Abstract:The R-symmetry formalism is applied for the supersymmetric economical SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X (3-3-1) model. The generalization of the minimal supersymmetric standard model relation among R-parity, spin and matter parity is derived, and discrete symmetries for the proton stability in this model are imposed. We show that in such a case it is able to give leptons masses at just the tree level. A simple mechanism for the mass generation of the neutrinos is explored. With the new R-parity, the neutral fermions get mass matrix with two distinct sectors: one light which is identified with neutrino mass matrix, another heavy one which is identified with neutralinos one. The similar situation exists in the charged fermion sector. Some phenomenological consequences such as proton stability, neutrinoless double beta decays are discussed.

Abstract:The simplest unified extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with bilinear R-Parity violation provides a predictive scheme for neutrino masses which can account for the observed atmospheric and solar neutrino anomalies. Despite the smallness of neutrino masses R-parity violation is observable at present and future high-energy colliders, providing an unambiguous cross-check of the model.

Abstract:We discuss a scenario in which the supergravity induced soft terms, conventionally used for breaking supersymmetry, also lead to non-zero Majorana neutrino masses. The soft terms lead to the spontaneous violation of the lepton number at the gravitino mass scale m 3 / 2 which in turn leads to (i) the Majorana masses of ( m 3 / 2 ) for the right-handed neutrinos and (ii) the R -parity breaking at the same scale. The former contributes to light neutrino masses through the type I seesaw mechanism, while the latter adds to it through neutrino-neutralino mixing. Both contributions can scale inversely with respect to m 3 / 2 given that gaugino and Higgsino masses are also of order m 3 / 2 . Together, these two contributions adequately explain observed neutrino masses and mixing. One realization of the scenario also naturally leads to a μ parameter of ( m 3 / 2 ). Despite the lepton number symmetry breaking close to the weak scale, the Majoron in the model exhibits very weak coupling to leptons, satisfying existing constraints on Majoron-lepton interactions. The right-handed neutrinos in the model have a large coupling to Higgsinos. This coupling and the relatively large heavy-light neutrino mixing induced through the seesaw mechanism may lead to the observable signals at colliders in terms of displaced vertices.

Abstract:We explore generalized global symmetries in theories of physics beyond the standard model. Theories of Z′ bosons generically contain "noninvertible" chiral symmetries, whose presence indicates a natural paradigm to break this symmetry by an exponentially small amount in an ultraviolet completion. For example, in models of gauged lepton family difference such as the phenomenologically well motivated U(1)Lμ−Lτ , there is a noninvertible lepton number symmetry which protects neutrino masses. We embed these theories in gauged non-Abelian horizontal lepton symmetries, e.g., U(1)Lμ−Lτ⊂SU(3)H , where the generalized symmetries are broken nonperturbatively by the existence of lepton family magnetic monopoles. In such theories, either Majorana or Dirac neutrino masses may be generated through quantum gauge theory effects from the charged lepton Yukawas, e.g., yν∼yτexp(−Sinst) . Neutrino models with a zero mass eigenvalue

Abstract:Absolute values of the neutrino mass are not known still now although their upper bounds are constrained through several experiments and observations. Recent analyses of cosmological observations present severe constraint on the sum of neutrino masses. It might suggest an interesting possibility for the absolute values of neutrino mass and their ordering. In this paper, taking it as a useful hint, we study possible neutrino models with a zero mass eigenvalue from a view point of neutrino oscillation data and baryon number asymmetry in the Universe. We focus our study on the seesaw type mass generation by making a certain assumption for origin of right-handed neutrino mass.

Abstract:The nonzero vacuum expectative values of sneutrinos induce spontaneously R-parity and lepton number violation, and generate three tiny Majorana neutrino masses through the seesaw mechanism in the μνSSM, which is one of Supersymmetric extensions beyond Standard Model. Applying effective Lagrangian method, we study the transition magnetic moment of Majorana neutrinos in the model here. Under the constraints from neutrino oscillations, we consider the two possibilities on the neutrino mass spectrum with normal or inverted ordering.
The Minimal Massive Majoron Seesaw Model

Abstract:A convincing explanation of the smallness of neutrino masses is represented by the Type-I Seesaw mechanism, where the two measured neutrino mass differences can be generated by introducing at least two right-handed neutrinos. In an ultraviolet complete model, it is possible to dynamically generate the heavy Majorana scale through the spontaneous symmetry breaking of a global Abelian symmetry and the most economical realisation consists in coupling the two exotic neutral leptons to a singlet complex scalar field. The associated Goldstone boson is often dubbed as Majoron, which may achieve a non-vanishing mass by means of a small term that explicitly breaks the Abelian symmetry. In a generic model, the neutrino and Majoron mass generation mechanisms are completely uncorrelated. In this paper, instead, we reduce the landscape of possible models proposing a unique, minimal and predictive framework in which these two types of masses are strictly tied and arise from the same source. Bounds from various terrestrial and astrophysical experiments are discussed.

Abstract:With just the Standard Model Higgs doublet, there are only three types of seesaw models that generate light Majorana neutrino masses at tree level after electroweak spontaneous symmetry breaking. However, if there exist additional TeV scalars acquiring vacuum expectation values, coupled with heavier fermionic multiplets, several new seesaw models become possible. These new seesaws are the primary focus of this study and correspond to the tree-level ultraviolet completions of the effective operators studied in a companion publication. We are interested in the genuine cases, in which the standard seesaw contributions are absent. In addition to the tree-level generation of neutrino masses, we also consider the one-loop contributions. Furthermore, we construct low-energy versions that exhibit a very rich phenomenology. Specifically, we scrutinise the generation of dimension-6 operators and explore their implications, including non-unitarity of the leptonic mixing matrix, non-universal $Z-$boson interactions, and lepton flavor violation. Finally, we provide (Generalised) Scotogenic-like variants that incorporate viable dark matter candidates.

Radiative Majorana Neutrino Masses in a Parity Solution to the Strong CP Problem

Abstract:The strong CP problem can be solved in Parity symmetric theories with electroweak gauge group containing $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$ broken by the minimal Higgs content. Neutrino masses may be explained by adding the same number of gauge singlet fermions as the number of generations. The neutrino masses vanish at tree-level and are only radiatively generated, leading to larger couplings of right-handed neutrinos to Standard Model particles than with the tree-level seesaw mechanism. We compute these radiative corrections and the mixing angles between left- and right-handed neutrinos. We discuss sensitivities to these right-handed neutrinos from a variety of future experiments that search for heavy neutral leptons with masses from tens of MeV to the multi-TeV scale.

Abstract:If the one term $(\hat \nu_e \hat \mu - \hat e \hat \nu_\mu) \hat \tau^c$ is added to the MSSM (Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model) superpotential, the recently observed muon g--2 (anomalous magnetic moment) excess can be explained very simply by a light $\tilde \nu_e$. If the soft symmetry-breaking terms $\hat \nu_\alpha \hat h_2^0 - \hat l_\alpha \hat h_2^+$ are also added, realistic neutrino masses (with bimaximal mixing) are generated as well.

Abstract:We study a mechanism where tiny neutrino masses arise only from radiative contribution in a supersymmetric model. Without tuning the Higgs vev or Yukawa coupling, the tree-level light neutrino mass is rotated away by introducing a new singlet neutrino sL that forms a Dirac mass term with the right-handed neutrino nR in each generation. Even with the U(1)Lep lepton number violation term as non-zero right-handed Majorana neutrino mass MRnRc¯nR, the lightest neutrino remains massless at tree level due to an approximate symmetry. Consequently, tiny neutrino masses then only arise from radiative contributions and the right-handed neutrino Majorana mass MR can be at O(keV) to give rise to the correct light neutrino mass at O(eV). Supersymmetry ensures that the Majorana neutrino masses MRnRc¯nR and MR⁎sLc¯sL are not generated simultaneously.
Majorana Neutrinos and Dark Matter from Anomaly Cancellation

Abstract:We discuss a simple theory for neutrino masses where the total lepton number is a local gauge symmetry spontaneously broken below the multi-TeV scale. In this context, the neutrino masses are generated through the canonical seesaw mechanism and a Majorana dark matter candidate is predicted from anomaly cancellation. We discuss in great detail the dark matter annihilation channels and find out the upper bound on the symmetry breaking scale using the cosmological bounds on the relic density. Since in this context the dark matter candidate has suppressed couplings to the Standard Model quarks, one can satisfy the direct detection bounds even if the dark matter mass is close to the electroweak scale. This theory predicts a light pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson (the Majoron) associated to the mechanism of neutrino mass. We discuss briefly the properties of the Majoron and the impact of the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis bounds.

Abstract:We study neutrino physics in the context of a supersymmetric model where a continuous R-symmetry is identified with the total Lepton Number and one sneutrino can thus play the role of the down type Higgs. We show that R-breaking effects communicated to the visible sector by Anomaly Mediation can reproduce neutrino masses and mixing solely via radiative contributions, without requiring any additional degree of freedom. In particular, a relatively large reactor angle (as recently observed by the Daya Bay collaboration) can be accommodated in ample regions of the parameter space. On the contrary, if the R-breaking is communicated to the visible sector by gravitational effects at the Planck scale, additional particles are necessary to accommodate neutrino data.

Abstract:It is well known that the neutrino mass matrix contains more parameters than experimentalists can hope to measure in the foreseeable future even if we impose CP invariance. Thus, various authors have proposed Ans\"atze to restrict the form of the neutrino mass matrix further. Here we propose that ${m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{1}}{+m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{2}}{+m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{3}}=0.$ With this condition, the absolute neutrino mass can be obtained in terms of the mass-squared differences. When combined with the accumulated experimental data, this condition predicts two types of mass hierarchies, with one of them characterized by ${m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{3}}\ensuremath{\approx}\ensuremath{-}{2m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{1}}\ensuremath{\approx}\ensuremath{-}{2m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{2}}\ensuremath{\approx}0.063\mathrm{eV},$ and the other by ${m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{1}}\ensuremath{\approx}\ensuremath{-}{m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{2}}\ensuremath{\approx}0.054\mathrm{eV}$ and ${m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{3}}\ensuremath{\approx}0.0064\mathrm{eV}.$ The range predicted for $|{m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{1}}|+|{m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{2}}|+|{m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{3}}|$ is below the cosmological upper bound of 0.69 eV from recent Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe data and can be probed in the near future. We also point out some implications for direct laboratory measurement of neutrino masses and the neutrino mass matrix.

Abstract:We revisit our earlier proposal for the form of the neutrino mass matrix: a two-zero ansatz wherein the CP-violating PMNS phase $\delta$ plays a surprisingly important role. We review its observable consequences and show how our ansatz follows from a softly-broken symmetry (muon number minus tau lepton number) in a see-saw model with three Higgs doublets.

Abstract:R-parity conservation is an nd hoc assumption in the most popular version of the supersymmetric standard model. Most studies of models which do allow for R-parity violation have been restricted to various limiting scenarios. The single-VEV parametrization used in this paper provides a workable framework to analyze phenomenology of the most general theory of SUSY without R parity. We perform a comprehensive study of leptonic phenomenology at the tree level. Experimental constraints on various processes are studied individually and then combined to yield regions of admissible parameter space. In particular we show that large R-parity violating bilinear couplings are not ruled out, especially for large tan beta.

Abstract:$\mu\nu$SSM is an $R$-parity violating non-minimal supersymmetric model which uses right chiral neutrino superfields to solve the $\mu$-problem. The $R$-parity violation together with a TeV scale seesaw mechanism using right handed neutrinos are instrumental for the light neutrino mass generation in $\mu\nu$SSM. We show that it is possible to accommodate three flavour global neutrino data in $\mu\nu$SSM with three massive neutrinos at the tree level. Ingression of the one-loop corrections to neutrino masses and mixing shows certain variations over the tree level analysis depending on the specific hierarchy of neutrino masses involved. In $\mu\nu$SSM some of the $R$-parity violating decay branching ratios of the lightest neutralino show nice correlation with certain neutrino mixing angle. These correlations along with the presence of displaced vertices in the decay of the lightest neutralino can be further investigated as a test of $\mu\nu$SSM in collider experiments.
