Abstract:The article recently published by M. Gai et al. claims to reach conclusions from a collaborative experiment dedicated to the study of the 7Be(n,alpha) reaction. These claims were published with no authorization from key collaborators, including a PI of the experiment. The Authors of the present Comment reject the conclusions of M. Gai et et al. and condemn the scientific and ethical misconduct involved in their publication. A formal Comment, similarly expressing the Authors' rejection of these conclusions was submitted to EPJ Web of Conferences who published the above article.

Abstract:In this work we revisit the famous Fermi two-atom problem, which concerns how relativistic causality impacts atomic transition probabilities, using the tools from relativistic quantum information and algebraic quantum field theory. The problem has sparked different analyses from many directions and angles since the proposed solution by Buchholz and Yngvason [ Phys. Rev. Lett. 73 , 613 (1994)]. Some of these analyses employ various approximations, heuristics, and perturbative methods, which tends to render some of the otherwise useful insights somewhat obscured. It is also noted that they are all studied in flat spacetime. We show that current tools in relativistic quantum information, combined with an algebraic approach to quantum field theory, are now powerful enough to provide fuller and cleaner analysis of the Fermi two-atom problem for arbitrary curved spacetimes in a completely nonperturbative manner. Our result gives the original solution of Buchholz and Yngvason a very operational reinterpretation in terms of qubits interacting with a quantum field and allows for various natural generalizations and inclusion of detector-based local measurement for the quantum field [ Phys. Interference is in the eye of the beholder: application to the coherent control of collisional processes

Abstract:Interference is widely regarded as a foundational attribute of quantum mechanics. However, for a given experimental arrangement, interference can either contribute or not contribute to the outcome depending upon the basis in which it is measured. This observation is both foundational and particularly relevant to coherent control of molecular processes, an approach based upon quantum interference. Here we address this issue and its relevance to controlling molecular processes via the "coherent control scattering (CCS) matrix", a formalism that allows an analysis of modifications in interference structure resulting from a change of basis. This analysis reveals that the change in interference structure can be attributed to the non-commutativity of the transformation matrix with the CCS matrix, and the non-orthogonality of the transformation. Additionally, minimal interference is shown to be associated with the CCS eigenbasis, and that the Fourier transform of the eigenvectors of the CCS matrix provides the maximal interference and hence the best coherent control. The change of controllability through a change of basis is illustrated with an example of $^{85}$Rb+ $^{85}$Rb scattering. In addition, the developed formalism is applied to explain recent experimental results on He + D$_2$ inelastic scattering demonstrating the presence or absence of interference depending on the basis.

Abstract:Following a well-established practice of publishing commentaries to articles of other authors who work on materials that were earlier studied by them (n.b. six published comments[1-6]), Marek Szafrański(MS) and Andrzej Katrusiak (AK) have filed on the preprint server arXiv a manuscript entitled "On the giant deformation and ferroelectricity of guanidinium nitrate"[7] with comments on our article "Exceptionally high work density of a ferroelectric dynamic organic crystal around room temperature" published in Nature Communications (2022, 13, 2823).[8] Both in the submitted comment as well as in the required (by the journal) direct communication with us preceding its posting, MS and AK have expressed dissatisfaction with the choice of literature references in our article, for which they felt that their previous work on this material has not been cited to a sufficient extent. In their comment, they summarize their other remarks on our article as "the structural determinations of GN [guanidinium nitrate] crystals, their phase transitions and associated giant deformation, as well as its detailed structural mechanism, the molecular dynamics and dielectric properties were reported before, while the semiconductivity, ferroelectricity, and fatigue resistance of the GN [guanidinium nitrate] crystals cannot be confirmed."[7] Apart from the sentiments of MS and AK on our choice of cited literature, we find their comments on the scientific content of our article to be strongly biased towards their own results and unfounded. Below, we provide a detailed response to their comments.

Abstract:In a series of papers, we have proposed a non-perturbative field-theoretic approach to deal with strong electron-phonon and strong Coulomb interactions. The key ingredient of such an approach is to determine the full fermion-boson vertex corrections by solving a number of self-consistent Ward-Takahashi identities. Palle (see Phys. Rev. B 110, 026501 (2024), <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2404.02918" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2404.02918">arXiv:2404.02918</a>) argued that our Ward-Takahashi identities failed to include some important additional terms and thus are incorrect. We agree that our Ward-Takahashi identities have ignored some potentially important contributions and here give some remarks on the role played by the additional terms.

Abstract:We develop a discrete fermion approach for modeling the strong interaction of an arbitrary system interacting with continuum electronic reservoirs. The approach is based on a pseudofermion decomposition of the continuum bath correlation functions and is only limited by the accuracy of this decomposition. We show that to obtain this decomposition, one can allow for imaginary pseudofermion parameters, and strong damping in individual pseudofermions, without introducing unwanted approximations. For a noninteracting single-resonant level, we benchmark our approach against an analytical solution and an exact hierarchical-equations-of-motion approach. We also show that, for the interacting case, this simple method can capture the strongly correlated low-temperature physics of Kondo resonance, even in the difficult scaling limit, by employing matrix product state techniques. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevResearch.5.033011 Published by the American Physical Society under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license.
