Minority college students' sense of school belonging and collective self - esteem: the mediation effect of peer relationships

Abstract:To explore the relationship between sense of school belonging,peer relationships and collective self esteem,640 minority college students were asked to conduct a questionnaire survey.Based on correlation analysis and structure equation models,the results showed that: There are significant differences of minority college students' collective self-esteem among in gender,whether as a class cadre and whether or not to participate in the community;Minority college students' sense of school belonging was positively associated with their peer relationships and collective self-esteem,and peer relationships was also positively associated with collective self esteem;Sense of school belonging not only has a direct positive effect on collective self-esteem,but also has an indirect effect through peer relationships;The peer relationships play a partial mediation effect in the relationship between sense of school belonging and collective self-esteem.
