Abstract:We study Lusztig's theory of cells for quantum affine $\mathfrak{sl}_n$. Using the geometric construction of the quantum group due to Lusztig and Ginzburg--Vasserot, we describe explicitly the two-sided cells, the number of left cells in a two--sided cell, and the asymptotic algebra, verifying conjectures of Lusztig.

Abstract:We develop algebraic and geometrical approaches toward canonical bases for affine q -Schur algebras of arbitrary type introduced in this paper. A duality between an affine q -Schur algebra and a corresponding affine Hecke algebra is established. We introduce an inner product on the affine q -Schur algebra, with respect to which the canonical basis is shown to be positive and almost orthonormal. We then formulate the cells and asymptotic forms for affine q -Schur algebras, and develop their basic properties analogous to the cells and asymptotic forms for affine Hecke algebras established by Lusztig. The results on cells and asymptotic algebras are also valid for q -Schur algebras of arbitrary finite type.

Abstract:Kazhdan and Lusztig introduce the $W$-graphs to describe the cells and molecules corresponding to the Coxeter groups. Building on this foundation, Lusztig defines the a-funtion to classify the cells, as well as the molecules. Marberg then generalizes Kazhdan and Lusztig's $W$-graphs, using fixed-point-free involutions as their indices. The molecules of the two new $S_n$-graphs are then classified via two correspondence similar to RSK correspondence by Marberg and me. In this paper, we define an analogue of the Lusztig a-function and finish the classification of cells by proving that every molecule in the $S_n$-graphs is indeed a cell.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the structures of Schur algebra and Lusztig algebra associated to partial flag varieties of affine type D. We show that there is a subalgebra of Lusztig algebra and the quantum groups arising from this subalgebras via stabilization procedures is a coideal subalgebra of quantum group of affine $\mathfrak{sl}$ type. We construct monomial and canonical bases of the idempotented quantum algebra and establish the positivity properties of the canonical basis with respect to multiplication and the bilinear pairing.

Abstract:We investigate quantum cellular automata (QCA) on one-dimensional spin systems defined over a subalgebra of the full local operator algebra - the symmetric subalgebra under a finite Abelian group symmetry $G$. For systems where each site carries a regular representation of $G$, we establish a complete classification of such subalgebra QCAs based on two topological invariants: (1) a surjective homomorphism from the group of subalgebra QCAs to the group of anyon permutation symmetries in a $(2+1)d$ $G$ gauge theory; and (2) a generalization of the Gross-Nesme-Vogts-Werner (GNVW) index that characterizes the flow of the symmetric subalgebra. Specifically, two subalgebra QCAs correspond to the same anyon permutation and share the same index if and only if they differ by a finite-depth unitary circuit composed of $G$-symmetric local gates. We also identify a set of operations that generate all subalgebra QCAs through finite compositions. As an example, we examine the Kramers-Wannier duality on a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetric subalgebra, demonstrating that it maps to the $e$-$m$ permutation in the two-dimensional toric code and has an irrational index of $\sqrt{2}$. Therefore, it cannot be extended to a QCA over the full local operator algebra and mixes nontrivially with lattice translations.

Abstract:We extend the techniques in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2209.08865" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2209.08865">arXiv:2209.08865</a>(1) to the non-simply-laced situation, and calculate explicit special values of parabolic affine inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for subregular nilpotent orbits. We thus obtain explicit character formulas for certain irreducible representations of affine Lie algebras. As particular cases, we compute characters of simple vertex algebras $V_{k}(\mathfrak{g})$ for $k=-1,\ldots,-b$, where $b$ is the largest label of the highest short coroot $\theta^\vee$. Conjecturally, all ordinary modules over $V_{-b}(\mathfrak{g})$ are covered by our computations. As an application, we obtain the explicit formulas for flavoured Schur indices of rank one Argyres-Douglas 4d SCFTs with flavour symmetry $G_2$ and $B_3$. Our results are proved using the geometry of the Springer resolution. We identify the cell quotient of the anti-spherical module over $\widehat{W}$ corresponding to the subregular cell with a certain one-dimensional extension of a module defined by Lusztig. We describe the canonical basis in this module geometrically and present an explicit description of the corresponding objects in the derived category of equivariant coherent sheaves on the Springer resolution. They correspond to irreducible objects in the heart of a certain $t$-structure that we describe using an equivariant version of the derived McKay correspondence.

Abstract:A geometric construction of quantum Schur algebras was given by Beilinson, Lusztig and MacPherson in terms of pairs of flags in a vector space. By viewing such pairs of flags as representations of a poset, we give a recursive formula for the structure constants of quantum Schur algebras which is related to certain Hall polynomials. As an application, we provide a direct proof of the fundamental multiplication formulas which play a key role in the Beilinson–Lusztig–MacPherson realization of quantum gln. In the appendix we show how to groupoidify quantum Schur algebras in the sense of Baez, Hoffnung and Walker.

Abstract:We apply the methods of lattice field theories to the quantization of cellular automata. We discuss the quantization of five main categories of cellular automata: bosonic, fermionic, supersymmetric, spin and quantum dot using path integral and operator formalisms of lattice field theories. We show that the quantization of supersymmetric cellular automata is related to recently discussed string bit models of Thorn and Bergman and represents a link of cellular automata theory to fundamental physics. We discuss spin and quantum dot cellular automata for their importance in experimental realizations and their use in quantum computation. Previous studies of quantum cellular automata utilize the wave function values as cell contents and the discretized linear Dirac equation as an update equation. We show that our approach to the quantization of fermionic cellular automata includes this utilization as a field equation, and in addition allows for nonlinearity through lattice field interactions.

Abstract:We are interested in cell properties of translations in affine Weyl groups. We find out some translations in the second lowest two-sided cell of an affine Weyl group and use the translations to formulate a refinement of Jianyi Shi's conjecture on the number of left cells in the second lowest two-sided cell. We verify the refinement for an affine Weyl group of type A˜n−1 or type G˜2.

Abstract:We will construct the Lusztig form for the quantum loop algebra of $\mathfrak{gl}_n$ by proving the conjecture \cite[3.8.6]{DDF} and establish partially the Schur--Weyl duality at the integral level in this case. We will also investigate the integral form of the modified quantum affine $\mathfrak{gl}_n$ by introducing an affine stabilisation property and will lift the canonical bases from affine quantum Schur algebras to a canonical basis for this integral form. As an application of our theory, we will also discuss the integral form of the modified extended quantum affine $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ and construct its canonical basis to verify a conjecture of Lusztig in this case.

Abstract:We present a generalization the G. Letzter's theory of quantum symmetric pairs of semisimple Lie algebras for the case of quantum affine algebras. We then study solutions of the reflection equation for the quantum affine algebras sl(2) and gl(1|1) and their Yangian limit for singlet (diagonal) and vector (non-diagonal) boundary conditions. We construct the corresponding quantum affine coideal subalgebras that are based on the quantum symmetric pairs, and the (generalized) twisted Yangians.

Abstract:CGL extensions, named after G. Cauchon, K. Goodearl, and E. Letzter, are a special class of noncommutative algebras that are iterated Ore extensions of associative algebras with compatible torus actions. Examples of CGL extensions include quantum Schubert cells and quantized coordinate rings of double Bruhat cells. CGL extensions have been studied extensively in connection with quantum groups and quantum cluster algebras. For a field $\mathbf{k}$ of characteristic $0$, let $L=\mathbf{k}[q^{\pm 1}]$ be the $\mathbf{k}$-algebra of Laurent polynomials in the single variable $q$ and let $\mathbb{K}=\mathbf{k}(q)$ be the fraction field of $L$. We introduce quantum-CGL extensions as certain $L$-forms of CGL extensions over $\mathbb{K}$, which have Poisson-CGL extensions as their semiclassical limits. Poisson-CGL extensions, recently introduced and systematically studied by K. Goodearl and M. Yakimov, are certain Poisson polynomial algebras which admit presentations as iterated Poisson-Ore extensions with compatible torus actions. Examples of Poisson-CGL extensions include the coordinate rings of matrix affine Poisson spaces and more generally those of Schubert cells. We describe an explicit procedure for constructing a symmetric quantum-CGL extension from a symmetric integral Poisson-CGL extension and establish the uniqueness of such a quantization in a proper sense.

Abstract:We use the Hecke algebras of affine symmetric groups and their associated Schur algebras to construct a new algebra through a basis, and a set of generators and explicit multiplication formulas of basis elements by generators. We prove that this algebra is isomorphic to the quantum enveloping algebra of the loop algebra of $\mathfrak {gl}_n$. Though this construction is motivated by the work \cite{BLM} by Beilinson--Lusztig--MacPherson for quantum $\frak{gl}_n$, our approach is purely algebraic and combinatorial, independent of the geometric method which seems to work only for quantum $\mathfrak{gl}_n$ and quantum affine $\mathfrak{sl}_n$. As an application, we discover a presentation of the Ringel--Hall algebra of a cyclic quiver by semisimple generators and their multiplications by the defining basis elements.

Abstract:A Coxeter group is said to be \emph{$\mathbf{a}(2)$-finite} if it has finitely many elements of $\mathbf{a}$-value 2 in the sense of Lusztig. In this paper, we give explicit combinatorial descriptions of the left, right, and two-sided Kazhdan--Lusztig cells of $\mathbf{a}$-value 2 in an irreducible $\mathbf{a}(2)$-finite Coxeter group. In particular, we introduce elements we call \emph{stubs} to parameterize the one-sided cells and we characterize the one-sided cells via both star operations and weak Bruhat orders. We also compute the cardinalities of all the one-sided and two-sided cells.

Abstract:We provide an explicit connection between the quantum group Uq(sl(3)) in the limit q → −1 and a Z2×Z2-graded Lie colour algebra. This is realised through an algebra embedding assisted by a Klein operator. This provides a proof of concept of an explicit method that could lead to constructing more general Z2×Z2-graded Lie colour algebras, and their representations.

Abstract:Conformal Quantum Field Theories (CFT) in 1 or 1+1 spacetime dimensions (respectively called chiral and full CFTs) admit several "axiomatic" (mathematically rigorous and model-independent) formulations. In this note, we deal with the von Neumann algebraic formulation due to Haag and Kastler, mainly restricted to the chiral CFT setting. Irrespectively of the chosen formulation, one can ask the questions: given a theory $\mathcal{A}$, how many and which are the possible extensions $\mathcal{B} \supset \mathcal{A}$ or subtheories $\mathcal{B} \subset \mathcal{A}$? How to construct and classify them, and study their properties? Extensions are typically described in the language of algebra objects in the braided tensor category of representations of $\mathcal{A}$, while subtheories require different ideas. In this paper, we review recent structural results on the study of subtheories in the von Neumann algebraic formulation (conformal subnets) of a given chiral CFT (conformal net). Furthermore, building on [BDG23], we provide a "quantum Galois theory" for conformal nets analogous to the one for Vertex Operator Algebras (VOA). We also outline the case of 3+1 dimensional Algebraic Quantum Field Theories (AQFT). The aforementioned results make use of families of (extreme) vacuum state preserving unital completely positive maps acting on the net of von Neumann algebras, hereafter called quantum operations. These are natural generalizations of the ordinary vacuum preserving gauge automorphisms, hence they play the role of "generalized global gauge symmetries". Quantum operations suffice to describe all possible conformal subnets of a given conformal net with the same central charge.

Abstract:We show that Lusztig's theories of two-sided cells and non-unipotent representations of a reductive group over a finite field are compatible with the V. Lafforgue's automorphic-to-galois direction of the Langlands correspondence. To do this, we extend cases where nearby cycles commutes with pushforward from sheaves on the moduli space of shtukas to a product of curves to include certain depth $0$ cases. More generally, we introduce the notion of $\Psi$-factorizability to study nearby cycles over general bases, whereby a sheaf is $\Psi$-factorizable if its nearby cycles are the same as iterated nearby cycles with respect to arbitrary compositions of specializations on the base. The Satake sheaves on Beilinson-Drinfeld grassmannians and their cohomology sheaves on curves are nontrivial examples of $\Psi$-factorizable sheaves. This notion allows us to adapt arguments from Xue. As an application, for certain automorphic forms in depth zero attached to a Langlands parameter, we characterize the image of the tame generator of this parameter in terms of semisimple orbits and two-sided cells attached to representations, extending ideas of Lusztig-Yun and Bezrukavnikov-Finkelberg-Ostrik.

Abstract:We give an upper bound on character sums of the resultant over pairs of monic square-free polynomials of given degrees, answering a question of Ellenberg and Shusterman in the quadratic case. Our approach is topological: we compute the homology of braid groups on multi-punctured planes and prove a vanishing range for the homology of mixed braid groups with rank-1 local coefficients associated to characters of finite fields. Our method involves constructing a cellular stratification for configuration spaces of multi-punctured planes and relating their twisted homology with more general exponential coefficients to the cohomology of certain bimodules over quantum shuffle algebras.
