Abstract:The development of photocatalytic intermolecular hydroamination reaction between N‐aminated dihydropyridines and unactivated alkenes is reported. Metal‐free co‐catalysts, rhodamine 6G and thiophenol, in presence of visible light are used to initiate the process. The transformation shows a broad substrate scope, both alkenes and amidyl radical can act as coupling partners. The radical strategy provides excellent anti‐Markovnikov selectivity and regioselectivity in diene substrates.

Abstract:An efficient, transition-metal-free, photocatalytic three-component intermolecular trifluoromethylation-gem-difluoroallylation of unactivated alkenes has been achieved. This developed protocol employs the manageable Langlois reagent (NaSO2CF3) as the CF3 radical source and α-trifluoromethyl alkene as the gem-difluoroalkenyl source in the presence of MesAcr as a photocatalyst. The transformation progresses under mild reactions with a variety of compatible alkenes and providing diverse δ-trifluoromethyl gem-difluoroalkenes in moderate to good yields.

Abstract:Dual catalyst-controlled intramolecular unactivated C(sp(3))-H amination and oxygenation of carbamates merging visible-light photocatalysis and earth-abundant transition metal catalysis have been reported. Useful amino alcohol and diol derivatives could be selectively obtained from readily available tertiary alcohol derivatives. The possible mechanisms have been proposed via a 1,5-HAT process followed by Lewis acid-controlled cyclization. The nickel and zinc catalysts inhibit the formation of oxygenation and amination products, respectively. An interesting phenomenon of chirality transfer is also observed.

Abstract:A photoredox-catalyzed sequential decarboxylative/defluorinative aminoalkylation of CF3-alkenes with N-arylglycines is described. This metal-free and redox-neutral protocol provided efficient access to the monofluoroalkenyl-1,5-diamines in good yields with excellent functional group compatibility. Mechanistic studies revealed that the reaction proceeds via a radical pathway with the gem-difluoroalkenyl amine as an intermediate.

Abstract:We report an efficient photocatalytic protocol for the defluorocyanoalkylation and defluoroacylation of α-trifluoromethyl styrenes by utilizing oxime esters as radical donors, allowing for the preparation of diverse gem-difluoroalkenes. The treatment of α-trifluoromethyl styrenes with cyclobutanone oxime esters led to the formation of distal cyano group-anchored gem-difluoroalkenes. Notably, adding K2CO3 as an inorganic base to the photocatalytic system afforded γ,γ-difluoroallylic ketones by utilizing acyl oxime esters as the acylating agents. Preliminary mechanistic investigations into this reaction pathway revealed the involvement of single-electron reduction, C-C bond cleavage initiated by iminyl radicals, radical addition, and β-fluoride elimination steps.

Abstract:A metal free, visible-light driven & alpha;-C(sp(3))-H gem-difluoroallylation of glycine derivatives with trifluoromethyl alkenes and 1,3-enynes is presented. This protocol was compatible with a broad scope of unactivated alkenes, affording the diverse monofluorocyclohexene products in moderate to excellent yields. Furthermore, the value of this method was demonstrated by the gram‐scale synthesis, late‐stage functionalization and synthesis of various valuable and complex monofluorocyclohexene derivatives.

Abstract:Fluorine-containing moieties show significant effects in improving the properties of functional molecules. Consequently, efficient methods for installing them into target compounds are in great demand, especially those enabled by metal-free catalysis. Here we show a diazaphospholene-catalyzed hydrodefluorination of trifluoromethylalkenes to chemoselectively construct gem-difluoroalkenes and terminal monofluoroalkenes by simple adjustment of the reactant stoichiometry. This metal-free hydrodefluorination features mild reaction conditions, good group compatibility, and almost quantitative yields for both product types. Stoichiometric experiments indicated a stepwise mechanism: hydridic addition to fluoroalkenes and subsequent β-F elimination from hydrophosphination intermediates. Density functional theory calculations disclosed the origin of chemoselectivity, regioselectivity and stereoselectivity, suggesting an electron-donating effect of the alkene-terminal fluorine atom.

Abstract:The selective functionalization of difluoromethyl groups (‐CF2) is a promising approach and an attractive synthetic route for accessing fluorine‐containing moieties with medicinal benefits. Here, we report a case of a C‒N coupling reaction between bromodifluoropropene with heterocyclic amines, such as indole, pyrrole, and imidazole, promoted by an alkali without the use of transition metal catalysis. This reaction differs from existing methods in that it does not undergo a difluoromethylation isomerization reaction but directly retains the structure of the terminal olefin. This chemical conversion process has a wide substrate range, good functional group tolerance, and an ideal reaction conversion rate, making it an effective new method for the difluoropropenation of heterocyclic amines.
