Abstract:We make a re-analysis of I=0 \pi\pi scattering phase shift \delta_0^0 through a new method of S-matrix parametrization (IA; interfering amplitude method), and show a result suggesting strongly for the existence of \sigma-particle -- long-sought Chiral partner of \pi-meson. Furthermore, through the phenomenological analyses of typical production processes of the 2\pi-system, the pp-central collision and the J/\Psi \to \omega\pi\pi decay, by applying an intuitive formula as sum of Breit-Wigner amplitudes, (VMW; variant mass and width method), the other evidences for the \sigma-existence are given. The validity of the methods used in the above analyses is investigated, using a simple field theoretical model, from the general viewpoint of unitarity and the applicability of final state interaction(FSI-) theorem, especially in relation to the ``universality'' argument. It is shown that the IA and VMW are obtained as the physical state representations of scattering and production amplitudes, respectively. The VMW is shown to be an effective method to obtain the resonance properties from production processes, which generally have the unknown strong-phases. The conventional analyses based on the ``universality'' seem to be powerless for this purpose.

Light sigma-Meson Production in Excited Upsilon Decay Processes I: Analyses

Abstract:We analyze the pi pi production amplitudes in the excited Upsilon decay processes, Upsilon(2S)-->Upsilon(1S)pi+pi-, Upsilon(3S)-->Upsilon(1S)pi+pi- and Upsilon(3S)-->Upsilon(2S)pi+pi-, and the pi pi and KKbar production amplitudes in the charmonium decay processes, psi(2S)-->J psi pi+pi- and J psi-->phi pi+pi-, phi K+K-. The amplitudes are parametrized by the sum of Breit-Wigner amplitudes for the sigma and the other relevant particles and of the direct 2pi-production amplitude, following the VMW method. All the pi pi (and KKbar) invariant mass spectra are reproduced well with the sigma Breit-Wigner amplitude by using the common parameters, m_sigma=526^(+48)_(-37) MeV and Gamma_sigma =301^(+145)_(-100) MeV, which is almost consistent with the values obtained in our previous phase shift analyses. This strongly suggests the existence of light sigma-meson.

Abstract:We present a high-statistics measurement of differential cross sections and the total cross section for the process gamma gamma -> pi^0 pi^0 in the kinematic range 0.6 GeV <= W <= 4.0 GeV and |cos theta*| <= 0.8, where W and theta* are the energy and pion scattering angle, respectively, in the gamma gamma center-of-mass system. Differential cross sections are fitted to obtain information on S, D_0, D_2, G_0 and G_2 waves. The G waves are important above W ~= 1.6 GeV. General behavior of partial waves is studied by fitting differential cross sections in a simple parameterization where amplitudes contain resonant contributions and smooth background. The D_2 wave is dominated by the f_2(1270) meson whose parameters are consistent with the with the current world averages. The D_0 wave contains a f_2(1270) component, whose fraction is fitted. For the S wave, the f_0(980) parameters are found to be consistent with the values determined from our recent pi^+ pi^- data. In addition to the f_0(980), the S wave prefers to have another resonance-like contribution whose parameters are obtained.

Abstract:The COMPASS collaboration has collected the currently largest data set on diffractively produced $\pi^-\pi^-\pi^+$ final states using a negative pion beam of 190 GeV/c momentum impinging on a stationary proton target. This data set allows for a systematic partial-wave analysis in 100 bins of three-pion mass, $0.5 < m_{3\pi} < 2.5$ GeV/c$^2$ , and in 11 bins of the reduced four-momentum transfer squared, $0.1 < t < 1.0$ (GeV/c)$^2$ . This two-dimensional analysis offers sensitivity to genuine one-step resonance production, i.e. the production of a state followed by its decay, as well as to more complex dynamical effects in nonresonant $3\pi$ production. In this paper, we present detailed studies on selected $3\pi$ partial waves with $J^{PC} = 0^{-+}$, $1^{++}$, $2^{-+}$, $2^{++}$, and $4^{++}$. In these waves, we observe the well-known ground-state mesons as well as a new narrow axial-vector meson $a_1(1420)$ decaying into $f_0(980) \pi$. In addition, we present the results of a novel method to extract the amplitude of the $\pi^-\pi^+$ subsystem with $I^{G}J^{PC} = 0^+ 0^{++}$ in various partial waves from the $\pi^-\pi^-\pi^+$ data. Evidence is found for correlation of the $f_0(980)$ and $f_0(1500)$ appearing as intermediate $\pi^- \pi^+$ isobars in the decay of the known $\pi(1800)$ and $\pi_2(1880)$.
System Identification and Control using Diagonal Recurrent Neural Networks

Abstract:This paper presents an approach for control and system identification using Diagonal Recurrent Neural Networks (DRNN). An unknown plant is identified by a Diagonal Recurrent Neuroidentifier (DRNI), and provides the sensitivity information of the plant to a Diagonal Recurrent Neurocontroller (DRNC). A dynamic backpropagation (DBP), is developed to train both DRNC and DRNI. The DRNN captures the dynamic nature of a system and since it is not fully connected, training is much faster than a fully connected recurrent neural network. The architecture of DRNN is a modified model of the fully connected recurrent neural network with one hidden layer. The hidden layer is comprised of self-recurrent neurons, each feeding its output only into itself. The dynamic backpropagation algorithm (DBP) is developed to train the recurrent neural networks for dynamic mappings, which are found in applications such as control, speech processing and sequential cognition. The proposed DRNN architecture is applied to numerical problems and the simulation results are included.

Abstract:A partial-wave analysis of the reaction pi(-)p-->pi(+)pi(-)pi(-)p at 18 GeV/c has been performed on a data sample of 250 000 events obtained in the Brookhaven experiment E852. The well-known a(1)(1260), a(2)(1320) and pi(2)(1670) resonant states are observed. The existence of the pi(1800), a(1)(1700) and a(4)(2040) states is confirmed. The a(3)(1874) state is also observed. The exotic 1(-+) pi(1)(1600) state produced in the natural parity exchange process is found to decay in the rho(770)pi(-) channel. A mass-dependent fit results in a resonance mass of 1593+/-8(-47)(+29) MeV/c(2) and a width of 168+/-20(-12)(+150) MeV/c(2).

Abstract:Based on a sample of 7.8 × 10 BESI J/ψ events, the decay of J/ψ → ωππ is studied. A low mass enhancement in the ππ invariant mass spectrum recoiling against ω particle is clearly seen which does not come from the phase space effect and the background. According to PWA analysis, this low mass enhancement is a broad 0 resonance, the σ particle. If a Breit-Winger function of constant width is used to fit the σ signal, its mass and width are 384 ± 66 MeV and 458±100 MeV respectively, which correspond to the pole position at (434 ± 78 ) i (202 ± 43) MeV. Abstract:Using $15.6$ $\rm fb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at twenty-four center-of-mass energies from $4.0$ to $4.6$ GeV with the BESIII detector, the helicity amplitudes of the process $e^+e^-\to \pi^{+}\pi^{-}\omega$ are analyzed for the first time. Born cross section measurements of two-body intermediate resonance states with statistical significance greater than 5$\sigma$ are presented, such as $f_{0}(500)$, $f_{0}(980)$, $f_{2}(1270)$, $f_{0}(1370)$, $b_{1}(1235)^{\pm}$, and $\rho(1450)^{\pm}$. In addition, evidence of a resonance state in $e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-\omega$ production is found. The mass of this state obtained by line shape fitting is about 4.2 GeV/$c^2$, which is consistent with the production of $\psi(4160)$ or $Y(4220)$.

Abstract:In this work, we have investigated the process D s + → K + K − π + , taking into account the contributions from the S-wave pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar interaction within the chiral unitary approach, and also the intermediate ϕ resonance. By analyzing the BESIII and BABAR measurements, we conclude that the f 0 ( 980 ) state, dynamically generated from the S-wave pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar interaction, gives the dominant contribution close to the K + K − threshold in the K + K − invariant mass distribution of the decay D s + → K + K − π + in S-wave. On the other hand, our results imply that the lineshape adopted by BESIII and BABAR for the resonances a 0 ( 980 ) and f 0 ( 980 ) is not advisable in the fit to the data close to the K + K − threshold.

Abstract:Using a data sample of 2.59 x 10^7 psi(2S) decays obtained with the CLEO-c detector, we perform amplitude analyses of the complementary decay chains chi_c1 -> eta pi+ pi- and chi_c1 -> eta' pi+ pi-. We find evidence for a P-wave eta' pi scattering amplitude, which, if interpreted as a resonance, would have exotic J^PC = 1^-+ and parameters consistent with the pi_1(1600) state reported in other production mechanisms. We also make the first observation of the decay a_0(980) -> eta' pi and measure the ratio of branching fractions B(a_0(980) -> eta' pi)/B(a_0(980) -> eta pi) = 0.064 +- 0.014 +- 0.014. The pi pi spectrum produced with a recoiling eta is compared to that with eta' recoil.

Abstract:Based on a sample of 7.8 x 10(6) BESI J/psi events, the decay of J/psi -wpi(+) pi (-) is studied. A low mass enhancement in the pi(+) pi(-) invariant mass spectrum recoiling against omega particle is clearly seen which does not come from the phase space effect and the background. According to PWA analysis, this low mass enhancement is a broad 0(++) resonance, the sigma particle. If a Baeit-Winger function of constant width is used to fit the sigma signal, its mass and width are 384 +/- 66 MeV and 458 +/- 100 MeV respectively, which correspond to the pole position at (434 +/- 78)-i(202 +/- 43) MeV.

Abstract:Based on a sample of $(2712.4\pm14.3)\times10^6\;\psi(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial wave analysis of the decay $\psi(3686)\to\Lambda\bar\Sigma^0\pi^0+c.c.$ is performed to investigate $\Lambda^*$ and $\Sigma^*$ resonances in the $\pi^0\bar{\Sigma}^0$ and $\pi^0\Lambda$ invariant mass distributions. Significant contributions are found from the $\Lambda(1405)$, $\Lambda(1520)$, $\Lambda(1600)$, $\Lambda(1670)$, $\Lambda(1690)$, $\Lambda(1800)$, $\Lambda(1890)$, $\Lambda(2325)$, $\Sigma(1385)$, $\Sigma(1660)$, $\Sigma(1670)$, $\Sigma(1750)$, and $\Sigma(1910)$. The masses, widths, and production branching fractions for each component are determined. In addition, the branching fraction of $\psi(3686)\to\Lambda\bar\Sigma^0\pi^0+c.c.$ is measured to be $(1.544\pm0.013\pm0.069)\times10^{-4}$ for the first time, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

Abstract:The production of the sigma (σ) meson is investigated in the quantum molecular dynamics model for the p+A reactions with the nuclei A being 12 C , 40 Ca and 208 Pb at the incident proton energies Ep = 1.50 GeV . The simulation results indicates a distinctive A dependence of the sigma production, that is, the increase of A is followed by an increase of the production cross-sections. The σ meson production in proton induced reactions is strongly medium-dependent, and the produced σ mesons decaying in a denser medium experience a stronger mass shift towards lower masses. This mass shift is an experimentally accessible observable in the final state pion pairs which did not suffer reabsorption by the surrounding nucleons. It is pointed out that the ratio of the simulation results of measurable σ mesons (in the form of two pions) cross-sections as a function of the sigma invariant-mass from various reactions opens the possibility to address experimentally the mass shift of the σ in a dense nuclear environment.

Abstract:The reaction pi(-)p --> omegapi(-)p, omega --> pi(+)pi(-)pi(0) has been studied at 18 GeV/c. The omegapi(-) mass spectrum is found to be dominated by the b(1) (1235). Abstract:Ten resonances were found in the mass spectrum of pi+pi- -system from the reaction np->nppi+pi- in np-interactions at Pn=5.20 GeV/c in the 1-m HBC of LHE JINR by using the criterion cos(teta)[c.m.c.] p>0. Such effects were not found in pi-pi0 - combinations from the reaction np->pppi-pi0. Therefore, it is necessary to attribute the value of isotopic spin I = 0 to the resonances found in the mass spectrum of the pi+pi- -system. The spin was estimated for the most statistically provided resonances. We determine with a high degree of confidence that J = 0 for the resonances at MR = 757 MeV/c^2 and MR = 418 MeV/c^2. Therefore, it can be affirmed that at least 3 states with quantum numbers of sigma0-meson 0+(0++) have been found at masses of 418, 511 and 757 MeV/c^2. The fact low-mass sigma0-mesons are glueballs is one of the possible interpretations. The comparison with the data of other papers has also been made. The investigation has been performed at the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energies,JINR.

Production potential of hidden-strange molecular pentaquarks through the $π^-p\rightarrow K^{*}Σ$ process

Abstract:In this study, applying the effective Lagrangian approach, we investigate the reaction $\pi^-p\rightarrow K^{*}\Sigma$ to explore the production of the hidden-strange molecular pentaquarks $P_{s\bar{s}}$. Specifically, we analyze two scenarios, where the $J^P$ quantum numbers of $P_{s\bar{s}}$ are $3/2^-$ and $1/2^-$. Our results show that the contribution from $s$-channel $P_{s\bar{s}}$ exchange dominates the total cross section, surpassing those from $t$-channel $K^{(*)}$ exchange and $u$-channel $\Sigma$ exchange. Additionally, we present predictions for the differential cross section of the $\pi^-p\rightarrow K^{*}\Sigma$ process. Finally, we extend the 2-to-2 scattering process to the 2-to-3 Dalitz process and provide theoretical predictions for this scenario. Our findings suggest that the cross section for the $\pi^-p \rightarrow K^{*}\Sigma\rightarrow K^+\pi^-\Sigma^0$ process can reach several tens of $\mu b$ near the threshold, making it highly favorable for experimental measurement. However, the current scarcity of experimental data for the $\pi^-p\rightarrow K^{*}\Sigma$ reaction at threshold energy limits our ability to determine the properties of the hidden-strange molecular pentaquarks $P_{s\bar{s}}$ and related physical quantities. Therefore, additional experimental measurements of the $\pi^-p \rightarrow K^{*}\Sigma$ reaction at threshold are strongly encouraged, and correlation studies could be pursued at facilities such as J-PARC, AMBER, and upcoming HIKE and HIAF meson beam experiments.

Abstract:In this work, we report the Carrier-Envelope Phase Effects on the Spatial Coherence of High-order Harmonics driven by phase-stabilized few-cycle mid-infrared laser pulses. The degree of coherence varies with carrier-envelope phase periodically with a period of π. At the same time, as the harmonic orders increase, the extreme points on the curve of coherence degree vs. carrier-envelope phase shift toward the direction of carrier-envelope phase increasing. Through theoretical analysis, we find that the ionization induced frequency chirp plays an important role in the Carrier-Envelope Phase Effects on the Spatial Coherence. This effect suggests a possible method to optimize the spatial coherence of harmonics by tuning the carrier-envelope phase of the driving field.

Abstract:In e(+)e(-) collisions recorded using the CLEO II.V detector we have studied the Cabibbo suppressed decay of D-0 ->pi(+)pi(-)pi(0) with the initial flavor of the D-0 tagged by the decay D*+-> D-0 pi(+). We use the Dalitz-plot analysis technique to measure the resonant substructure in this final state and observe rho pi and nonresonant contributions by fitting for their amplitudes and relative phases. We describe the pi pi S wave with a K-matrix formalism and limit this contribution to the rate to be < 2.5%@95% confidence level, in contrast to the large rate observed in D+->pi(+)pi(-)pi(+) decay. Using the amplitudes and phases from this analysis, we calculate an integrated CP asymmetry of 0.01(-0.07)(+0.09)+/- 0.05.
