Abstract:Arguments are presented for the odderon intercept being exactly equal to unity. A variational method is presented based on a complete system of one-gluon functions. For the odderon, the highest intercept calculated by this method is $1-(3\alpha_{s}/\pi)\,0.45$.

It is also found that the solution for $q_3=0$ does not belong to the odderon spectrum. The diffusion parameter is found to be of the order 0.6.

Abstract:Odderon is the C-odd amplitude which does not die out (or die very slowly) with energy. We consider the constrains on the Odderon properties and the perturbative QCD Odderon given at the lowest $\alpha_s$ order by the three gluon exchange. Then we discuss the experimental indications for the Odderon contribution to high energy proton-proton elastic scattering and some other processes in which the Odderon may reveal itself.

Abstract:We report an odderon Regge trajectory emerging from a field theoretical Coulomb gauge QCD model for the odd signature JPC (P=C= -1) glueball states (oddballs). The trajectory intercept is clearly smaller than the pomeron and even the omega trajectory's intercept which provides an explanation for the nonobservation of the odderon in high energy scattering data. To further support this result we compare to glueball lattice data and also perform calculations with an alternative model based upon an exact Hamiltonian diagonalization for three constituent gluons.

Abstract:Odderon is the $C$-odd amplitude that does not fall (or decrease very slowly) with energy. The expected amplitude is small and mainly real. Therefore, extracting it from the data on top of a much larger $C$-even contribution is challenging. The only chance is to consider the very low $|t|$ region of Coulomb nuclear interference or the diffractive dip region. Here we perform the analysis of elastic scattering $pp$ and $\bar pp$ data at low momentum transfer $|t| < 0.1$ GeV$^2$ within large collider energy interval $\sqrt s = 50$ GeV $-$ 13 TeV in order to evaluate quantitatively the possible Odderon contribution. Abstract:In this work, we propose that the odderon is a Regge spin-3 odd-glueball tensor. To demonstrate the proposal, we study the pp and pp ̄ elastic scattering by including the contributions of the spin-3 odderon and spin-2 pomeron exchange in the processes. The phenomenological effective Lagrangian approach is used to calculate the pp and pp ̄ elastic scattering amplitudes at the tree level. Additionally, the Donnachie-Landschoff ansatz of the odderon and pomeron propagators was used in further analysis. We fit the theoretical results with the various experimental data of the pp and pp ̄ scattering at the TeV scale to determine the model parameters in the present work. By using the model parameters, the Chew-Frautschi plot of the tensor odderon Regge trajectory is evaluated. As a result, the odderon spin-3 mass is predicted to be 3.2 GeV. In addition, a phase rotation is applied to the amplitude of our model in order to satisfy the geometric scaling at a very low t region. Moreover, the total cross section of our model is compatible with the results from TOTEM and its extrapolation from D0 collaboration. Abstract:For many physical quantities, theory supplies weak- and strong-coupling expansions of the types $\sum a_n \alpha ^n$ and $ \alpha ^p\sum b_n (\alpha^{-2/q) ^n$, respectively. Either or both of these may have a zero radius of convergence. We present a simple interpolation algorithm which rapidly converges for an increasing number of known expansion coefficients. The accuracy is illustrated by calculating the ground state energies of the anharmonic oscillator using only the leading large-order coefficient $b_0$ (apart from the trivial expansion coefficent $a_0=1/2$). The errors are less than 0.5 for all g. The algorithm is applied to find energy and mass of the Fröhlich-Feynman polaron. Our mass is quite different from Feynman's variational approach.

Abstract:A stochastic theory for a branching process in a neutron population with two energy levels is used to assess the applicability of the differential self-interrogation Feynman-alpha method by numerically estimated reaction intensities from Monte Carlo simulations. Abstract:The Dirac APS eta invariant on a Berger sphere of dimension $2n-1$ is discovered, numerically, to coincide, up to spin factors, with the Dirac conformal anomaly on a round sphere of even dimension, $n$. The analytical expression, given in terms of a generalised Bernoulli polynomial, is shown to equal a known conjecture for the eta invariant. Weingart's generating function is also obtained with no extra work.

Abstract:We investigate the three-dimensional O(2) model near the critical point by Monte Carlo simulations and calculate the major universal amplitude ratios of the model. The ratio U_0=A+/A- is determined directly from the specific heat data at zero magnetic field. The data do not, however, allow to extract an accurate estimate for alpha. Instead, we establish a strong correlation of U_0 with the value of alpha used in the fit. This numerical alpha-dependence is given by A+/A- = 1 -4.20(5) alpha + O(alpha^2). For the special alpha-values used in other calculations we find full agreement with the corresponding ratio values, e. g. that of the shuttle experiment with liquid helium. On the critical isochore we obtain the ratio xi+/xi-_T=0.293(9), and on the critical line the ratio xi_T^c/xi_L^c=1.957(10) for the amplitudes of the transverse and longitudinal correlation lengths. These two ratios are independent of the used alpha or nu-values.

Abstract:We study the conformal invariance of inflationary non-Gaussianities associated with scalar fluctuations in a non-Bunch-Davies initial state, known as the $\alpha$-vacuum, in single-field slow-roll inflation. The $\alpha$-vacuum is a one-parameter family of states, including the Bunch-Davies one, that preserves the conformal symmetry of inflationary dynamics in a nearly de-Sitter space-time. Working within the leading slow-roll approximation, we compute the four-point scalar correlator (the trispectrum) in $\alpha$-vacuum using the in-in formalism. We check that the conformal Ward identities are met between the three and four-point scalar $\alpha$-vacua correlators. Surprisingly, this contrasts the previously reported negative result of the Ward identities being violated between the two and the three-point correlators. We have also extended the wave-functional method, previously used for correlators with Bunch-Davies initial condition, to compute the three and four-point scalar correlators in $\alpha$-vacua. The results obtained from the wave-function method match the corresponding in-in results, adding further justification to our check of Ward identities with $\alpha$-vacua correlators.

Abstract:An extensive generalization of the ordinary and quasi-eikonal methods is presented for the $pp$ and $\bar pp$ elastic scattering amplitudes, which takes into account in a phenomenological way all intermediate multiparticle states involving the crossing even and crossing odd combinations of Reggeons. The formalism in this version involves a maximum of three parameters corresponding to the intermediate states which are possible in this configuration. The unitarity restriction is investigated and particular cases are discussed. An interesting result that emerges concerns the Odderon trajectory intercept: we find that unitarity dictates that this quantity {\it must} be below or equal unity unless a very peculiar equality exists between the coupling of the particles to the Pomeron and the Odderon.

Abstract:In this paper we study odd-even staggering of the empirical neutron-proton interaction between the last neutron and the last proton, denoted as delta V1n-1p, and its consequence in the Garvey-Kelson mass relations (GKs) and nuclear mass models. The root-mean-squared deviations of predicted masses respectively for even-A and odd-A nuclei by using two combinatorial GKs suggest a large odd-even staggering of delta V1n-1p between even-odd and odd-even nuclei, while the odd-even difference of delta V1n-1p between even-even and odd-odd nuclei is much smaller. The contribution of the odd-even staggering of delta V1n-1p between even-A and odd-A nuclei in deviations of theoretical delta V1n-1p values of the Duflo-Zuker model and the improved Weizsacker-Skyrme model are well represented by an isospin-dependent term. The consideration of this odd-even staggering improves our description of binding energies and one-neutron separation energies in both the Duflo-Zuker model and the improved Weizsacker-Skyrme model.

Abstract:Recently, the O(alpha) and O(alpha^3 ln(alpha)) radiative corrections to the orthopositronium lifetime have been presented in closed analytical form, in terms of basic irrational numbers that can be evaluated numerically to arbitrary precision [Phys. Rev. Lett. 101, 193401 (2008)]. Here, we present the details of this calculation and reveal the nature of these new constants. We also list explicit transformation formulas for generalized polylogarithms of weight four, which may be useful for other applications.

Abstract:We revisit the chiral properties of nucleon interpolating currents, and show that of the two leading order currents j1 and j2 , only two linear combinations j1±j2 transform covariantly under the anomalous U(1)A symmetry. As a result, calculations of quantities which vanish by symmetry in the chiral limit may produce unphysical results if carried out with different linear combinations of the currents. This includes observables such as electric dipole moments, induced by the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) parameter θ , and the θ -dependence of the nucleon mass. For completeness, we also exhibit the leading order results for nucleon electric dipole moments ( dn,p ) induced by θ , and the nucleon magnetic moments ( μn,p ), when calculated using QCD sum rules for both the covariant choices of the nucleon interpolating current. Observation of Odderon Effects at LHC energies -- A Real Extended Bialas-Bzdak Model Study

Abstract:The unitarily extended Bialas-Bzdak model of elastic proton-proton scattering is applied, without modifications, to describe the differential cross-section of elastic proton-antiproton collisions in the TeV energy range, and to extrapolate these differential cross-sections to LHC energies. In this model-dependent study we find that the differential cross-sections of elastic proton-proton collision data at 2.76 and 7 TeV energies differ significantly from the differential cross-section of elastic proton-antiproton collisions extrapolated to these energies. The elastic proton-proton differential cross-sections, extrapolated to 1.96 TeV energy with the help of this extended Bialas-Bzdak model do not differ significantly from that of elastic proton-antiproton collisions, within the theoretical errors of the extrapolation. Taken together these results provide a model-dependent, but statistically significant evidence for a crossing-odd component of the elastic scattering amplitude at the at least 7.08 sigma level. From the reconstructed Odderon and Pomeron amplitudes, we determine the $\sqrt{s}$ dependence of the corresponding total and differential cross-sections.
