that under our geometric assumption, the Toeplitz operator $T_\varphi$ is invertible if and only if the Berezin transform of $|\varphi|$ is invertible in $L^{\infty}$. It is well known that the Douglas problem is still open for harmonic functions. We study a class of rather general harmonic polynomials and characterize the invertibility of the corresponding Toeplitz operators. We also give a number of related results and examples.

Abstract:In this paper we discuss the relationship between noninvertible topological operators, one-form symmetries, and decomposition of two-dimensional quantum field theories, focusing on two-dimensional orbifolds with and without discrete torsion. As one component of our analysis, we study the ring of dimension-zero operators in two-dimensional theories exhibiting decomposition. From a commutative algebra perspective, the rings are naturally associated to a finite number of points, one point for each universe in the decomposition. Each universe is canonically associated to a representation, which defines a projector, an idempotent in the ring of dimension-zero operators. We discuss how bulk Wilson lines act as defects bridging universes, and how Wilson lines on boundaries of two-dimensional theories decompose, and compute actions of projectors. We discuss one-form symmetries of the rings, and related properties. We also give general formulas for projection operators, which previously were computed on a case-by-case basis. Finally, we propose a characterization of noninvertible higher-form symmetries in this context in terms of representations. In that characterization, non-isomorphic universes appearing in decomposition are associated with noninvertible one-form symmetries.

Complex Analysis and Operator Theory

Abstract:This article continues the study of the Hadamard–Bergman operators in the unit disc of the complex plane. These operators arose as a natural generalization of the orthogonal projector and represent an integral realization of multiplier operators. Here we consider mainly the further development of the theory of such operators in the context of operators of variable order, that is, with kernels depending on an external variable. We give some important examples illustrating the relevance of such research, including the integrodifferentiation operator of variable order and certain Volterra type operator studied in complex analysis earlier. It is worth noting that it is the Hadamard–Bergman operators that seem to lay claim to the most direct complex analogue of operators with homogeneous kernels in the unit disc. This opens up excellent opportunities for further development of the study of operators of the Hadamard–Bergman type.

Abstract:Let $n \geq 2$, and let $V=(V_1,\dots, V_n)$ be an $n$-tuple of isometries acting on a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$. We say that $V$ is an $n$-tuple of isometries with equal range if $V_i^{m_i}V_j^{m_j}\mathcal{H} = V_j^{m_j} V_i^{m_i}\mathcal{H}$ and $V_i^{*m_i}V_j^{m_j} \mathcal{H} = V_j^{m_j} V_i^{*m_i}\mathcal{H}$ for $m_i,m_j \in \mathbb{Z}_+$, where $1 \leq i<j \leq n$. We prove that each $n$-tuple of isometries with equal range admits a unique Wold decomposition. We obtain analytic models of the above class, and as a consequence, we show that the wandering data are complete unitary invariants for $n$-tuples of isometries with equal range. Our results unify all prior findings on the decomposition for tuples of isometries in the existing literature.

Understanding of linear operators through Wigner analysis

Abstract:In this work, we extend Wigner's original framework to analyze linear operators by examining the relationship between their Wigner and Schwartz kernels. Our approach includes the introduction of (quasi-)algebras of Fourier integral operators (FIOs), which encompass FIOs of type I and II. The symbols of these operators reside in (weighted) modulation spaces, particularly in Sjöstrand's class, known for its favorable properties in time-frequency analysis. One of the significant results of our study is demonstrating the inverse-closedness of these symbol classes. Our analysis includes fundamental examples such as pseudodifferential operators and Fourier integral operators related to Schr{ö}dinger-type equations. These examples typically feature classical Hamiltonian flows governed by linear symplectic transformations $S \in Sp(d, \mathbb{R})$. The core idea of our approach is to utilize the Wigner kernel to transform a Fourier integral operator $ T $ on $ \mathbb{R}^d $ into a pseudodifferential operator $ K$ on $ \mathbb{R}^{2d}$. This transformation involves a symbol $\sigma$ well-localized around the manifold defined by $ z = S w $.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a finite pseudoreflection group and $\Omega\subseteq \mathbb C^d$ be a bounded domain which is a $G$-space. We establish identities involving Toeplitz operators on the weighted Bergman spaces of $\Omega$ and $\Omega/G$ using invariant theory and representation theory of $G.$ This, in turn, provides techniques to study algebraic properties of Toeplitz operators on the weighted Bergman space on $\Omega/G.$ We specialize on the generalized zero-product problem and characterization of commuting pairs of Toeplitz operators. As a consequence, more intricate results on Toeplitz operators on the weighted Bergman spaces on some specific quotient domains (namely symmetrized polydisc, monomial polyhedron, Rudin's domain) have been obtained.

Abstract:For a partition $\beta$, denote by $N_\beta$ the nilpotent linear operator of Jordan type $\beta$. Given partitions $\beta$, $\gamma$, we investigate the representation space ${}_2{\mathbb V}_{\gamma}^\beta$ of all short exact sequences $$ \mathcal E: 0\to N_\alpha \to N_\beta \to N_\gamma \to 0$$ where $\alpha$ is any partition with each part at most 2. Due to the condition on $\alpha$, the isomorphism type of a sequence $\mathcal E$ is given by an arc diagram $\Delta$; denote by ${\mathbb V}_\Delta$ the subset of ${}_2{\mathbb V}_{\gamma}^\beta$ of all sequences isomorphic to $\mathcal E$. Thus, the space ${}_2{\mathbb V}_{\gamma}^\beta$ carries a stratification given by the subsets of type ${\mathbb V}_\Delta$. We compute the dimension of each stratum and show that the boundary of a stratum ${\mathbb V}_\Delta$ consists exactly of those ${\mathbb V}_{\Delta'}$ where $\Delta'$ is obtained from $\Delta$ by a non-empty sequence of arc moves of five possible types {\bf (A) -- (E)}. The case where all three partitions are fixed has been studied in [3] and [4]. There, arc moves of types {\bf (A) -- (D)} suffice to describe the boundary of a ${\mathbb V}_\Delta$ in ${\mathbb V}_{\alpha,\gamma}^\beta$. Our fifth move {\bf (E)}, "explosion", is needed to break up an arc into two poles to allow for changes in the partition $\alpha$.

Abstract:We reconsider studies of Toeplitz operators on function spaces (the weighted Bergman space, the generalized derivative Hardy space) and the H-Toeplitz operators on the Bergman space. Past studies have considered the presence or absence of hyponormality or questions of contractivity or expansivity; we provide structure theorems for these operators that allow us to recapture, and often considerably improve, these results. In some cases these operators or their adjoints are actually in more restrictive classes, such as subnormal or moment infinitely divisible ($\mathcal{MID}$).

Abstract:We construct non-exact operator spaces satisfying the Weak Expectation Property (WEP) and the Operator space version of the Local Lifting Property (OLLP). These examples should be compared with the example we recently gave of a $C^*$-algebra with WEP and LLP. The construction produces several new analogues among operator spaces of the Gurarii space, extending Oikhberg's previous work. Each of our "Gurarii operator spaces" is associated to a class of finite dimensional operator spaces (with suitable properties). In each case we show the space exists and is unique up to completely isometric isomorphism.

Abstract:This paper presents Wold-type decomposition for various pairs of twisted contractions on Hilbert spaces. We achieve an explicit decomposition for pairs of twisted contractions such that the c.n.u. parts of the contractions are in . The structure for pairs of doubly twisted operators consisting of a power partial isometry has been discussed. It is also shown that for a pair of twisted operators with T as a contraction and V as an isometry, there exists a unique (up to unitary equivalence) pair of doubly twisted isometries on the minimal isometric dilation space of T . Finally, we have given a characterization for pairs of doubly twisted isometries.

Abstract:Let $H$ be an infinite-dimensional complex Hilbert space and let ${\mathcal G}_{\infty}(H)$ be the set of all closed subspaces of $H$ whose dimension and codimension both are infinite. We investigate (not necessarily surjective) transformations of ${\mathcal G}_{\infty}(H)$ sending every pair of subspaces to an equivalent pair of subspaces; two pairs of subspaces are equivalent if there is a linear isometry sending one of these pairs to the other. Let $f$ be such a transformation. We show that there is a unique up to a scalar multiple linear or conjugate linear isometry $L:H\to H$ such that for every $X\in {\mathcal G}_{\infty}(H)$ the image $f(X)$ is the sum of $L(X)$ and a certain closed subspace $O(X)$ orthogonal to the range of $L$. In the case when $H$ is separable, we give the following sufficient condition to assert that $f$ is induced by a linear or conjugate linear isometry: if $O(X)=0$ for a certain $X\in {\mathcal G}_{\infty}(H)$, then the same holds for all $X\in {\mathcal G}_{\infty}(H)$.
