Abstract:On the basis of the generalized invariant formulation, the invariant-related unitary transformation method is used to study the evolution of the quantum Dirac field in a time-dependent spatially homogeneous electric field. We solve the functional Schr?dinger equation for the Dirac field and obtain the exact solutions and corresponding total phase. The total phase includes both the dynamical phase and geometric phase (Aharonov-Anandan phase).

Abstract:We obtain the exact operator solution of two-dimensional quantum Born-Infeld theory. This theory has a Lagrangian density non-polynomial in the fundamental fields. So this analysis might shed some light on the analysis of non-perturbative effects of field theories. We find the new exact soluble class of quantum field theories.

In this paper, we propose a concrete construction of a topological operator in their formulation. We focus on a shift symmetry of a one-dimensional massless scalar theory. And we give some discussions of $\mathbb{Z}$-gauging of it, i.e., compact scalar theory and its $\theta$-vacuum.

Abstract:We derive an explicit, exactly conformally invariant form for the action for the non-abelian Toda field theory. We demonstrate that the conformal invariance conditions, expressed in terms of the $\beta$-functions of the theory, are satisfied to all orders, and we use our results to obtain a value for the central charge agreeing with previous calculations.

Abstract:: The affine Toda field theory is studied as a 2+1-dimensional system. The third dimension appears as the discrete space dimension, corresponding to the simple roots in the A N affine root system, enumerated according to the cyclic order on the A N affine Dynkin diagram. We show that there exists a natural discretization of the affine Toda theory. The quantum analog of the τ-variables is found. The thermodynamic Bethe ansatz of the affine Toda system is studied in the limit L,N →∞. It is shown that the free energy of the systems grows proportionally to the volume.

Abstract:We consider Toda field theories in a classical Euclidean $AdS_2$ background. We compute the four-point functions of boundary operators in the $a_1$, $a_2$ and $b_2$ Toda field theories. They take the same form as the four-point functions of generators in the corresponding $\mathcal{W}$-algebras. Therefore we conjecture that the boundary operators are in one-to-one correspondence with the generators in the $\mathcal{W}$-algebras.

Abstract:For the two dimensional Toda equation corresponding to the Kac–Moody algebra Dn(1), the Darboux transformation is constructed. The coefficient matrices of the Lax pair of this equation are of even order. Comparing with the scalars in the Darboux matrices for the two dimensional A2n(2) , Cn(1) and Dn+1(2) Toda equations, the structure of the 2 × 2 blocks in the Darboux matrix for this equation is much more complicated. In the construction of Darboux matrices, it is demanded that the solutions of the Lax pair are in Lag(ℂ2n). With the help of a dense subset of Lag(ℂ2n), the nontrivial blocks of the Darboux matrices are represented by elements of O(n,ℂ). Quite a few algebraic techniques are used to simplify the Darboux matrices and to show that the form of the Darboux matrices only depends on the parity of n.
A $(q,t)$-deformation of the 2d Toda integrable hierarchy

Abstract:A $(q,t)$-deformation of the 2d Toda integrable hierarchy is introduced by enhancing the underlying symmetry algebra $\mathfrak{gl}(\infty)\simeq \text{q-W}_{1+\infty}$ to the quantum toroidal $\mathfrak{gl}(1)$ algebra. The difference-differential equations of the hierarchy are obtained from the expansion of $(q,t)$-bilinear identities, and two equations refining the 2d Toda equation are found in this way. The derivation of the bilinear identities follows from the isomorphism between the Fock representation of level $(2,0)$ of the quantum toroidal $\mathfrak{gl}(1)$ algebra and the tensor product of the q-deformed Virasoro algebra with a $u(1)$ Heisenberg algebra. It leads to identify the $(q,t)$-deformed Casimir with the screening charges of the deformed Virasoro algebra. Due to the non-trivial coproduct, equations of the hierarchy no longer involve a single tau-function, but instead relate a set of different tau functions. We then define the universal refined tau function using the $L$-matrix of the quantum toroidal $\mathfrak{gl}(1)$ algebra and interpret it as the generating function of the deformed tau functions. The equations of the hierarchy, written in terms of the universal refined tau function, combine into two-term quadratic equations similar to the $RLL$ equations.

Abstract:This paper proposes a novel approach to quantizing Nambu brackets in classical mechanics using operator formalism. The approach employs the ``Planck derivative'' to represent Nambu brackets, from which we derive a commutation relation for their quantization. Notably, this commutation relation aligns with that emerging from the T-duality of closed strings in a twisted torus with a B-field, thereby hinting at a potential connection with Double Field Theory.

Abstract:$T\overline{T}$-deformed two-dimensional quantum Maxwell theory on the torus is examined, taking into account nonperturbative effects in the deformation parameter $\mu$. We study the deformed partition function solving the relevant flow equation at the level of individual flux sectors. Summing exactly the "instanton" series, we obtain a well-defined expression for the partition function at arbitrary $\mu$. For $\mu>0$, the quantum spectrum of the theory experiences a truncation, the partition function reducing to a sum over a finite set of positive-energy states. For $\mu<0$ instead, the appearance of nonperturbative contributions in $\mu$ drastically modifies the structure of the partition function, regularizing its naive divergences through instanton-like subtractions. For each flux sector, we show that the semiclassical contribution is dominated by the deformed classical action. The theory is observed to undergo infinite-order phase transitions for certain values of $\mu$, associated with the vanishing of Polyakov-loop correlators.

Abstract:By exploiting the properties of q-deformed Coxeter elements, the scattering matrices of affine Toda field theories with real coupling constant related to any dual pair of simple Lie algebras may be expressed in a completely generic way. We discuss the governing equations for the existence of bound states, i.e. the fusing rules, in terms of q-deformed Coxeter elements, twisted q-deformed Coxeter elements and undeformed Coxeter elements. We establish the precise relation between these different formulations and study their solutions. The generalized S-matrix bootstrap equations are shown to be equivalent to the fusing rules. The relation between different versions of fusing rules and quantum conserved quantities, which result as nullvectors of a doubly q-deformed Cartan like matrix, is presented. The properties of this matrix together with the so-called combined bootstrap equations are utilised in order to derive generic integral representations for the scattering matrix in terms of quantities of either of the two dual algebras. We present extensive case-by-case data, in particular on the orbits generated by the various Coxeter elements.

Double Field Theory and $α'$ corrections: explicit examples

Abstract:We construct several solutions of effective actions for string theories beyond the supergravity approximation utilizing the framework of the Double Field Theory (DFT). The DFT effective actions, which are well suited for accommodating abelian and non-abelian T dualities, are naturally written in terms of modified connections and curvatures with torsion. We construct the most general solutions with vanishing modified torsion, and such geometries don't receive quantum corrections. We also compute the leading $\alpha'$ corrections to several supergravity solutions, including a pair of geometries related by a non-abelian T duality.

Abstract:Distinct quantum vacua of topologically ordered states can be tunneled into each other via extended operators. The possible applications include condensed matter and quantum cosmology. We present a straightforward approach to calculate the partition function on various manifolds and ground state degeneracy (GSD), mainly based on continuum/cochain topological quantum field theories (TQFTs), in any dimension. This information can be related to the counting of extended operators of bosonic/fermionic TQFTs. On the lattice scale, anyonic particles/strings live at the ends of line/surface operators. Certain systems in different dimensions are related to each other through dimensional reduction schemes, analogous to (de) categorification. Examples include spin TQFTs derived from gauging the interacting fermionic symmetry-protected topological states (with fermion parity Z(2)(f)) of symmetry groups Z(4)xZ(2) and (Z(4))(2) in 3+1D, also Z(2) and (Z(2))(2) in 2+1D. Gauging the last three cases begets non-Abelian spin TQFTs (fermionic topological order). We consider situations where a TQFT lives on (1) a closed spacetime or (2) a spacetime with a boundary, such that the bulk and boundary are fully gapped and short- or long-range entangled (SRE/LRE). Anyonic excitations can be deconfined on the boundary. We introduce newexotic topological interfaces on which neither particle nor string excitations alone condense, but only fuzzy-composite objects of extended operators can end (e.g., a string-like composite object formed by a set of particles can end on a special 2 1D boundary of 3+1D bulk). We explore the relations between group extension constructions and partially breaking constructions (e.g., 0-form/higher-form/"composite" breaking) of topological boundaries, after gauging. We comment on the implications of entanglement entropy for some such LRE systems.

Abstract:The squared eigenfunction symmetry for the Toda lattice hierarchy is explicitly constructed in the form of the Kronecker product of the vector eigenfunction and the vector adjoint eigenfunction, which can be viewed as the generating function for the additional symmetries when the eigenfunction and the adjoint eigenfunction are the wave function and the adjoint wave function respectively. Then after the Fay-like identities and some important relations about the wave functions are investigated, the action of the squared eigenfunction related to the additional symmetry on the tau function is derived, which is equivalent to the Adler-Shiota-van Moerbeke (ASvM) formulas.

Abstract:We relate the quantum cohomology of minuscule flag manifolds to the tt*-Toda equations, a special case of the topological-antitopological fusion equations which were introduced by Cecotti and Vafa in their study of supersymmetric quantum field theories. To do this, we combine the Lie-theoretic treatment of the tt*-Toda equations of Guest-Ho with the Lie-theoretic description of the quantum cohomology of minuscule flag manifolds from Chaput-Manivel-Perrin and Golyshev-Manivel.

Abstract:The paper deals with affine 2-dimensional Toda field theories related to simple Lie algebras of the classical series ${\bf D}_r$. We demonstrate that the complexification procedure followed by a restriction to a specified real Hamiltonian form commutes with the external automorphisms of $\mathfrak{g}$. This is illustrated on the examples ${\bf D}_{r+1}^{(1)} \to {\bf B}_r^{(1)}$ and ${\bf D}_4^{(1)} \to {\bf G}_2^{(1)}$ using external automorphisms of the corresponding extended Dynkin diagrams.
