Abstract:For aerial target detection,it is highly important to study the radiance of sky background.The model and method for calculating the radiance of sky are set up.The calculating formula is established by layered atmosphere.Combined with the formula,the calculating of absorption and scattering is discussed in detail.The absorption of vapor,carbon dioxide,ozone and the scattering of aerosol are mainly considered.At last,the absorption,the scattering,the transmission,the spectral radiance and the radiance of sky are calculated by typical data,furthermore,the results are compared with MODTRAN.And the features of the sky infrared radiation are analyzed.

Abstract:High resolution thermal infrared satellites can provide important observations for applications in various fields. For mine detection application, high resolution data can better resolve mineralogic boundaries. In this paper, an emissivity image simulation method is proposed for a high resolution thermal infrared satellite concept; and the simulated images can be used for mineral recognition and classification algorithm development using such instrument specification. Using Worldview-3 imagery as the simulation data source, the emissivity image has been generated based on a linear mixing model. In addition, accuracy analysis is conducted through comparison between simulated WorldView-3 images and the actual one. Small relative errors in every WorldView-3 band show it is feasible to use our proposed method for image simulation.

Abstract:Using infrared characteristic of space target for detecting and identifying the space target is a kind of effective method. Infrared radiation contrast study of satellite has great significance for both detecting and identifying the satellite, and monitoring satellite condition. In this paper, the method to calculate the radiant heat flux of satellite is given firstly. Then, the mathematical model of the surface temperature of satellite is obtained and the numerical calculation is done. The calculated numerical data is similar to the telemetry data, which proves that the orbit flux and temperature models are correct. Finally, the infrared radiant contrast of every surface on the satellite's body and solar panels were calculated and analyzed. The results show that, on the one hand, satellite infrared radiation in long wave infrared band is larger than that in medium wave infrared band. Abstract:Most of the current illumination models for realistic image synthesis are based on optics of visual range. These models cannot be used to simulate the infrared signature of objects, so they can't meet the requirements of infrared image synthesis. This paper proposes a simulation model of object's infrared signature based on infrared physics and heat transfer, which successfully simulates the infrared signature of a object having the internal heat source. The paper first presents the theoretic model integrating conduction heat transfer, surface heat diffusion and infrared radiation. Initial results demonstrate the potential of our method.

Abstract:A modeling method of infrared characteristics of the on-orbit target was presented by a comprehensive consideration of the influence of structure, material, background, attitude and surface self-shadowing of the target at the larger scale. A physical and mathematical model of background radiation was established based on the blackbody radiation theory. The target surface was divided into regions based on structure and material properties and each region was divided into grids by finite element method. Bidirectional Reflection Distribution Function (BRDF) measured in advance was introduced to describe infrared reflection characteristics of each grid and a mathematical model on reflected radiation of the target was built by summing reflection of each grid. The thermal equilibrium temperature of the target surface was calculated by node network method and a mathematical model on emitted radiation of the target was built. Then a body coordinate system was set to describe the relative positions of the target, background radiation sources and detector by coordinate conversion and determine contributed surfaces of the target to the detector. Simulation of the target infrared characteristics on orbit was achieved. The results provide a feasibility of using material properties for satellite detection to within the accuracy of materials measurement and real-time simulation capabilities of computer.

Abstract:Most of current image synthesis models are based on optics of visible-spectrum. While simulating the illumination effect of visible light, they cannot show the infrared signature of the objects. This paper presents a synthesis model for generating realistic infrared images. We first establish a heat equilibrium equation of the object surface. Then according to it and the heat transfer inside the object and on the boundary surface of the object, we compute the temperature and radiometries of each surface patch of the object. Finally on the basis of the radiometries, each patch is drawn by Gouraud Shading. Experimental examples of the generated infrared images are presented, which illustrate the potential of our method.

This paper presents a global infrared image synthesis model for large-scale complex urban scene which can be applied to various weather conditions and suitable for various parts of the urban scene. First, we analysis the influence of various factors on the infrared characteristic of urban scene Then based on principle of energy equilibrium we propose a global infrared image synthesis model for urban scene and discuss the specific forms for various parts of the scene. As the rendering principle for infrared scene differs from that for visible scene, we propose a novel rendering criterion for infrared scene. Finally based on Planck's law, infrared images of urban scene from different viewpoints at different time are presented. Field measurement further shows that our model is robust and feasible.
Research on Verification of Infrared Scene Simulation Model Based on Remote Sensing Data

Abstract:In this paper, the visible and infrared measurement data of different ground scenes are used as the modeling basis to build infrared scene models for typical ground scenes. The infrared spectrum data of GF-5 satellite were used to verify the simulation data of the ground scene that under the same detection conditions. Based on the acquisition of satellite infrared channel calibration data and spectral response curve, the infrared radiation of the interested background is obtained. The solar radiation value and atmospheric transmission (transmittance radiation) under the corresponding detection conditions are calculated. Based on the remote sensing test results, the error statistics of the calculation results of the ground object background infrared model are carried out. The results show that the maximum statistical error between the theoretical calculation results and the remote sensing test results is 29.0%, and the average absolute error of the six bands is 15.2%. From the comparison accuracy of remote sensing test data, the simulation results of the ground scenes simulation model are reasonable and the model has high reliability.

Abstract:This paper proposes a new method to generate the dynamic infrared outer space scene in real time. In the paper, we first model the dynamic infrared background of star sky based on the infrared star catalogue and temporal and spacial coordinate transformations. We also present a new concept called infrared star magnitude for given infrared receiving wavebands to display the infrared star sky effectively. Then we put forward an infrared image synthesis model for outer space targets based on the method of divided elements and energy equilibrium. To generate the dynamic infrared outer space scene, several simplification and accelerating techniques such as Billboard, Levels of Details and Occlusion Culling are hired to accelerate the generating speed of the scene. Finally infrared images of targets, background of outer space scene at different infrared receiving wavebands are drawn and the dynamic infrared outer space scene is successfully carried out in real time.

Abstract:A modeling method of infrared dynamic radiation characteristics of the space target was presented. Infrared radiation of the target consists of self -emitted infrared radiation and reflected background infrared radiation. A physical model of radiation characteristics of the space target was established according to target and background characteristics. The target surface was divided into regions and grids based on material properties. According to thermal equilibrium equation of outer space target, a mathematical model on infrared radiation characteristics of the space target was presented based on conservation of energy principle. Bidirectional Reflection Distribution Function (BRDF) was introduced to describe infrared reflection characteristics of the target surface element, and a mathematical model on infrared reflection characteristics of the target was built by superimposing all the reflection components of surface elements. Finally, a body coordinate system was set and the relative positions of the target, the background radiation sources and the detector were determined in terms of coordinate conversion.Simulation of the target infrared characteristics in orbit was achieved according to its given orbital parameters, physical dimension and physical parameter of the target. The calculations show the model is valid and it can provide reference data to visible detection and recognition of space targets.

Abstract:The infrared imaging equipment is widely used because it can acquire more thermal and material information from infrared band than from visible band. Based on the lighting model which is widely used in computer graphics and the radiation transfer law, a simplified thermal infrared imaging computation model is derived. The following works have been done to derive the model: 1) Adding the surface temperature distribution of the 3D model; 2) Specifying the physical material of the 3D geometry model; 3) Merging the self emitting and the detector response into the imaging model as one term. The ray tracing method is applied to construct an infrared imaging simulation system which can generate the synthetic infrared images of a 3D scene from any angle of view. To validate the infrared imaging computation model, several typical 3D scenes are made, and their infrared images are calculated to compare and contrast with the measured infrared images obtained by a middle infrared band imaging camera. The result shows that: 1) The infrared imaging computation model is capable of producing infrared images which is very similar to those received by thermal infrared camera; 2) The infrared imaging computation model can well simulate the relative brightness contrast in the infrared images, it also can reflect most of the basic infrared imaging characteristics; 3) Some geometry, thermal and material information also can be retrieved from the synthetic infrared images. Quantitative analysis shows that the absolute brightness does not match well, and the reasons are analyzed. By the synthetic infrared images, it also illustrates the difficulty and complexity in infrared image analysis and simulation. © 2009 SPIE.

Abstract:A modeling method of infrared imaging characteristics of a space-based target was presented. Background radiation environment of a space-based target was analyzed and the background radiation mainly consists of direct radiation of the sun, thermal radiation and reflected radiation of the earth. The target surface was divided into regions based on geometrical shape and surface material characteristics and a surface equation of each region was built based on its body coordinate system. Each region was divided into meshes supposing that each mesh is a micro-plane. A bidirectional reflection distribution function (BRDF) model considering the characteristics of surface Gauss statistics and self-shadow was introduced to describe reflected infrared of each mesh of the target surface. The emitted infrared radiation of each mesh of the target surface was described according to its thermal equilibrium temperature. Then a mathematical model on infrared radiation imaging characteristics of the space-based target was built in terms of the given infrared detector. The relative positions of the space-based target, the background radiation sources and the detector are determined by orbital parameters based on coordinate conversion. Visual surfaces of the target to observation system were determined by vector coordinate method. Simulation of optical imaging characteristics of the target in orbit was achieved according to its given geometrical dimensions and physical parameters. The results show the method is feasible and robust for infrared characteristics of the space-based target when single reflection is considered and its surface is regular and can be described in a surface equation. It can provide a facility to real-time analysis of infrared imaging characteristics of the space-based targets. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Based on the infrared radiation characters of outer space targets and environment, considering the technologies related to the infrared star grade, atmosphere attenuation, and coordinate transformation, this paper builds the theoretical model of infrared radiation from flying satellites and background. Furthermore, using the database management of satellites orbits and catalogue data, the dynamic scene image synthesis of satellites and background is implemented. Finally, we can walkthrough the virtual scenes from different viewports, and analyze the characters of these dynamic simulating images. Research results have significance for space targets exploration, identify and tracking.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a high-confidence, super-resolution method for short-wave infrared remote-sensing images based on characteristic deduction form high-resolution visible images. First, based on the radiative transmission mechanism of full remote-sensing imaging link, a ground object characterization model based on the dark object method was established to achieve the inversion of the object’s ground reflection characteristics of high-resolution visible images. Second, the reflectance information of the specified infrared band can be deduced combined with the reflectance matching of the typical ground object spectral library. On this basis, combined with the characterization modeling of remote-sensing imaging link—such as atmosphere, optical system, platform, and detector—a high-resolution infrared remote-sensing image reconstruction method is proposed. Based on the imaging degradation model between high- and low-resolution infrared images, the results of high-resolution reconstruction were corrected using measured infrared images. Lastly, the final fusion-super-resolution image can be obtained. The results show that the proposed fusion-super-resolution method yields high-resolution infrared images more realistically than traditional image fusion algorithms and shows better structural similarity index and visual information fidelity results, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed infrared remote-sensing image fusion-super-resolution method.
