Abstract:In this paper, we first establish an $L^2$-type Dolbeault isomorphism for logarithmic differential forms by Hormanderu0027s $L^2$-estimates. By using this isomorphism and the construction of smooth Hermitian metrics, we obtain a number of new vanishing theorems for sheaves of logarithmic differential forms on compact Kahler manifolds with simple normal crossing divisors, which generalize several classical vanishing theorems, including Norimatsuu0027s vanishing theorem, Gibrauu0027s vanishing theorem, Le Potieru0027s vanishing theorem and a version of the Kawamata-Viehweg vanishing theorem.

Abstract:We give an alternate proof of the main theorem of Kawamata's paper: Pluricanonical systems on minimal algebraic varieties. Our proof also works for varieties in class $\mathcal C$. We note that our proof is completely different from Kawamata's.

Abstract:Let $(X,B)$ be a log Calabi--Yau pair of dimension $n$, index one, and birational complexity $c$. We show that $(X,B)$ has a crepant birational model that admits a tower of Mori fiber spaces of which at least $n-c$ are conic fibrations. Motivated by the proof of the previous statement, we introduce new measures of the complexity of a log Calabi--Yau pair; the alteration complexity and the conic complexity. We characterize when these invariants are zero. Finally, we give applications of the tools of the main theorem to birational superrigidity, Fano hypersurfaces, dual complexes, Weil indices of Fano varieties, and klt singularities.

On the Canonical Bundle Formula and Adjunction for Generalized Kaehler Pairs

Abstract:In this article we prove analogs of Kawamata's canonical bundle formula, Kawamata subadjunction and plt/lc inversion of adjunction for generalized pairs on Kaehler varieties. We also show that a conjecture of BDPPin dimension n-1 implies that the cone theorem holds for any n-dimensional Kaehler generalized klt pair. Along the way, we obtain more complete versions of some results due to Collins-Tosatti and Cao-Hoering.

Abstract:In this addendum, we give a differential form interpretation of the proof of the main theorem of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1812.02448" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1812.02448">arXiv:1812.02448</a>, which gives lower bounds of the dimensions of $\pi_k(B\mathrm{Diff}(D^4,\partial))\otimes\mathbb{Q}$ in terms of the dimensions of Kontsevich's graph homology, and explain why it can be extended to arbitrary even dimensions $d\geq 4$. We attempted to make the proof accessible to more readers. Thus we do not assume familiarity with configuration space integrals nor knowledge of finite type invariants. Part of this addendum might be joined to the original article when it will be re-submitted to the journal. This is not aimed at giving a correction to the previous version.

An $(\infty,n)$-categorical pasting theorem

Abstract:We identify a reasonably large class of pushouts of strict $n$-categories which are preserved by the "inclusion" functor from strict $n$-categories to weak $(\infty,n)$-categories. These include the pushouts used to assemble from its generating cells any object of Joyal's category $\Theta$, any of Street's orientals, any lax Gray cube, and more generally any "regular directed CW complex." More precisely, the theorem applies to any \emph{torsion-free complex} in the sense of Forest -- a corrected version of Street's \emph{parity complexes}. This result may be regarded as partial progress toward Henry's conjecture that the pushouts assembling any non-unital computad are similarly preserved by the "inclusion" into weak $(\infty,n)$-categories. In future work we shall apply this result to give new models of $(\infty,n)$-categories as presheaves on torsion-free complexes, and to construct the Gray tensor product of weak $(\infty,n)$-categories. This result is deduced from an \emph{$(\infty,n)$-categorical pasting theorem}, in the spirit of Power's 2-categorical and $n$-categorical pasting theorems, and the $(\infty,2)$-categorical pasting theorems of Columbus and of Hackney, Ozornova, Riehl, and Rovelli. This says that, when assembling a "pasting diagram" from its generating cells, the space of "composite cells which can be pasted together from all of the generators" is contractible.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a theorem that proves a condition when an inclusion morphism between simplicial sets becomes a weak homotopy equivalence. Additionally, we present two applications of this result. The first application demonstrates that cofinal full inclusion functors of (\infty)-categories are weak homotopy equivalences. For our second application, we provide an alternative proof of Barwick's cofinality theorem of algebraic (K)-theory.

Cokernels of the Euler restriction map of logarithmic derivation modules

Abstract:There are two restriction maps of the logarithmic modules of plane arrangements in a three dimensional vector space. One is the Euler restriction and the other is the Ziegler restriction. The dimension of the cokernel of the Ziegler restriction map of logarithmic derivation modules has been well-studied for the freeness of hyperplane arrangements after Yoshinaga's celebrated criterion for freeness, which connects the second Betti number and the splitting type (exponents). However, though the Euler restriction has a longer history than the Ziegler restriction, the cokernel and its dimension of the Euler restriction have not been studied at all. The aim of this article is to study the cokernel and dimension of the Euler restriction maps in terms of combinatorics, more explicitly, the characteristic polynomial. We give an upper bound of that cokernel, and show the formula for that if the arrangement is free.

On the subadditivity of generalized Kodaira dimensions

Abstract:The goals of this paper are of two aspects. Firstly, we introduce the notion of generalized numerical Kodaira dimension with multiplier ideal sheaf and establish the subadditivity inequalities in terms of this notion, which can be used to give an analytic proof of O. Fujino's result on the subadditivity of the log Kodaira dimensions. Secondly, motivated by Zhou-Zhu's subadditivity of generalized Kodaira dimensions, we adopt another definition of generalized Kodaira dimension with multiplier ideal sheaf and show they are equal by using Okounkov bodies. As one application, we show that the superadditivity part in Zhou-Zhu's setting also holds true. As another application, we give an alternative proof of Zhou-Zhu's subadditivity formula, in the case when the singular metric $h_L$ has analytic singularities, by using generalized Iitaka fibrations.

Abstract:A Lie algebroid is a generalization of Lie algebra that provides a general framework to describe the symmetries of a manifold. In this paper, we generalize the Kodaira vanishing theorem, which is a basic result in complex geometry, to Kahler Lie algebroids. The generalization of the Kodaira vanishing theorem states that the kernel of the Lie algebroid Laplace operator on Lie algebroid positive line bundle-valued (p,q)-forms vanishes when p+q is sufficiently large. The most difficult part of the proof of the generalized Kodaira vanishing theorem is the generalization of the Kahler identities to Lie algebroids. In this paper, we provide an approach by using local coordinate calculation.

Abstract:Journal of Knot Theory and Its Ramifications, Volume 33, Issue 08, July 2024. In this paper, we introduce two monoidal supercategories: the odd dotted Temperley–Lieb category [math], which is a generalization of the odd Temperley–Lieb category studied by Brundan and Ellis in [Monoidal Supercategories, Commun. Math. Phys. 351 (2017) 1045–1089], and the odd annular Bar-Natan category [math], which generalizes the odd Bar-Natan category studied by Putyra in [A [math]-category of chronological cobordisms and odd Khovanov homology, Banach Center Publ. 103 (2014) 291–355]. We then show there is an equivalence of categories between them if [math]. We use this equivalence to better understand the action of the Lie superalgebra [math] on the odd Khovanov homology of a knot in a thickened annulus found by Grigsby and the second author in [An action of [math] on odd annular Khovanov homology, Math. Res. Lett. 27(3) (2020) 711–742].

Abstract:We compute the equivariant K-theoretic Donaldson--Thomas invariants of $[\mathbb{C}^2/\mu_r]\times \mathbb{C}$ using factorization and rigidity techniques. For this, we develop a generalization of Okounkov's factorization technique that applies to Hilbert schemes of points on orbifolds. We show that the (twisted) virtual structure sheaves of Hilbert schemes of points on orbifolds satisfy the desired factorization property. We prove that the generating series of Euler characteristics of such factorizable systems are the plethystic exponential of a simpler generating series. For $[\mathbb{C}^2/\mu_r]\times \mathbb{C}$, the computation is then completed by a rigidity argument, involving an equivariant modification of Young's combinatorial computation of the corresponding numerical Donaldson-Thomas invariants.

Hyperplane Arrangements Satisfy (un)Twisted Logarithmic Comparison Theorems, Applications to $\mathscr{D}_{X}$-modules

Abstract:For a reduced hyperplane arrangement we prove the analytic Twisted Logarithmic Comparison Theorem, subject to mild combinatorial arithmetic conditions on the weights defining the twist. This gives a quasi-isomorphism between the twisted logarithmic de Rham complex and the twisted meromorphic de Rham complex. The latter computes the cohomology of the arrangement's complement with coefficients from the corresponding rank one local system. We also prove the algebraic variant (when the arrangement is central), and the analytic and algebraic (untwisted) Logarithmic Comparison Theorems. The last item positively resolves an old conjecture of Terao. We also prove that: every nontrivial rank one local system on the complement can be computed via these Twisted Logarithmic Comparison Theorems; these computations are explicit finite dimensional linear algebra. Finally, we give some $\mathscr{D}_{X}$-module applications: for example, we give a sharp restriction on the codimension one components of the multivariate Bernstein--Sato ideal attached to an arbitrary factorization of an arrangement. The bound corresponds to (and, in the univariate case, gives an independent proof of) M. Saito's result that the roots of the Bernstein--Sato polynomial of a non-smooth, central, reduced arrangement live in $(-2 + 1/d, 0).$

Abstract:We are concerned with the center (=quantum double) of tensor categories and prove generalizations of several results proven previously for quantum doubles of Hopf algebras. We consider F-linear tensor categories C with simple unit and finitely many isomorphism classes of simple objects. We assume that C is either a *-category (i.e. there is a positive *-operation on the morphisms) or semisimple and spherical over an algebraically closed field F. In the latter case we assume that dim C=sum_i d(X_i)^2 is non-zero, where the summation runs over the isomorphism classes of simple objects. We prove: (i) Z(C) is a semisimple spherical (or *-) category. (ii) Z(C) is weakly monoidally Morita equivalent (in the sense of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="math.CT/0111204" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/math.CT/0111204">math.CT/0111204</a>) to C X C^op. This implies dim Z(C)=(dim C)^2. (iii) We analyze the simple objects of Z(C) in terms of certain finite dimensional algebras, of which Ocneanu's tube algebra is the smallest. We prove the conjecture of Gelfand and Kazhdan according to which the number of simple objects of Z(C) coincides with the dimension of the state space H_{S^1\times S^1} of the torus in the triangulation TQFT built from C. (iv) We prove that Z(C) is modular and we compute the Gauss sums Delta_+/-(Z(C))=sum_i theta(X_i)^{+/- 1}d(X_i)^2=dim C. (v) Finally, if C is already modular then Z(C)\simeq C X C~, where C~ is the tensor category C with the braiding c~_{X,Y}=c_{Y,X}^{-1}.

Abstract:In this article, we study how the absolute coregularity of a projective log pair reflects on its fundamental group. More precisely, we conjecture that for a projective klt log pair $(X,D)$ of absolute coregularity $c$ (and arbitrary dimension) the fundamental group $\pi_1^{\rm reg}(X,D)$ admits a normal abelian subgroup of finite index and rank at most $2c$. We prove this conjecture in the cases $0 \leq c \leq 3$, building on the almost abelianity of the fundamental groups of klt Calabi-Yau pairs of dimension $\leq 3$. In the cases $c \in \{0,1,2\}$ and fixed dimension, we can furthermore bound the index of a solvable normal subgroup. In dimension three, we are able to prove almost abelianity of the fundamental group of the regular locus for projective klt Calabi-Yau pairs.

Birational complexity of log Calabi-Yau 3-folds

Abstract:We study the birational complexity of log Calabi-Yau $3$-folds. For such a pair $(X,B)$ of index one and coregularity zero, we show that $c_{\rm bir}(X,B)\in \{0,2,3\}$. Further, we prove that $(X,B)$ has a log Calabi-Yau crepant birational model that admits a crepant contraction to $(\mathbb{P}^{3-c},H_0+\dots+H_{3-c})$, where $c=c_{\rm bir}(X,B)$. To prove this, we give a geometric characterization of standard $\mathbb{P}^1$-links.

Abstract:Let $(X,\gamma)$ be a compact, irreducible Hermitian complex space of complex dimension $m$ and with $\mathrm{dim}(\mathrm{sing}(X))=0$. Let $(F,\tau)\rightarrow X$ be a Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle over $X$ and let us denote with $\overlineð_{F,m,\mathrm{abs}}$ the rolled-up operator of the maximal $L^2$-$\overline{\partial}$ complex of $F$-valued $(m,\bullet)$-forms. Let $\pi:M\rightarrow X$ be a resolution of singularities, $g$ a metric on $M$, $E:=\pi^*F$ and $\rho:=\pi^*\tau$. In this paper, under quite general assumptions on $\tau$, we prove the following equality of analytic $K$-homology classes $[\overlineð_{F,m,\mathrm{abs}}]=\pi_*[\overlineð_{E,m}]$, with $\overlineð_{E,m}$ the rolled-up operator of the $L^2$-$\overline{\partial}$ complex of $E$-valued $(m,\bullet)$-forms on $M$. Our proof is based on functional analytic techniques developed in \cite{KuSh} and provides an explicit homotopy between the even unbounded Fredholm modules induced by $\overlineð_{F,m,\mathrm{abs}}$ and $\overlineð_{E,m}$.

Abstract:We associate to a full flag $\mathcal{F}$ in an $n$-dimensional variety $X$ over a field $k$, a "symbol map" $\mu_{\mathcal{F}}:K(F_X) \to \Sigma^n K(k)$. Here, $F_X$ is the field of rational functions on $X$, and $K(\cdot)$ is the $K$-theory spectrum. We prove a "reciprocity law" for these symbols: Given a partial flag, the sum of all symbols of full flags refining it is $0$. Examining this result on the level of $K$-groups, we re-obtain various "reciprocity laws". Namely, when $X$ is a smooth complete curve, we obtain degree of a principal divisor is zero, Weil reciprocity, Residue theorem, Contou-Carrère reciprocity. When $X$ is higher-dimensional, we obtain Parshin reciprocity.
