Abstract:The BMA's Northern Ireland Consultants Committee has accepted a pay offer from the Department of Health in a move that ends their pay dispute.After a three week referendum of consultants in Northern Ireland that saw a 75.1% turnout, 94.3% voted to accept a 5.26% average additional uplift. The deal was offered after pay negotiations that led to consultants suspending the strike action that they had planned for June.1The pay offer also includes a revised consultant pay scale with uplifts at all pay points. The offer, which will be backdated to March 2024, is the highest percentage uplift in the UK this year and the highest consultant starting salary in the country.In April consultants in England accepted a pay offer that will see pay uplifts of between 2.85% and 12.8%.
