Abstract:In a recent paper, "Non-local Nucleon Matrix Elements in the Rest Frame" (arXiv: <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2407.16577" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2407.16577">2407.16577</a>), it was demonstrated that the next-to-leading order perturbative theory can describe, to a few percent accuracy, the lattice QCD static nucleon matrix elements of spatial correlators with separations up to 0.6~fm. We argue that perturbative QCD breaks down at such a distance scale after resumming the associated large logarithms, while the ansatz used in the analysis there did not account for resummation or the leading renormalon, both of which significantly affect the convergence of perturbation theory. Besides, we provide an explanation why the ansatz appears to describe the lattice data despite the breakdown of perturbation theory at large distances.

Abstract:Thermodynamic functions, the (higher-order) fluctuations and correlations of conserved charges at μB=0 , and the Fourier coefficients of net-baryon density at imaginary μB , are considered in the framework of a Hagedorn bag-like model with a crossover transition. The qualitative behavior of these observables is found to be compatible with lattice QCD results. Fair quantitative description of the lattice data is obtained when quasiparticle-type quarks and gluons with nonzero masses are introduced into the bag spectrum. The equation of state of the model exhibits a smooth and wide crossover transition. Abstract:I comment on a paper by Christoph Hanhart and Alexey Nefediev, published in Phys. Rev. D 106, 114003 (2022). The authors discuss the interpretation of mesons close to their lowest decay threshold and present a mechanism for the formation of molecular states. The proposed formalism is then applied to the axial-vector mesons $D_{s1}(2536)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$, presenting two scenarios for the lighter meson, namely a $D^\star K$ molecule or a compact $c\bar{s}$ state. The authors argue that the latter hypothesis requires a fine-tuning of the mixing angle between the $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ and $J^{PC}=1^{+-}$ $C$-parity eigenstates.

Abstract:We discuss various aspects of models with long-lived or stable colored particles. In particular we focus on an ideal Quirk model with electroweak neutral heavy (O(TeV)) particles which carry ordinary color and another $ SU'(3)$ color with a very low scale $\Lambda'$. We show that contrary to what one might think, such a model is cosmologically consistent and evades many "Pitfalls" even for very low O(10 eV) $\Lambda'$ and without assuming a low reheat temperature. We also show that the expected production of Quirks by cosmic rays which are incorporated in heavy Isotopes in Ocean water is consistent with the highly stringent bounds on the latter. This evades a real threat to the Quirk model which would have excluded it regardless of Cosmology. Finally we briefly comment on possible LHC signatures.

Abstract:In tackling QCD, a constructive feedback between theory and extant and forthcoming experiments is necessary in order to place constraints on the infrared behaviour of QCD’s β-function, a key nonperturbative quantity in hadron physics. The Dyson–Schwinger equations provide a tool with which to work toward this goal. They connect confinement with dynamical chiral symmetry breaking, both with the observable properties of hadrons, and hence can plausibly provide a means of elucidating the material content of real-world QCD. This contribution illustrates these points via comments on: in-hadron condensates; dressed-quark anomalous chromo- and electro-magnetic moments; the spectra of mesons and baryons, and the critical role played by hadron-hadron interactions in producing these spectra.
A variational study of some hadron bag models

Abstract:Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) is the theory of strong interaction and accounts for the internal structure of hadrons. Physicists introduced phe- nomenological models such as the M.I.T. bag model, the bag approximation and the soliton bag model to study the hadronic properties. We prove, in this paper, the existence of excited state solutions in the symmetric case and of a ground state solution in the non-symmetric case for the soliton bag and the bag approximation models thanks to the concentration compactness method. We show that the energy functionals of the bag approximation model are Gamma -limits of sequences of soliton bag model energy functionals for the ground and excited state problems. The pre- compactness, up to translation, of the sequence of ground state solutions associated with the soliton bag energy functionals in the non-symmetric case is obtained combining the Gamma -convergence theory and the concentration-compactness method. Finally, we give a rigorous proof of the original derivation of the M.I.T. bag equations done by Chodos, Jaffe, Johnson, Thorn and Weisskopf via a limit of bag approximation ground state solutions in the spherical case. The supersymmetry property of the Dirac operator is the key point in many of our arguments.

Abstract:We analyze the results obtained from a model consisting of the interaction etween the electric quadrupole moment of a moving particle and an electric field. We argue that the system does not support bound states because the motion along the $z$ axis is unbounded. It is shown that the author obtains a wrong bound-state spectrum for the motion in the $x-y$ plane and that the existence of allowed cyclotron frequencies is an artifact of the approach.

Investigating the impact of extra resonance states in the van der Waals Hadron Resonance Gas Model

Abstract:We investigate, in addition to the experimentally established hadrons, how the inclusion of extra resonance states, through the Hagedorn mass spectrum (HS) or Quark Model (QM) predicated states, affects the thermodynamic and transport quantities of the hadronic system in the van der Waals hadron resonance gas (VDWHRG) model. We found that the VDWHRG model with the HS provides the most accurate description of the lattice QCD results, both at zero and finite chemical potential. Moreover, the inclusion of these extra states has a significant impact on the van der Waals (VDW) parameters, which, in turn, affect the thermodynamic and transport quantities as well as the likely position of the liquid-gas phase transition critical point in the QCD phase diagram. Additionally, we infer that there is a strong correlation between the van der Waals parameters and the chemical potential. Overall, our study sheds light on the importance of considering extra resonance states and proper tuning of the VDW parameters in the VDWHRG model to enhance the accuracy and reliability of the model in the context of Ultra-relativistic heavy-ion physics.

Revisiting light-flavor diquarks in the inverse matrix method of QCD sum rules

Abstract:This study reexamines the spectroscopic parameters of light-flavor diquarks within the framework of quantum chromodynamics sum rules (QCDSR) using the inverse matrix method. Conventional QCDSR analyses are based on assumptions such as quark-hadron duality and continuum models, which introduce a degree of systematic uncertainty. The inverse matrix method circumvents these assumptions by reformulating the problem as an inverse integral equation and expanding the unknown spectral density using orthogonal Laguerre polynomials. This method allows for a direct determination of spectral densities, thereby enhancing the precision of predictions regarding resonance masses and decay constants. By employing this methodology with regard to light-flavor diquarks ($sq$ and $ud$), it is possible to extract the associated masses and decay constants. The results indicate that the masses of diquarks with quantum numbers $J^P = 0^+$ and $J^P = 0^-$ are nearly degenerate. We compare our results regarding masses and decay constants with those of other theoretical predictions, which could prove a useful complementary tool in interpretation. Our results are consistent with those in the literature and can be shown as evidence for the consistency of the method. The results achieved in this study highlight the potential of the inverse matrix method as a robust tool for exploring nonperturbative QCD phenomena and elucidating the internal structure of exotic hadronic systems.

Abstract:The paper defends the notion that semantic tagging should be viewed as more than disambiguation between senses. Instead, semantic tagging should be a first step in the interpretation process by assigning each lexical item a representation of all of its systematically related senses, from which further semantic processing steps can derive discourse dependent interpretations. This leads to a new type of semantic lexicon (CoreLex) that supports underspecified semantic tagging through a design based on systematic polysemous classes and a class-based acquisition of lexical knowledge for specific domains.

Abstract:We present a significant extension of the quark-mass density-dependent model (QMDDM), initially revised in our prior study [ Phys. Rev. D 107 , 043025 (2023)], where thermodynamic inconsistencies were addressed. Our current work enriches the QMDDM by incorporating excluded volume effects, as a step toward a more realistic representation of the quark matter equation of state (EOS) at zero temperature. We introduce the concept of "available volume" in the Helmholtz free energy formulation, accounting for the space excluded by each quasiparticle due to its finite size or repulsive interactions. We present a methodology to modify the EOS for pointlike particles, allowing for a simple and direct incorporation of excluded volume effects. This is first addressed in a simple one-flavor model and then extended to a more realistic three-flavor system, incorporating both mass and volume dependencies on the baryon number density. We examine various Ansätze for the excluded volume, ultimately adopting one that aligns with the asymptotic freedom behavior of quantum chromodynamics. The EOS for electrically neutral systems in chemical equilibrium is computed, focusing on self-bound and hybrid matter scenarios. We show that the incorporation of excluded volume effects renders the EOS stiffer and that excluded volume effects are essential to align the mass-radius relation of self-bound and hybrid stars with modern astrophysical constraints. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.109.063025 © 2024 American Physical Society

Abstract:Properties of QCD at finite imaginary chemical potential are revisited to utilize for the model building of QCD in low energy regimes. For example, the electric holonomy which is closely related to the Polyakov-loop drastically affects thermodynamic quantities beside the Roberge-Weiss transition line. To incorporate several properties at finite imaginary chemical potential, it is important to introduce the holonomy effects to the coupling constant of effective models. This extension is possible by considering the entanglement vertex. We show justifications of the entanglement vertex based on the derivation of the effective four-fermi interaction in the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model and present its general form with the local approximation. To discuss how to remove model ambiguities in the entanglement vertex, we calculate the chiral condensate with different $\mathbb{Z}_3$ sectors and the dual quark condensate.

Abstract:Despite quantum chromodynamics (QCD) being established as the theory of the strong interaction and its many successes since then, significant challenges in our understanding of hadron physics remain. The lack of a full understanding for how the observed hadrons arise from the quark and gluon degrees of freedom which define QCD represents a real challenge in connecting the theory to experiment. In particular, the rich spectrum of hadrons marks a significant gap in our understanding, as no model can currently explain all observed hadrons and QCD itself has only been used to study a small subset of the full spectrum. The significant hurdle for using QCD directly is due to the non-perturbative nature of the theory at low energies, requiring methods like lattice QCD. Here, the spectrum of hadrons and how it relates to few-body dynamics is reviewed, with a focus on state-of-the-art methods for their study through lattice QCD.

Remnants of quark model in lattice QCD simulation in the Coulomb gauge

Abstract:Aiming at the relation between QCD and the quark model, we consider projections of gauge configurations generated in quenched lattice QCD simulations in the Coulomb gauge on a 16$^{\rm 3}$ $\rm \times$ 32, $\rm \beta$ = 6.0 lattice. First, we focus on a fact that the static quark-antiquark potential is independent of spatial gauge fields. We explicitly confirm this by performing $\vec{A}$ = 0 projection, where spatial gauge fields are all set to zero. We also apply the $\vec{A}$ = 0 projection to light hadron masses and find that nucleon and delta baryon masses are almost degenerate, suggesting vanishing of the color-magnetic interactions. After considering the physical meaning of the $\vec{A}$ = 0 projection, we next propose a generalized projection, where spatial gauge fields are expanded in terms of Faddeev-Popov eigenmodes and only some eigenmodes are left. We apply the proposed projection to light hadron and glueball masses and find that the N-$\rm \Delta$ and 0$^{\rm ++}$-2$^{\rm ++}$ mass splittings become evident when projected with more than 33 (0.10 \%) low-lying eigenmodes, suggesting emergence of the color-magnetic interactions. We also find that the original hadron masses are approximately reproduced with just 328 (1.00 \%) low-lying eigenmodes. These findings indicate an important role of low-lying eigenmodes on hadron masses and would be useful in clarifying the relation between QCD and the quark model.

Abstract:The physical model (PhsMdl) of the hadrons is offered by means of the obvious analogy with the transparent surveyed PhsMdls of the vacuum and leptons in our recent works. It is assumed that the vacuum is consistent by dynamides, streamlined in junctions of some tight crystalline lattice. Every dynamide contains a neutral pair of massless contrary point-like (PntLk) elementary electric charges (ElmElc Chrgs): electrino $(-)$ and positrino $(+)$. By means of the existent fundamental analogy between their properties and behaviour we can understand the similarity and difference between them and assume that the quark parameter aroma is determined by the value of its size of its circular two-dimensional motion, while the quark parameter colour is determined by orientation of the flat of the same circular two-dimensional motion in the space. The colorless of the barions is explained by distribution of the same circular two-dimensional motion of its elementary electric charge within three mutually perpendicular flats. Then the exchange of the colors between two quarks with different colors within some hadron can be interpretated as some twisting of same hadron in the space. We give a new obvious physical interpretation of the charge values of quarks, which gives some explanation of angles of Cabibo and Weynberg. By some physical supposition about the structure of charged intermediate vector bozon $W$ and uncharged intermediate vector bozon $Z$ we have possibility to explain as the physical essence of the strong, weak and electromagnetic interactions, so the outline of all births, transformations and decays of the ElmPrts.
Isospin Symmetry Breaking in the Chiral Quark Model

Abstract:We discuss the isospin symmetry breaking (ISB) of the valence-and sea-quark distributions between the proton and the neutron in the framework of the chiral quark model. We assume that isospin symmetry breaking is the result of mass differences between isospin multiplets and then analyze the effects of isospin symmetry breaking on the Gottfried sum rule and the NuTeV anomaly. We show that, although both flavor asymmetry in the nucleon sea and the ISB between the proton and the neutron can lead to the violation of the Gottfried sum rule, the main contribution is from the flavor asymmetry in the framework of the chiral quark model. We also find that the correction to the NuTeV anomaly is in an opposite direction, so the NuTeV anomaly cannot be removed by isospin symmetry breaking in the chiral quark model. It is remarkable that our results of ISB for both valence-and sea-quark distributions are consistent with the Martin-Roberts-Stirling-Thorne parametrization of quark distributions.

Abstract:This short paper is an attempt to describe a theorist's view of the goals of relativistic heavy ion program which has just entered the collider era. These goals are centered around understanding the properties and the critical behavior of Quantum Chromo-Dynamics (QCD) in the non-linear regime of high color field strength and high parton density. Some of the current theoretical challenges are highlighted, and the place of heavy ion research in the broader context of modern particle and nuclear physics is discussed.
