Abstract:We give formulas for the Dolbeault numbers of \Mbar_{3,1}, using the first author's calculations of the weights of the cohomology of M_{2,2} and M_{2,3} and the second author's calculation of the weights of the cohomology of M_{3,1}.

Abstract:We derive some Hodge integral identities by taking various limits of the Mariño-Vafa formula using the cut-and-join equation. These identities include the formula of generalλg\lambda _g-integrals, the formula ofλg−1\lambda _{g-1}-integrals onM¯g,1{\overline {\mathcal {M}}}_{g,1}, the formula of cubicλ\lambdaintegrals onM¯g{\overline {\mathcal {M}}}_g, and the ELSV formula relating Hurwitz numbers and Hodge integrals. In particular, our proof of the MV formula by the cut-and-join equation leads to a new and simple proof of theλg\lambda _gconjecture. We also present a proof of the ELSV formula completely parallel to our proof of the Mariño-Vafa formula.

Abstract:In this note we derive some consequences from the Mari\~no-Vafa formula and the cut-and-join equation, these include unified simple proofs of the $\lambda_g$ conjecture and some other Hodge integral identities. We also describe a proof of the ELSV formula relating Hurwitz numbers and Hodge integrals by using the cut-and-join equation, following our proof of the Mari\~no-Vafa formula.

Abstract:Let $\bar{\mathcal{M}}_{g, m|n}$ denote Hassett's moduli space of weighted pointed stable curves of genus $g$ for the heavy/light weight data $\left(1^{(m)}, 1/n^{(n)}\right)$, and let $\mathcal{M}_{g, m|n} \subset \bar{\mathcal{M}}_{g, m|n}$ be the locus parameterizing smooth, not necessarily distinctly marked curves. We give a change-of-variables formula which computes the generating function for $(S_m\times S_n)$-equivariant Hodge-Deligne polynomials of these spaces in terms of the generating functions for $S_{n}$-equivariant Hodge-Deligne polynomials of $\bar{\mathcal{M}}_{g,n}$ and $\mathcal{M}_{g,n}$.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a complex reductive group, $\theta \colon G \to G$ an involution, and $K = G^\theta$. In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1206.5547" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1206.5547">arXiv:1206.5547</a>, W. Schmid and the second named author proposed a program to study unitary representations of the corresponding real form $G_\mathbb{R}$ using $K$-equivariant twisted mixed Hodge modules on the flag variety of $G$ and their polarizations. In this paper, we make the first significant steps towards implementing this program. Our first main result gives an explicit combinatorial formula for the Hodge numbers appearing in the composition series of a standard module in terms of the Lusztig-Vogan polynomials. Our second main result is a polarized version of the Jantzen conjecture, stating that the Jantzen forms on the composition factors are polarizations of the underlying Hodge modules. Our third main result states that, for regular Beilinson-Bernstein data, the minimal $K$-type of an irreducible Harish-Chandra module lies in the lowest piece of the Hodge filtration of the corresponding Hodge module. An immediate consequence of our results is a Hodge-theoretic proof of the signature multiplicity formula of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1212.2192" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1212.2192">arXiv:1212.2192</a>, which was the inspiration for this work.

Abstract:We prove that $\mathrm{SO}(3)$ modular functors in genus $0$ have geometric origin and support integral variations of Hodge structures for any odd level $r$ and $r$-th root of unity $\zeta_r\in\mathbb{C}$. We identify the TQFT intersection forms and integral structures with the geometric ones. Moreover, the gluing property of the modular functors is recovered geometrically as a K\"unneth formula. The construction is based on the homological models of Felder-Wieczerkowski and Martel.

Abstract:In this paper we study the derivatives of Frobenius and the derivatives of Hodge weights for families of Galois representations with triangulations. We generalize the Fontaine-Mazur L-invariant and use it to build a formula which is a generalization of the Greenberg-Stevens-Colmez formula. For the purpose of proving this formula we show two auxiliary results called projection vanishing property and "projection vanishing implying L-invariants" property.

Abstract:In this article there are two main results. The first result gives a formula, in terms of a log resolution, for the graded pieces of the Hodge filtration on the cohomology of a unitary local system of rank one on the complement of an arbitrary divisor in a smooth projective complex variety. The second result is an application of the first. We give a combinatorial formula for the spectrum of a hyperplane arrangement. M. Saito recently proved that the spectrum of a hyperplane arrangement depends only on combinatorics. However, a combinatorial formula was missing. The formula is achieved by a different method.

On the Cohomology of Moduli of Vector Bundles

Abstract:We compute some Hodge and Betti numbers of the moduli space of stable rank $r$ degree $d$ vector bundles on a smooth projective curve. We do not assume $r$ and $d$ are coprime. In the process we equip the cohomology of an arbitrary algebraic stack with a functorial mixed Hodge structure. This Hodge structure is computed in the case of the moduli stack of rank $r$, degree $d$ vector bundles on a curve. Our methods also yield a formula for the Poincare polynomial of the moduli stack that is valid over any ground field.

Explicit formulas for the Grothendieck class of $\overline{\mathcal M}_{0,n}$

Abstract:We obtain explicit expressions for the class in the Grothendieck group of varieties of the moduli space of genus 0 stable curves with n marked points. This information is equivalent to the Poincaré polynomial; it implies explicit expressions for the Betti numbers of the moduli space in terms of Stirling numbers or, alternatively, Bernoulli numbers. The expressions are obtained by solving a differential equation characterizing the generating function for the Grothendieck class as shown in work of Yuri Manin from the 1990s. This differential equation is equivalent to S. Keel's recursion for the Betti numbers of these moduli spaces. Our proof reduces the solution to two combinatorial identities which follow from applications of Lagrange series. We also study generating functions for the individual Betti numbers. In previous work it had been shown that these functions are determined by a set of polynomials with positive rational coefficients, which are conjecturally log-concave. We verify this conjecture for many infinite families of these polynomials, corresponding to the generating functions for the $2k$-Betti numbers of the moduli spaces for all $k\le 100$. Further, studying these polynomials allows us to prove that the generating function for the Grothendieck class of the moduli spaces may be written as a series of rational functions in the Lefschetz motive and the principal branch of the Lambert W-function. We include an interpretation of the main result in terms of Stirling matrices and a discussion of the Euler characteristic of the moduli space.

Weighted Ehrhart theory via mixed Hodge modules on toric varieties

Abstract:We give a cohomological and geometrical interpretation for the weighted Ehrhart theory of a full-dimensional lattice polytope $P$, with Laurent polynomial weights of geometric origin. For this purpose, we calculate the motivic Chern and Hirzebruch characteristic classes of a mixed Hodge module complex $\mathcal{M}$ whose underlying cohomology sheaves are constant on the $\mathbb{T}$-orbits of the toric variety $X_P$ associated to $P$. Besides motivic coefficients, this also applies to the intersection cohomology Hodge module. We introduce a corresponding generalized Hodge $\chi_y$-polynomial of the ample divisor $D_P$ on $X_P$. Motivic properties of these characteristic classes are used to express this Hodge polynomial in terms of a very general weighed lattice point counting and the corresponding weighted Ehrhart theory. We introduce, for such a mixed Hodge modules complex $\mathcal{M}$ on $X$, an Ehrhart polynomial $E_{P,\mathcal{M}}$ generalizing the Hodge polynomial of $\mathcal{M}$ and satisfying a reciprocity formula and a purity formula fitting with the duality for mixed Hodge modules. This Ehrhart polynomial and its properties depend only on a Laurent polynomial weight function on the faces $Q$ of $P$. In the special case of the intersection cohomology mixed Hodge module, the weight function corresponds to Stanley's $g$-function of the polar polytope of $P$, hence it depends only on the combinatorics of $P$. In particular, we obtain a combinatorial formula for the intersection cohomology signature.

Abstract:In this paper we study mixed Hodge structures on the cohomology of locally symmetric varieties and give an application to modular forms. After proving vanishing of some Hodge numbers, we focus on the weight filtration on the last Hodge subspace of the middle degree cohomology. We prove that the weight filtration coincides with the corank filtration on the space of modular forms of canonical weight defined by the Siegel operators, and calculate the graded quotients. As an application, we deduce surjectivity of the total Siegel operators in many cases, and identify an obstruction space in the remaining case.

Abstract:We introduce the intersection cohomology module of a matroid and prove that it satisfies Poincar\'e duality, the hard Lefschetz theorem, and the Hodge-Riemann relations. As applications, we obtain proofs of Dowling and Wilson's Top-Heavy conjecture and the nonnegativity of the coefficients of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for all matroids.

Abstract:The Dirac-Dolbeault operator for a compact Kähler manifold is a special case of Dirac operator. The Green function for the Dirac Laplacian over a Riemannian manifold with boundary allows the expression of the values of the sections of the Dirac bundle in terms of the values on the boundary, extending the mean value theorem of harmonic analysis. Utilizing this representation and the Nash–Moser generalized inverse function theorem, we prove the existence of complex submanifolds of a complex projective manifold satisfying globally a certain partial differential equation under a certain injectivity assumption. Thereby, internal symmetries of Dolbeault and rational Hodge cohomologies play a crucial role. Next, we show the existence of complex submanifolds whose fundamental classes span the rational Hodge classes, proving the Hodge conjecture for complex projective manifolds.

Semiclassical Hodge theory for log Poisson manifolds

Abstract:We construct a mixed Hodge structure on the topological K-theory of smooth Poisson varieties, depending weakly on a choice of compactification. We establish a package of tools for calculations with these structures, such as functoriality statements, projective bundle formulae, Gysin sequences and Torelli properties. We show that for varieties with trivial A-hat class, the corresponding period maps for families can be written as exponential maps for bundles of tori, which we call the "quantum parameters". As justification for the terminology, we show that in many interesting examples, the quantum parameters of a Poisson variety coincide with the parameters appearing in its known deformation quantizations. In particular, we give a detailed implementation of an argument of Kontsevich, to prove that his canonical quantization formula, when applied to Poisson tori, yields noncommutative tori with parameter "$q = e^\hbar$".

Abstract:We provide an explicit computation over the integers of the bar version $\overline{HM}_*$ of the monopole Floer homology of a three-manifold in terms of a new invariant associated to its triple cup product called extended cup homology. This refines previous computations over fields of characteristic zero by Kronheimer and Mrowka, who established a relationship to Atiyah and Segal's twisted de Rham cohomology, and characteristic two by Lidman using surgery techniques in Heegaard Floer theory. In order to do so, we first develop a general framework to study the homotopical properties of the cohomology of a dga twisted with respect a particular kind of Maurer-Cartan element called twisting sequence. Then, for dgas equipped with the additional structure of a Hirsch algebra (which consists of certain higher operations that measure the failure of strict commutativity, and related associativity properties), we develop a product on twisting sequences and a theory of rational characteristic classes. These are inspired by Kraines' classical construction of higher Massey products and may be of independent interest. We then compute the most important infinite family of such higher operations explicitly for the minimal cubical realization of the torus. Building on the work of Kronheimer and Mrowka, the determination of $\overline{HM}_*$ follows from these computations and certain functoriality properties of the rational characteristic classes.
