Abstract:Lattice QCD provides a promising method of addressing the elusive non-perturbative aspect of hadronic physics. It may be used in an investigation of underlying quark dynamics which is not based on model dependent calculations. The study of electromagnetic form factors allows a comparison of the predictions of the quark model and the Skyrme model with those of non-perturbative model independent approaches such as Lattice QCD and the QCD Sum Rule method. The first lattice calculations of electroma~etic form factors focussed on the electric form factor of the pion with SU(2) color [I]. These were later extended to SU(3) color [2]. Calculations of the electric form factor of the proton followed [3]. Most recently, both the electric and magnetic form factors of the proton and neutron were calculated [4]. Here the analysis of reference [4] is extended to calculate the electromagnetic form factors of the octet baryons. Electric and magnetic form factors have been calculated (from twoand three-point baryon correlation functions) on a quenched 24 x 12 x 12 x 24 lattice with p = 5.9. A small value of momentum transfer (I&X = 2x/24) was investigated for three values of quark mass (K = 0.152,0.154,0.156). nom these form factors, electric and magnetic charge radii, magnetic moments and magnetic transition moments have been extracted. More details of the method of calculation as outlined in reference j4] are provided in reference [5]. The results illustrate the manner in which quarks account for the electromagnetic structure of baryons. An outstanding problem of hadronic physics has been to explain the magnetic moments of baryons. In figure 1, we have collected recent results of alternative approaches to the strong interaction. The results of SU(6) symmetry, the sum rule approach [S], our lattice calculation, a recent quark model [7], and the Skyrme model [8] are compared to experimental ratios of magnetic moments. (The experimental and sum rule results for Co are obtained using the SU(2) relationship ~E:D = (PC+ + lc-)f2.) The quark model results differ significantly from those of the simple quark model only in the value of the Cmagnetic ratio which has been shifted from -0.391 to -0.505. The quark model (with four parameters) does not reproduce the magnetic moment ratios as well as the sum rule or lattice results. Only the N and A magnetic ratios are accurately reproduced. The Skyrme model (with two parameters) reverses the order of many of the SU(6) partners. The results of the sum rule approach (which has vacuum susceptibility parameters optimized to give the best agreement with experimental magnetic moments) are very similar to those of the lattice with the exception of the 2where non-perturbative and strange-quark mass effects are very large in the sum rule calculation.

Abstract:In-medium nucleon electromagnetic form factors are calculated in the quark meson coupling model. The form factors are typically found to be suppressed as the density increases. For example, at normal nuclear density and Q2∼0.3 GeV2, the nucleon electric form factors are reduced by approximately 8% while the magnetic form factors are reduced by only 1–2%. These variations are consistent with current experimental limits but should be tested by more precise experiments in the near future.

Abstract:Nucleon electromagnetic form factors are studied in the cloudy bag model (CBM) with center-of-mass and recoil corrections. This is the first presentation of a full set of nucleon form factors using the CBM. The center of mass motion is eliminated via several different momentum projection techniques and the results are compared. It is found that the shapes of these form factors are significantly improved with respect to the experimental data if the Lorentz contraction of the internal structure of the baryon is also appropriately taken into account.

Abstract:We study medium modifications of the nucleon electromagnetic form factors in the vector meson dominance model. The in-medium vector meson masses are taken from a chiral SU(3) model. We find that the electric and magnetic form factors of the bound nucleon deviate considerably from those of the free nucleon. Our results are comparable to the results from the quark meson coupling model approach and are consistent with present experimental limits.
[A case of signet-ring cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder].

Abstract:Signet-ring cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder is a rare disease. A 78-year-old man was admitted to our hospital on March 18, 1988 with the complaints of microhematuria and pollakisuria. Cystoscopic examination revealed non-papillary tumor at the dome of the bladder. partial cystectomy was done under epidural anesthesia. Pathological findings revealed signet-ring cell carcinoma. The gastrointestinal, respiratory and genitourinary tracts were examined but no other tumor lesions could be found. The postoperative course was uneventful, and chemotherapy such as biological response modifier was administered. However, the patient died of heart failure on July 14, 1988. This is the sixtieth case reported in the literature.

Abstract:The electromagnetic and axial form factors of the nucleon and its lowest positive parity excitations, the Delta(1232) and the N*(1440), are calculated with constituent-quark models that are specified by simple algebraic representations of the mass-operator eigenstates. Poincaré covariant current operators are generated by the dynamics from single-quark currents that are covariant under a kinematic subgroup. The dependence of the calculated form factors on the choice of kinematics and on the gross features of the wave functions is illustrated for instant-form, point-form, and front-form kinematics. A simple algebraic form of the orbital ground state wave function, which depends on two parameters, allows a fair description of all the form factors over the empirically accessible range, although with widely different choices of the parameters, which determine the range and shape of the orbital wave function. The neutron electric form factor requires additional features, for instance the presence of mixed symmetry S-state component with 1 -- 2 % probability in the ground state wave function. Instant and front form kinematics demand a spatially extended wave function, whereas in point form kinematics the form factors may be described with a quite compact wave function.

Abstract:A symmetry-preserving approach to the two valence-body continuum bound-state problem is used to calculate the elastic electromagnetic form factors of the $\rho$-meson and subsequently to study the evolution of vector-meson form factors with current-quark mass. To facilitate a range of additional comparisons, $K^\ast$ form factors are also computed. The analysis reveals that: vector mesons are larger than pseudoscalar mesons; composite vector mesons are non-spherical, with magnetic and quadrupole moments that deviate $\sim 30$\% from point-particle values; in many ways, vector-meson properties are as much influenced by emergent mass as those of pseudoscalars; and vector meson electric form factors possess a zero at spacelike momentum transfer. Qualitative similarities between the electric form factors of the $\rho$ and the proton, $G_E^p$, are used to argue that the character of emergent mass in the Standard Model can force a zero in $G_E^p$. Morover, the existence of a zero in vector meson electric form factors entails that a single-pole vector meson dominance model can only be of limited use in estimating properties of off-shell vector mesons, providing poor guidance for systems in which the Higgs-mechanism of mass generation is dominant.

Abstract:Based on an extended NJL model including heavy quark flavors, we calculate the form factors of pseudoscalar and vector mesons. After taking into account the vector-meson-dominance effect, which introduces a form factor correction to the quark vector coupling vertices, the form factors and electric radii of pi(+) and K+ pseudo-scalar mesons in the light flavor sector fit the experimental data well. The magnetic moments of the light vector mesons rho(+) and K*(+) are comparable with other theoretical calculations. The form factors in the light-heavy flavor sector are presented to compare with future experiments or other theoretical calculations.

Abstract:We systematically investigate the electromagnetic form factors of heavy-light pseudo-scalar and vector mesons within the Dyson-Schwinger/Bethe-Salpeter equations framework for the first time. It is found that the charge radius of vector meson is larger than that of its pseudo-scalar counterpart. In heavy-light systems, the flavor symmetry breaking will lead to a splitting of the form factor of different quark, and the distribution range of lighter and heavier quark gradually expands and contracts, respectively. The competition between them together generates the electromagnetic form factors of meson. Our results can be compared with other theoretical calculations and future experimental data.

Abstract:We investigate the electromagnetic form factors of nucleons within a simple relativistic quark spectator-diquark model using the light-cone formalism. Melosh rotations are applied to both quark and vector diquark. It is shown that the difference between vector and scalar spectator diquarks reproduces the right electric form factor of neutrons, and both the form factors G(E)(Q(2)) and G(M)(Q(2)) of the proton and neutron agree with experimental data well up to Q(2) = 2 GeV2 in this simple model.

Abstract:We discuss electromagnetic currents in the point-form formulation of relativistic quantum mechanics. The construction is along a spectator model and implies that only one quark is explicitly coupled to the photon, but nevertheless many-body contributions are present in the current operator. Such effects are unavoidable in relativistic constructions and resulting ambiguities are notably reduced by imposing charge normalization and time-reversal invariance. The residual theoretical indetermination introduces small but sizeable changes in the nucleon form-factors, particularly at higher Q-squared values, with the data generally centered in the middle of the theoretical band.

Abstract:We compute electromagnetic and two-photon transition form factors of ground-state pseudoscalar mesons: $\pi,\,K,\,\eta_c,\,\eta_b$. To this end, we employ an algebraic model based upon the coupled formalism of Schwinger-Dyson and Bethe-Salpeter equations. Within this approach, the dressed quark propagator and the relevant Bethe-Salpeter amplitude encode the internal structure of the corresponding meson. Electromagnetic properties of the meson are probed via the quark-photon interaction. The algebraic model employed by us unifies the treatment of all ground-state pseudoscalar mesons. Its parameters are carefully fitted performing a global analysis of existing experimental data including the knowledge of the charge radii of the mesons studied. We then compute and predict electromagnetic and two-photon transition form factors for a wide range of probing photon momentum-squared which is of direct relevance to the experimental observations carried out thus far or planned at different hadron physics facilities such as the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) and the forthcoming Electron-Ion Collider. We also present comparisons with other theoretical models and approaches and lattice quantum chromodynamics.

Abstract:We present a detailed survey of electric, magnetic and quadrupole form factors of light and heavy spin-1 vector mesons. It complements our analogous analysis of the electromagnetic form factors of pseudoscalar and scalar mesons reported earlier. Our formalism is based upon the Schwinger-Dyson equations treatment of a vector $\times$ vector contact interaction and the Bethe-Salpeter equation description of relativistic two-body bound states. We compute the form factors, associated moments and charge radii, comparing these quantities to earlier theoretical studies and experimental results if and when possible. We also investigate the quark-mass dependence of the charge radii and find the anticipated hierarchy such that it decreases with increasing dressed quark masses. In addition, our analysis shows that the magnetic moment is independent of the mass of the light and heavy mesons. Our results agree with most measurements reported earlier, finding a negative quadrupole moment, implying the charge distribution is oblate.

Abstract:We study neutral and charged meson properties in the magnetic field. Taking the bosonization method in a two-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model, we derive effective meson Lagrangian density with minimal coupling to the magnetic field, by employing derivative expansion for both the meson fields and Schwinger phases. We extract from the effective Lagrangian density the meson curvature, pole and screening masses. As the only Goldstone mode, the neutral pion controls the thermodynamics of the system and propagates the long range quark interaction. The magnetic field breaks down the space symmetry, and the quark interaction region changes from a sphere in vacuum to a ellipsoid in magnetic field.

Abstract:We propose a phenomenological extended vector meson dominance model for the baryon electromagnetic structure, and it is found that the current experimental data on the Σ and Ξ electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region can be well described. Meanwhile, we can also reproduce the ratios of the total cross sections of reactions e+e−→Σ+Σ ̄− , Σ0Σ ̄0 , and Σ−Σ ̄+ , which are 9.7±1.3∶3.3±0.7∶1 at center-of-mass energies from 2.3864 GeV to 3.02 GeV. We also analytically continue the expression of the form factors to spacelike region and estimate the charge radii of the Σ and Ξ hyperons. Abstract:We calculate electromagnetic form factors of the proton bound in specified orbits for several closed shell nuclei. The quark structure of the nucleon and the shell structure of the finite nuclei are given by the QMC model. Abstract:The electromagnetic and gravitational form factors of Ω− , a spin- 3/2 hyperon composed of three s quarks, are calculated by using a covariant quark-diquark approach. The model parameters are determined by fitting to the form factors of the lattice QCD calculations. Our obtained electromagnetic radii, magnetic moment, and electric-quadrupole moment are in agreement with the experimental measurements and some other model calculations. Furthermore, the mass and spin distributions of Ω− from the gravitational form factors are also displayed. It is found that the mass radius is smaller than its electromagnetic ones. Abstract:Using the relativistic BS equation with the kernel containing a confinement term and a gluon exchange term in a covariant generalization of the Coulomb gauge the formula for masses of heavy mesons with arbitrary spin and parity are obtained to the order 1/M. The retardation effect is taken into account. Numerical values for low-lying states of D and B systems are obtained.

Abstract:In this study, we employ a modified soft-wall holographic model with four flavors to investigate the meson spectra, decay constants, electromagnetic form factors, and charge radius of various mesons. We obtain the spectra for vector, axial vector, and pseudoscalar mesons. Decay constants are calculated and compared with experimental and lattice QCD data. The pion and kaon electromagnetic form factors are compared with the experimental data, and a good agreement is achieved for the kaon at low $Q^{2}$. For the charmed mesons, the electromagnetic form factors of the $D$ and $D_{s}$ and electric form factors of the $D^{*}$ and $D_{s}^{*}$ are well consistent with the lattice QCD data. Moreover, the electric, magnetic, and quadrupole form factors are predicted for the $\rho$, $K^{*}$, $a_1$, $K_1$, $D_1$, and $D_{s1}$ mesons. Furthermore, the charge radius of the vector, axial vector, and pseudoscalars, including the strange and charmed mesons, are computed.
