Abstract:A coadjoint nilpotent orbit [inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="01i" /] of a complex semisimple Lie group G is said to be spherical if it contains an open orbit of a Borel subgroup. We determine when and how to attach unitary representations to such an orbit for the real orthogonal and symplectic groups. Our results actually extend to a larger class of nilpotent coadjoint orbits.

Abstract:In [1], the second de Rham cohomology groups of nilpotent orbits in all the complex simple Lie algebras are described. In this paper we consider non-compact non-complex exceptional Lie algebras, and compute the dimensions of the second cohomology groups for most of the nilpotent orbits. For the rest of cases of nilpotent orbits, which are not covered in the above computations, we obtain upper bounds for the dimensions of the second cohomology groups.
Mirror Symmetry for Special Nilpotent Orbit Closures

Abstract:Motivated by geometric Langlands, we initiate a program to study the mirror symmetry between nilpotent orbit closures of a semisimple Lie algebra and those of its Langlands dual. The most interesting case is $B_n$ via $C_n$. Classically, there is a famous Springer duality between special orbits. Therefore, it is natural to speculate that the mirror symmetry we seek may coincide with Springer duality in the context of special orbits. Unfortunately, such a naive statement fails. To remedy the situation, we propose a conjecture which asserts the mirror symmetry for certain parabolic/induced covers of special orbits. Then, we prove the conjecture for Richardson orbits and obtain certain partial results in general. In the process, we reveal some very interesting and yet subtle structures of these finite covers, which are related to Lusztig's canonical quotients of special nilpotent orbits. For example, there is a mysterious asymmetry in the footprint or range of degrees of these finite covers. Finally, we provide two examples to show that the mirror symmetry fails outside the footprint.

Abstract:For a non-compact simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ over $\mathbb{R}$, we denote by $\mathcal{O}^{\mathbb{C}}_{\min,\mathfrak{g}}$ the unique complex nilpotent orbit in $\mathfrak{g} \otimes_\mathbb{R} \mathbb{C}$ containing all minimal real nilpotent orbits in $\mathfrak{g}$. In this paper, we give a complete classification of symmetric pairs $(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h})$ such that $\mathcal{O}^{\mathbb{C}}_{\min,\mathfrak{g}} \cap \mathfrak{g}^d = \emptyset$, where $\mathfrak{g}^d$ denotes the dual Lie algebra of $(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h})$. Furthermore, for symmetric pairs $(G,H)$ with real simple Lie group $G$, we apply our classification to theorems given by T. Kobayashi [J. Lie Theory (2023)], and study bounded multiplicity properties of restrictions on $H$ of infinite-dimensional irreducible $G$-representations with minimum Gelfand--Kirillov dimension.

On the dimension of c-nilpotent multiplier of n-Lie algebras

Abstract:Let L be a finite-dimensional n-Lie algebra with free presentation F/R. Then the concept of c-nilpotent multiplier of L, denoted by M(c)(L), is defined as follows: M(c)(L) =(gamma c+1(F) R)/gamma c+1(R, F, . . . , F). In this paper, we obtain some inequalities and certain bounds for the dimension of M(c)(L) by using the basic commutators. Also, we discuss the relationship between the dimension of the c-nilpotent multiplier of L and the c-nilpotent multiplier of some factor of L. We further obtain an inequality between dimensions of c-nilpotent multiplier of n-Lie algebra and non-abelian tensor (exterior) product of a central ideal by its abelianized factor n-Lie algebra. Finally, we also determine the dimension and structure of c-nilpotent multipliers Heisenberg n-Lie algebras, which can be a useful tool for determining the dimension of the multiplier of nilpotent n-Lie algebras of class 2.

Abstract:In this paper, we first recall the concept of c-nilpotent multiplier and c-capability of n-Lie algebras and also, recall the formula for calculating the number of basic commutators in n-Lie algebras. Then we give the structure of 2-nilpotent multiplier of the direct sum of two n-Lie algebras. Next, we calculate the dimension of 2-nilpotent multiplier of every abelian n-Lie algebras and Heisenberg n-Lie algebras H(n,m). Then we give a dimension of 2-nilpotent multiplier of any nilpotent n-Lie algebras of class 2 by using the number of basic commutators.

Abstract:Let H be a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra over a field k , and let A be an H -module algebra. In this paper, we discuss the cotorsion dimension of the smash product A # H . We prove that l. .D( A# H) ⩽ l. .D( A ) + r.D( H ), which generalizes the result of group rings. Moreover, we give some sufficient conditions for which l. .D( A# H) = l. .D( A ). As applications, we study the invariants of IF properties and Gorenstein global dimensions.

Abstract:Let the pair $(\mathfrak{g},J)$ be a nilpotent Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ (NLA for short) endowed with a nilpotent complex structure $J$. In this paper, motivated by a question in the work of Cordero, Fernández, Gray and Ugarte, we prove that $2\leq \nu(J) \leq 3$ for $(\mathfrak{g},J)$ when $\nu(\mathfrak{g})=2$, where $\nu(\mathfrak{g})$ is the step of $\mathfrak{g}$ and $\nu(J)$ is the unique smallest integer such that $\mathfrak{a}(J)_{\nu(J)}=\mathfrak{g}$ as in Definition 1 and 8 of the paper by Cordero, Fernández, Gray and Ugarte. When $\nu(\mathfrak{g})=3$, for arbitrary $n \geq 3$, there exists a pair $(\mathfrak{g},J)$ such that $\nu(J)=\dim_{\mathbb{C}}\mathfrak{g}=n$, for which we call the $J$ in the pair $(\mathfrak{g},J)$, satisfying $\nu(J)=\dim_{\mathbb{C}}\mathfrak{g}=n$, a maximal nilpotent (MaxN for short) complex structure. The algebraic dimension of a nilmanifold endowed with a left invariant MaxN complex structure is discussed. Furthermore, a structure theorem is proved for the pair $(\mathfrak{g},J)$, where $\nu(\mathfrak{g})=3$ and $J$ is a MaxN complex structure.

Coadjoint Orbits in Duals of Lie Algebras with Admissible Ideals

Abstract:We analyze the symplectic structure of the coadjoint orbits of Lie groups with Lie algebras that contain admissible ideals. Such ideals were introduced by Pukanszky to investigate the global symplectic structure of simply connected coadjoint orbits of connected, simply connected, solvable Lie groups. Using the theory of symplectic reduction of cotangent bundles, we identify classes of coadjoint orbits which are vector bundles. This implies Pukanszky's earlier result that such orbits have a symplectic form which is the sum of the canonical form and a magnetic term. This approach also allows us to provide many of the essential details of Pukanszky's result regarding the existence of global Darboux coordinates for the simply connected coadjoint orbits of connected, simply connected solvable Lie groups. Abstract:We show that for every complex simple Lie algebra , the equations of Schubert divisors on the flag variety give a complete integrable system of the minimal nilpotent orbit . The approach is motivated by the integrable system on Coulomb branch as reported by Braverman (arXiv preprint arXiv:1604.03625, 2016).We give explicit computations of these Hamiltonian functions, using Chevalley basis and a so-called Heisenberg algebra basis. For classical Lie algebras we rediscover the lower order terms of the celebrated Gelfand-Zeitlin system. For exceptional types we computed the number of Hamiltonian functions associated to each vertex of Dynkin diagram. They should be regarded as analogs of Gelfand-Zeitlin functions on exceptional type Lie algebras.

Abstract:Let L be an n-dimensional nilpotent Lie algebra of nilpotency class c ≥ 2 over an arbitrary field F with dim ⁡ γ 2 ( L ) = m and dim ( Z ( L ) Z ( L ) ∩ γ 2 ( L ) ) = t , where Z ( L ) and γ 2 ( L ) denote the center ideal and the derived subalgebra of L, respectively. The purpose of this work is to obtain a new bound on the dimension of the Schur multiplier for L, which is given in terms of n , m , c , and t. In the virtue of an old bound due to Niroomand and Russo, namely 1 2 ( n − m − 1 ) ( n + m − 2 ) + 1 , we find a finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebra L of nilpotency class 3 over a field F of characteristic 3 that attains this bound. We then present a complete list of all finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras of nilpotency class at least 2 that reach Niroomand–Russo's Formula. Finally, we give the structure of all finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras that attain some recent generalizations of Niroomand–Russo's Formula.

Abstract:This paper includes the classification, in a simple Lie algebra, of the singularities of Slodowy slices between special nilpotent orbits that are adjacent in the partial order on nilpotent orbits. The irreducible components of most singularities are (up to normalization) either a simple surface singularity or the closure of a minimal special nilpotent orbit in a smaller rank Lie algebra. Besides those cases, there are some exceptional cases that arise as certain quotients of the closure of a minimal orbit in types $A_2$ and $D_n$. We also consider the action on the slice of the fundamental group of the smaller orbit. With this action, we observe that under Lusztig-Spaltenstein duality, in most cases, a simple surface singularity is interchanged with the closure of a minimal special orbit of Langlands dual type (or a cover of it with action). This empirical observation generalizes an observation of Kraft and Procesi in type $A_n$, where all nilpotent orbits are special. We also resolve a conjecture of Lusztig that concerns the intersection cohomology of slices between special nilpotent orbits.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a simple algebraic group with $\mathfrak g=Lie(G)$ and $\mathcal O\subset\mathfrak g$ a nilpotent orbit. If $H$ is a reductive subgroup of $G$ with $Lie(H)=\mathfrak h$, then $\mathfrak g=\mathfrak h\oplus\mathfrak m$, where $\mathfrak m=\mathfrak h^\perp$. We consider the natural projections $\phi: \bar{\mathcal O}\to\mathfrak h$ and $\psi:\bar{\mathcal O}\to\mathfrak m$, and two related properties of the pair $(H,\mathcal O)$: $(P_1)$: $\bar{\mathcal O}\cap\mathfrak m={0}$ and $(P_2)$: $H$ has a dense orbit in $\mathcal O$. We show that $(P_1)$ implies $(P_2)$ for all $\mathcal O$ and these properties are equivalent for $\mathcal O=\mathcal O_{min}$, the minimal nilpotent orbit. If $(P_1)$ holds, then $\phi$ is finite, and $\phi(\bar{\mathcal O})$ is the closure of a nilpotent H-orbit $\mathcal O'$. We prove that $\mathcal O$ is contained in the closure of the G-orbit $G{\cdot}\mathcal O'$ and obtain the classification of pairs $(H,\mathcal O)$ with property $(P_1)$. The orbit $\mathcal O'$ is "shared" in the sense of Brylinski and Kostant. Using our classification, we detect an omission in the list of pairs $(H,G)$ having a shared orbit that is given in "Nilpotent orbits, normality, and hamiltonian group actions", J.A.M.S., 7 (1994), 269--298. It is also proved that if $(P_1)$ holds for $(H, \mathcal O_{min})$, then both varieties $\phi(\mathcal O_{min})$ and $\psi(\mathcal O_{min})$ generate the same closed subvariety of $\mathfrak g$.

Characteristically nilpotent Lie groups with flat coadjoint orbits

Abstract:We study the existence of certain characteristically nilpotent Lie algebras with flat coadjoint orbits. Their connected, simply connected Lie groups admit square-integrable representations modulo the center. There are many examples of nilpotent Lie groups admitting families of dilations and square-integrable representations, but so far no examples admitting square-integrable representations for which the quotient by the center does not admit a family of dilations. In this paper we construct a two-parameter family of characteristically nilpotent Lie groups $G(\alpha,\beta)$ in dimension $11$, admitting square-integrable representations modulo the center $Z$, such that $G(\alpha,\beta)/Z$ does not admit a family of dilations.

Abstract:The structure of nilpotent symplectic algebras of maximal class has been studied in [8, 5]. In this paper, we study the dual subclass of algebras of minimal class. In particular, we show that symplectic alternating algebras of dimension up to $16$ that are minimal, in the sense that they are of rank $2$ with minimum nilpotency class, have a class that confirm a conjecture that has been raised in [3].

Local geometry of special pieces of nilpotent orbits

Abstract:The nilpotent cone of a simple Lie algebra is partitioned into locally closed subvarieties called special pieces, each containing exactly one special orbit. Lusztig conjectured that each special piece is the quotient of some smooth variety by a precise finite group $H$, a result proved for the classical types by Kraft and Procesi. The present work is about exceptional types. Our main result is a local version of Lusztig's conjecture: the intersection of a special piece with a Slodowy slice transverse to the minimal orbit in the piece is isomorphic to the quotient of a vector space by $H$. Along the way, we complete our previous work on the generic singularities of nilpotent orbit closures, by providing proofs for the last two `exotic' singularities. Four further, non-isolated, exotic singularities are studied: we show that quotients $\overline{{\mathcal 0}_{\text{mini}}(\mathfrak{so}_8)}/\mathfrak{S}_4$, $S^2({\mathbb C}^2/\mu_3)$, $S^3({\mathbb C}^2/\mu_2)$ and $\overline{{\mathcal 0}_{\text{mini}}(\mathfrak{sl}_3)}/\mathfrak{S}_4$ occur as Slodowy slice singularities between nilpotent orbits in types $F_4$, $E_6$, $E_7$ and $E_8$ respectively. We also extend, to fields other than ${\mathbb C}$, the results of Brylinski and Kostant on shared orbit pairs. In the course of our analysis, we discover a shared pair which is missing from Brylinski and Kostant's classification.

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a simple classical Lie algebra over $\mathbb{C}$ and $G$ be the adjoint group. Consider a nilpotent element $e\in \mathfrak{g}$, and the adjoint orbit $\mathbb{O}=Ge$. The formal slices to the codimension $2$ orbits in the closure $\overline{\mathbb{O}}\subset \mathfrak{g}$ are well-known due to the work of Kraft and Procesi. In this paper, we prove a similar result for the universal $G$-equivariant cover $\widetilde{\mathbb{O}}$ of $\mathbb{O}$. Namely, we describe the codimension $2$ singularities for its affinization $Spec(\mathbb{C}[\widetilde{\mathbb{O}}])$.
