Abstract:Given a Finslerian metric $F$ on a $C^4$-manifold, conformal deformations of $F$ preserving the $R$-Einstein criterion are presented. In particular, locally conformal invariance between two Finslerian $R$-Einstein metrics is characterized.

Abstract:The conformai properties of complex Finsler metrics are studied. We first give a characterization of a compact complex Finsler manifold to be globally conformai Kahler. By considering the total holomorphic curvature and total Ricci curvature in the volume preserved conformal classes, we then study the variational properties of Kahler Finsler metrics. By studying the spectral properties of two average metrics, the stabilities of critical Kähler Finsler metrics are verified. Finally, a Yamabe type problem for mean holomorphic Ricci curvature is considered, and a partial existence result is obtained.

Abstract:A generalized Einstein-Hilbert functional in Finsler geometry is defined and its Euler-Lagrange equation is derived, which depends on not only the Ricci scalar but also the mean Landsberg curvature. Such critical metrics include usual Riemann-Einstein metrics. Some non-Riemannian examples of critical metrics are given. Moreover, some rigidity theorems for a Finsler metric to be Riemannian are obtained.

Abstract:The conformal transformation, which preserves Einstein metrics on Finsler warped product manifolds, is studied in this paper. We obtain sufficient and necessary conditions of a conformal transformation preserving Einstein metrics. In addition, we provide nontrivial examples of conformal transformations. Furthermore, we completely classify Einstein Riemannian warped product metrics and obtain the existence of a nontrivial conformal transformation that preserves Einstein metrics.

Abstract:On a Riemannian manifold, a Liouville transformation is a conformal change which preserves the Ricci tensor. In Finsler geometry, there are various types of Ricci curvature. By adding a Landsberg curvature term to the classical Ricci curvature, we consider the conformal transformations on a Finsler manifold such that this modified Ricci curvature is preserved. We prove that such conformal transformations are homothetic if the space is C-convex. The conformal rigidity for Landsberg surfaces is also obtained.

Abstract:There are two definitions of Einstein-Finsler spaces introduced by Akbar-Zadeh, which we will show is equal along the integral curves of $I$-invariant projective vector fields. The sub-algebra of the $C$-projective vector fields, leaving the $H$-curvature invariant, has been studied extensively. Here we show on a closed Finsler space with negative definite Ricci curvature reduces to that of Killing vector fields. Moreover, if an Einstein-Finsler space admits such a projective vector field then the flag curvature is constant. Finally, a classification of compact isotropic mean Landsberg manifolds admitting certain projective vector fields is obtained with respect to the sign of Ricci curvature.

Abstract:Conformal vector fields play an important role in the study of Finsler geometry, especially in the conformal navigation problem.In this paper, by establishing and solving the corresponding partial differential equations, we determine all spherically symmetric Finsler metrics with generalized radial fields as conformal vector fields completely.These Finsler metrics include Riemannian metrics of constant sectional curvature.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a global rigidity theorem for negatively curved Finsler metrics on a compact manifold of dimension it greater than or equal to 3. We show that for such a Finsler manifold, if the flag curvature is a scalar function on the tangent bundle, then the Finsler metric is of Randers type. We also study the case when the Finsler metric is locally projectively flat.

Abstract:The present work is devoted to investigate anisotropic conformal transformation of conic pseudo-Finsler surfaces $(M,F)$, that is, $ F(x,y)\longmapsto \overline{F}(x,y)=e^{\phi(x,y)}F(x,y)$, where the function $\phi(x,y)$ depends on both position $x$ and direction $y$, contrary to the ordinary (isotropic) conformal transformation which depends on position only. If $F$ is a pseudo-Finsler metric, the above transformation does not yield necessarily a pseudo-Finsler metric. Consequently, we find out necessary and sufficient condition for a (conic) pseudo-Finsler surface $(M,F)$ to be transformed to a (conic) pseudo-Finsler surface $(M,\overline{F})$ under the transformation $\overline{F}=e^{\phi(x,y)}F$. In general dimension, it is extremely difficult to find the anisotropic conformal change of the inverse metric tensor in a tensorial form. However, by using the modified Berwald frame on a Finsler surface, we obtain the change of the components of the inverse metric tensor in a tensorial form. This progress enables us to study the transformation of the Finslerian geometric objects and the geometric properties associated with the transformed Finsler function $\overline{F}$. In contrast to isotropic conformal transformation, we have a non-homothetic conformal factor $\phi(x,y)$ that preserves the geodesic spray. Also, we find out some invariant geometric objects under the anisotropic conformal change. Furthermore, we investigate a sufficient condition for $\overline{F}$ to be dually flat or/and projectively flat. Finally, we study some special cases of the conformal factor $\phi(x,y)$. Various examples are provided whenever the situation needs.

Abstract:In this work an intrinsic projectively invariant distance is used to establish a new approach to the study of projective geometry in Finsler space. It is shown that the projectively invariant distance previously defined is a constant multiple of the Finsler distance in certain case. As a consequence, two projectively related complete Einstein Finsler spaces with constant negative scalar curvature are homothetic. Evidently, this will be true for Finsler spaces of constant flag curvature as well.

On Non-Positively Curved Homogeneous Finsler Metrics

Abstract:In this paper, we prove two rigidity results for non-positively curved homogeneous Finsler metrics. Our first main result yields an extension of Hu-Deng's well-known result proven for the Randers metrics. Indeed, we prove that every connected homogeneous Finsler space with non-positive flag curvature and isotropic S-curvature is Riemannian or locally Minkowskian. We extend the Szabó's rigidity theorem for Berwald surfaces and show that homogeneous isotropic Berwald metrics with non-positive flag curvature are Riemannian or locally Minkowskian. We prove that a homogeneous $(\alpha, \beta)$-metrics has isotropic mean Berwald curvature if and only if it has vanishing mean Berwald curvature generalizing result previously only known in the case of Randers metrics. Our second main result is to show that every homogeneous $(\alpha,\beta)$-metric with non-positive flag curvature and almost isotropic S-curvature is Riemannian or locally Minkowskian.

The curvatures of spherically symmetric Finsler metrics in $R^n$

Abstract: In this paper, we classify the spherically symmetric Berwald metrics in $\mathbb{R}^n$. For the spherically symmetric Landsberg metrics, we prove that there do not exist any non-Berwald metrics among the regular case. The partial differential equation systems which can respectively characterize the spherically symmetric Finsler metrics with constant flag curvature and Einstein metrics of this type is also obtained. Utilizing these equations, we find an effective way to construct the non-projective, non-Randers Finsler metrics with constant flag curvature and many explicit examples are given by this method.

Abstract:Let $(M,F)$ be a compact connected homogeneous non-Riemannian Finsler manifold with $\dim M>1$. We prove that any conformal vector field on $(M,F)$ is a Killing vector field. Further more, we prove that $\rho F$ is a homogeneous Finsler metric on $M$ if and only if $\rho$ is a positive constant function.

Abstract:Invariant geodesic orbit Finsler $(\alpha,\beta)$ metrics $F$ which arise from Riemannian geodesic orbit metrics $\alpha$ on spheres are determined. The relation of Riemannian geodesic graphs with Finslerian geodesic graphs proved in a previous work is now illustrated with explicit constructions. Interesting examples are found such that $(G/H,\alpha)$ is Riemannian geodesic orbit space, but for the geodesic orbit property of $(G/H,F)$ the isometry group has to be extended. It is also shown that projective spaces other than ${\mathbb{R}}P^n$ do not admit invariant purely Finsler $(\alpha,\beta)$ metrics.

Abstract:We develop the method of anholonomic frames with associated nonlinear connection (in brief, N--connection) structure and show explicitly how geometries with local anisotropy (various type of Finsler--Lagrange--Cartan--Hamilton geometry) can be modeled in the metric--affine spaces. There are formulated the criteria when such generalized Finsler metrics are effectively induced in the Einstein, teleparallel, Riemann--Cartan and metric--affine gravity. We argue that every generic off--diagonal metric (which can not be diagonalized by coordinate transforms) is related to specific N--connection configurations. We elaborate the concept of generalized Finsler--affine geometry for spaces provided with arbitrary N--connection, metric and linear connection structures and characterized by gravitational field strengths, i. e. by nontrivial N--connection curvature, Riemannian curvature, torsion and nonmetricity. We apply a irreducible decomposition techniques (in our case with additional N--connection splitting) and study the dynamics of metric--affine gravity fields generating Finsler like configurations. The classification of basic eleven classes of metric--affine spaces with generic local anisotropy is presented.

Abstract:In this paper, we study mean Berwald curvature of the class of homogeneous Finsler manifolds and prove three rigidity theorems. First, we prove that a homogeneous Finsler surface with isotropic mean Berwald curvature and relatively isotropic mean Landsberg curvature must be Riemannian or locally Minkowskian. Then, we show that every homogeneous weakly Berwald surface is Riemannian or locally Mikowskian. This yields an extension of the celebrated Szabó's rigidity theorem for Berwald surfaces. Also, we conclude that every homogeneous Einstein Finsler surface must be Riemannian or locally Minkowskian. It generalizes a result of Deng–Yan that was proved for -metrics. Finally, we study homogeneous weakly Berwald metrics of dimension with scalar flag curvature. It turns out that homogeneous reversible weakly Berwald metrics of scalar flag curvature must be Riemannian or locally Minkowskian.

Abstract:We introduce a new parabolic flow deforming any Riemannian metric on a spin manifold by following a constrained gradient flow of the total scalar curvature. This flow is built out of the well-known Dirac-Einstein functional. We prove local well-posedness of smooth solutions. The present contribution is the first installment of more general program on the Einstein-Dirac problem.

Abstract:We construct a one-parameter family of Lorentzian conformal structures on the canonical circle bundle of a partially integrable contact almost Cauchy-Riemann manifold. This builds on previous work by Leitner, who generalised Fefferman's construction associated to a CR manifold to the non-involutive case. We provide characterisations of these conformal structures. We introduce exact `perturbations' of such Fefferman spaces by a semi-basic one-form, which can be suitably interpreted as a tuple of weighted tensors on the almost CR manifold. The resulting perturbed conformal space is an instance of a so-called nearly Robinson manifolds introduced recently by Fino, Leistner and the present author. We investigate the existence of metrics in these conformal classes which satisfy appropriate sub-conditions of the Einstein equations. These metrics are defined only off cross-sections of Fefferman's circle bundle, and are conveniently expressed in terms of almost Lorentzian densities, which include Gover's almost Einstein scales as a special case. In particular, in dimensions greater than four, almost Einstein scales always arise from an CR-Einstein manifolds. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for a perturbed Fefferman space to be conformally flat on the zero set of an almost Einstein scale. An explicit example of a strictly almost CR-Einstein five-manifold fibred over a strictly almost Kaehler-Einstein four-manifold due to Nurowski and Przanowski is constructed.
