Abstract:Describing the dynamical properties of explored systems, one finds the need to distinguish between various types of trajectories. The nature of trajectories is often split into regular and irregular, which will be shown in this paper as too crude. Hence, the main aim of this paper is to give a classification of trajectories reflecting persistence, regularity, chaos, intermittency, and transiency. To depict such phenomena, classical examples from discrete (the Rulkov map) and continuous (the Lorenz system) dynamical systems are applied. In these cases, the maximal Lyapunov exponent, the 0-1 test for chaos, the bifurcation diagram, and the Fourier analysis are applied, and these dynamics characteristics are confronted with trajectory types.

Abstract:Here we study a class of second-order nonautonomous differential equations, and the corresponding planar and spatial systems, from the point of view of fractal geometry. The fractal oscillatority of solutions at infinity is measured by oscillatory and phase dimensions. The oscillatory dimension is defined as the box dimension of the reflected solution near the origin, while the phase dimension is defined as the box dimension of a trajectory of the corresponding planar system in the phase plane. Using the phase dimension of the second-order equation we compute the box dimension of a spiral trajectory of the spatial system, lying in Lipschitzian or H\" olderian surfaces. This phase dimension of the second-order equation is connected to the asymptotics of the associated Poincar\'e map. Also, the box dimension of a trajectory of the reduced normal form with one eigenvalue equals to zero, and a pair of pure imaginary eigenvalues has been computed when limit cycles bifurcate from the origin.

Abstract:International Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, Ahead of Print. The stochastic dynamical [math] equation is utilized as a robust framework for modeling the behavior of complex systems characterized by randomness and nonlinearity, with applications spanning various scientific fields. The aim of this paper is to employ an analytical method to identify stochastic traveling wave solutions of the dynamical [math] equation. Novel hyperbolic and rational functions are investigated through this method. A Galilean transformation is applied to reformulate the model into a planar dynamical system, which enables a comprehensive qualitative analysis. Additionally, the emergence of chaotic and quasi-periodic patterns following the introduction of a perturbation term is addressed. Simulation results indicate that significant changes in the systems' dynamic behavior are caused by adjusting the amplitude and frequency parameters. Our findings indicate the impact of the method on system dynamics and its efficacy in analyzing solitons and phase behavior in nonlinear models. These discoveries provide fresh perspectives on how the suggested method can lead to notable shifts in the systems' dynamic behavior. The effectiveness and practicality of the proposed methodology in scrutinizing soliton solutions and phase visualizations across diverse nonlinear models are underscored by these revelations.

Abstract:This article explores the evolution of Lorenz trajectories within attractors. Specifically, based on the characteristics of the tangents to trajectories, we derive quantitative standards for determining the spatial position of trajectory lines. The Lorenz trajectory is decomposed into four parts. This standard is objective and quantitative and is independent of the initial field of the Lorenz equation and the calculation scheme; importantly, it is designed based on the inherent dynamic characteristics of the Lorenz equation. Linear fitting of the trajectories in the left and right equilibrium point regions shows that the trajectories lie on planes, indicating the existence of linear features in the nonlinear system. This study identifies the fundamental causes of chaos in the Lorenz equation using the microscopic evolution and local characteristics of the trajectories, and indicating that the spatial position of the initial field is important for their predictability. We theoretically demonstrate that mutation is essentially self-regulation within chaotic systems. This scheme is designed according to the evolution characteristics of Lorenz trajectories, and thus has certain methodological limitations that mean it may not be applicable to other chaotic systems. However, it does depict the causes of chaos and elucidates the sensitivity of differential equations to initial values in terms of trajectory evolution.

Abstract:A cell dynamical system model for deterministic chaos enables precise quantification of the round-off error growth,i.e., deterministic chaos in digital computer realizations of mathematical models of continuum dynamical systems. The model predicts the following: (a) The phase space trajectory (strange attractor) when resolved as a function of the computer accuracy has intrinsic logarithmic spiral curvature with the quasiperiodic Penrose tiling pattern for the internal structure. (b) The universal constant for deterministic chaos is identified as the steady-state fractional round-off error k for each computational step and is equal to 1 /sqr(tau) (=0.382) where tau is the golden mean. (c) The Feigenbaum's universal constants a and d are functions of k and, further, the expression 2(a**2) = (pie)*d quantifies the steady-state ordered emergence of the fractal geometry of the strange attractor. (d) The power spectra of chaotic dynamical systems follow the universal and unique inverse power law form of the statistical normal distribution.

Abstract:Dynamics are constructed for fractals utilizing the motion associated with Duffing equation. Using the paradigm of Fatou-Julia iteration, we develop iterations to map fractals accompanied with a criterion to ensure that the image is again a fractal. Because of the close link between mappings, differential equations and dynamical systems, one can introduce dynamics for fractals through differential equations such that they become points of the solution trajectory. There is no doubt that the differential equations have a distinct role for studying chaos. Therefore, characterization of fractals as trajectory points is an important step toward a better understanding of the link between chaos and fractal geometry. Moreover, it would be helpful to enhance and widen the scope of their applications in physics and engineering.
Deterministic many-body dynamics with multifractal response

Abstract:Dynamical systems can display a plethora of ergodic and ergodicity breaking behaviors, ranging from simple periodicity to ergodicity and chaos. Here we report an unusual type of non-ergodic behavior in a many-body discrete-time dynamical system, specifically a multi-periodic response with multi-fractal distribution of equilibrium spectral weights at all rational frequencies. This phenomenon is observed in the momentum-conserving variant of the newly introduced class of the so-called parity check reversible cellular automata, which we define with respect to an arbitrary bi-partite lattice. Although the models display strong fragmentation of phase space of configurations, we demonstrate that the effect qualitatively persists within individual fragmented sectors, and even individual typical many-body trajectories. We provide detailed numerical analysis of examples on 2D (honeycomb, square) and 3D (cubic) lattices.

Abstract:In this paper, we explore the intriguing field of fractal calculus as it pertains to fractal curves and fractal sets. Our study includes an exploration of the method analogues of the separable method and the integrating factor technique for solving α -order differential equations. Notably, we extend our analysis to solve Fractal Bernoulli differential equations. The applications of our findings are then showcased through the solutions of problems such as fractal compound interest and the escape velocity of the earth in fractal space and time. Visual representations of our results are also provided to enhance understanding.

Abstract:The role played by non extensive thermodynamics in physical systems has been under intense debate for the last decades. With many applications in several areas, the Tsallis statistics has been discussed in details in many works and triggered an interesting discussion on the most deep meaning of entropy and its role in complex systems. Some possible mechanisms that could give rise to non extensive statistics have been formulated along the last several years, in particular a fractal structure in thermodynamics functions was recently proposed as a possible origin for non extensive statistics in physical systems. In the present work we investigate the properties of such fractal thermodynamical system and propose a diagrammatic method for calculations of relevant quantities related to such system. It is shown that a system with the fractal structure described here presents temperature fluctuation following an Euler Gamma Function, in accordance with previous works that evidenced the connections between those fluctuations and Tsallis statistics. Finally, the fractal scale invariance is discussed in terms of the Callan-Symanzik Equation.

Abstract:In this study, we delve into a novel dynamic system inspired by Montgomery's pair correlation conjecture in number theory. The dynamic system is intricately designed to emulate the behavior of the nontrivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function. Our exploration encompasses bifurcation analysis and Lyapunov exponents to scrutinize the system's behavior and stability, offering insights into both small and large initial conditions. Our efforts extend to unveiling the probability distribution characterizing the dynamics for varying initial conditions. The dynamic system unfolds intricate behaviors, displaying sensitivity to initial conditions and revealing complex bifurcation patterns. Small deviations in the initial conditions unveil significantly different trajectories, reminiscent of chaotic systems. Lyapunov exponents become our lens into understanding stability and chaos within the system. A comparative analysis between the dynamic system's approximate solutions and the actual nontrivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function enhances our comprehension of model accuracy and its potential implications for number theory. This research illuminates the versatility of dynamic systems as analogs for studying complex mathematical phenomena. It provides fresh perspectives on the pair correlation conjecture, establishing connections with nonlinear dynamics and chaos theory. Notably, we delve into the boundedness of solutions for both small and large initial conditions, unraveling the distinctive probability distribution governing the dynamics in each scenario. Furthermore, we introduce an in-depth analysis of the entropy of our dynamic system for both small and large initial conditions. The entropy study enhances our understanding of the predictability and stability of the system, shedding light on its behavior in different parameter regimes.

Influence of Entropy Changes on First Passage Time in the Thermodynamics of trajectories

Abstract:For thermodynamics of trajectories, an ensemble containing dynamical activity and first-passage time (FPT) random variables is considered. The dependence of the average FPT on the total non-negative change in entropy is obtained. The same dependencies obtained for dynamic activity, dispersion of dynamic activity and FPT, as well as for the correlation of dynamic activity and FPT. Application of the obtained results to model systems makes it possible to obtain dependences of entropy changes containing a stationary nonequilibrium state and equilibrium states. To relate changes in entropy to the conjugate parameter of the FPT, three models of distribution functions are used, which are applied to classical two-level and three-level systems, as well as to a quantum two-level system.

Abstract:The established thermodynamic formalism of chaotic dynamics, valid at statistical equilibrium, is here generalized to systems out of equilibrium, that have yet to relax to a steady state. A relation between information, escape rate, and the phase-space average of an integrated observable (e.g. Lyapunov exponent, diffusion coefficient) is obtained for finite time. Most notably, the thermodynamic treatment may predict the phase-space profile of any finite-time integrated observable from the leading and subleading eigenfunctions of the Perron-Frobenius/Koopman transfer operator. Examples of that equivalence are shown, and the theory is tested analytically on the Bernoulli map, while numerically on the perturbed cat map, the Hénon map, and the Ikeda map, all paradigms of chaos.

A geometrical interpretation of critical exponents

Abstract:We develop the hypothesis that the dynamics of a given system may lead to the activity being constricted to a subset of space, characterized by a fractal dimension smaller than the space dimension. We also address how the response function might be sensitive to this change in dimensionality. We discuss how this phenomenon is observable in growth processes and near critical points for systems in equilibrium. In particular, we determine the fractal dimension $d_f$ for the Ising model and validate it via computer simulations for two dimensions.

Abstract:We show that the probability distribution function that best fits the distribution of return times between two consecutive visits of a chaotic trajectory to finite size regions in phase space deviates from the exponential statistics by a small power-law term, a term that represents the deterministic manifestation of the dynamics, which can be easily experimentally detected and theoretically estimated. We also provide simpler and faster ways to calculate the positive Lyapunov exponents and the short-term correlation function by either realizing observations of higher probable returns or by calculating the eigenvalues of only one very especial unstable periodic orbit of low-period. Finally, we discuss how our approaches can be used to treat data coming from complex systems.

Abstract:Unstable closed orbits in a chaotic Duffing system were analyzed using Floquet theory. A trajectory wanders from one unstable closed orbit to another and is twisted to form a trajectory with the form of Mobius band. There is a possibility to control the trajectory in an unstable closed orbit by making use of the twisting effect.

Abstract:Our understanding of earthquakes is based on the theory of plate tectonics. Earthquake dynamics is the study of the interactions of plates (solid disjoint parts of the lithosphere) which produce seismic activity. Over the last about fifty years many models have come up which try to simulate seismic activity by mimicking plate plate interactions. The validity of a given model is subject to the compliance of the synthetic seismic activity it produces to the well known empirical laws which describe the statistical features of observed seismic activity. Here we present a review of two such models of earthquake dynamics with main focus on a relatively new model namely The Two Fractal Overlap Model.

Abstract:This paper studies for a class of Z-extensions of dynamical systems including Z-periodic Lorentz gas the asymptotic behavior of the number of self-intersections of the trajectory of the flow. It concludes on a functional limit theorem for the auto-intersection process by studying Skorohod convergence of discrete local time of a dynamical random walk toward the local time of a Brownian motion.

Abstract:The Trajectory Class Fluctuation Theorem (TCFT) substantially strengthens the Second Law of Thermodynamics -- that, in point of fact, can be a rather weak bound on resource fluxes. Practically, it improves empirical estimates of free energies, a task known to be statistically challenging, and has diagnosed successful and failed information processing in experimentally-implemented Josephson-junction information engines. The development here justifies that empirical analysis, explicating its mathematical foundations. The TCFT reveals the thermodynamics induced by macroscopic system transformations for each measurable subset of system trajectories. In this, it directly combats the statistical challenge of extremely rare events that dominate thermodynamic calculations. And, it reveals new forms of free energy -- forms that can be solved for analytically and practically estimated. Conceptually, the TCFT unifies a host of previously-established fluctuation theorems, interpolating from Crooks' Detailed Fluctuation Theorem (single trajectories) to Jarzynski's Equality (trajectory ensembles).
