Abstract:The current status of the experimental measurements and theoretical predictions of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon $a_\mu$ is briefly reviewed. The emphasis is put on the evaluation of the hadronic contribution to $a_\mu$ as it has the largest uncertainty among all Standard Model contributions. The precision of the hadronic contribution is driven by the input e+e- data predominantly from the \pi+pi- channel. Including the latest experimental data on e+e- annihilation into hadronsfrom CMD2 and SND for the \pi+\pi- channel and BaBar for multihadron final states, the updated Standard Model prediction disagrees with the measurement dominated by BNL by 3.3 standard deviations, with the theoretical precision exceeding the experimental one.

Abstract:This is a review of electroweak precision physics with particular emphasis on low-energy precision measurements in the neutral current sector of the electroweak theory and includes future experimental prospects and the theoretical challenges one faces to interpret these observables. Within the minimal Standard Model they serve as determinations of the weak mixing angle which are competitive with and complementary to those obtained near the Z-resonance. In the context of new physics beyond the Standard Model these measurements are crucial to discriminate between models and to reduce the allowed parameter space within a given model. We illustrate this for the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model with or without R-parity.

Abstract:In this review, we summarize tests of standard electroweak (EW) theory at the highest available energies as a precursor to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) era. Our primary focus is on the published results (as of March 2010) from proton- antiproton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collected using the CDF and D0 detectors. This review is very timely since the LHC scientific program is nearly underway with the first high-energy ($\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV) collisions about to begin. After presenting an overview of the EW sector of the standard model, we provide a summary of current experimental tests of EW theory. These include gauge boson properties and self-couplings, tests of EW physics from top quark sector, and searches for the Higgs boson.

Abstract:The super-weak force is a minimal, anomaly-free U(1) extension of the standard model, designed to explain the origin of (i) neutrino masses and mixing matrix elements, (ii) dark matter, (iii) cosmic inflation, (iv) stabilization of the electroweak vacuum and (v) leptogenesis. In this talk we discuss the phenomenological status of the model and provide viable scenarios for the physics of the items in this list.

Abstract:In these lectures we give an introduction and overview of the electroweak standard model (EWSM) of particle physics. We first introduce the basic concepts of quantum field theory necessary to build the EWSM: abelian and non-abelian gauge theories, spontaneous symmetry breaking and the Higgs mechanism. We also introduce some basic concepts of renormalization, so as to be able to understand the full power of electroweak precision tests and their impact on our understanding the EWSM and its possible extensions. We discuss the current status of experimental tests and conclude by pointing the problems still existing in particle physics not solved by the EWSM and how these impact the future of the field.

Abstract:We review recent theoretical progress in the computation of radiative corrections beyond one loop within the standard model of electroweak interactions, both in the gauge and Higgs sectors. In the gauge sector, we discuss universal corrections of $Ø(G_F^2M_H^2M_W^2)$, $Ø(G_F^2m_t^4)$, $Ø(\alpha_sG_FM_W^2)$, and those due to virtual $t\bar t$ threshold effects, as well as specific corrections to $\Gamma\left(Z\to b\bar b\right)$ of $Ø(G_F^2m_t^4)$, $Ø(\alpha_sG_Fm_t^2)$, and $Ø(\alpha_s^3)$ including finite-$m_b$ effects. We also present an update of the hadronic contributions to $\Delta\alpha$. Theoretical uncertainties, other than those due to the lack of knowledge of $M_H$ and $m_t$, are estimated. In the Higgs sector, we concentrate on $\Gamma\left(H\to f\bar f\,\right)$ and consider in $Ø(\alpha_sG_Fm_t^2)$ the universal corrections and those which are specific for the $\scriptstyle b\bar b$ mode, as well as $Ø(\alpha_s^2)$ corrections in the $q\bar q$ channels including the finite-$m_q$ terms.

Abstract:Abstract The new experiment data of muon g − 2 is reported by the workers at Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL). Combined with the previous Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) E821 result, the departure from the standard model prediction is about 4.2σ. It strengthens our faith in the new physics. U(1)XSSM is the U(1) extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model, where we study the electroweak corrections to the anomalous magnetic dipole moment of muon from the one-loop diagrams and some two-loop diagrams possessing important contributions. These two-loop diagrams include Barr-Zee type, rainbow type and diamond type. The virtual supersymmetric particles in these two-loop diagrams are chargino, scalar neutrino, neutralino, scalar lepton, which are supposed not very heavy to make relatively large corrections. We obtain the Wilson coefficients of the dimension 6 operators inducing the anomalous magnetic dipole moment of muon. The numerical results can reach 25 × 10−10 and even larger.

Abstract:During the last few years, new experimental and theoretical results have allowed ever more stringent tests of the Standard Model to be performed using kaon decays. This overview of recent progress includes an updated evaluation of the CKM matrix element Vus. Tests of CKM unitarity and gauge universality and lepton universality tests with Kl2 and Kl3 decays are discussed.

Abstract:I review the status of lattice QCD calculations of the hadronic contributions to the muon's anomalous magnetic moment, focussing on the hadronic vacuum polarisation contribution which dominates the uncertainty of the Standard Model prediction.This quantity exhibits a tension between recent lattice QCD results and the traditional data-driven dispersive method. I discuss the implications for the running of the electromagnetic coupling and the consistency of global fits using electroweak precision data.

Abstract:The status of the Standard Model (SM) is reviewed. We emphazize the fact that in spite of the success of the SM for the descrition of the fermionic sector, the status of the bosonic sector (gauge and scalar) suffers from many theoretical deficiencies and from the lack of empirical support. This situation, which leaves room for several types of extensions or alternatives to SM, strongly motivates the pursue of intense efforts for finding hints of New Physics (NP) effects. We present a phenomenological description valid for energies lying below the NP scale. We discuss the indirect constraints established from high precision tests at LEP1, as well as the direct tests that could be performed at future machines

Abstract:We critically analyze the body of results that hints to the existence of New Physics from possible violations of lepton universality observed by the LHCb experiment in the μ/e ratios R K and to the g − 2 lepton anomalies. The analysis begins with a theoretical, in depth, study of the μ/e ratios R K and as well as the process B s → μ + μ − . Here we consider the impact of complex Wilson coefficients and derive constraints on their imaginary and real parts. We then move to a comprehensive comparison with experimental results. We show that, by fitting a single Wilson coefficient, the deviations from the Standard Model are at the 47 σ level when including only the hadronic insensitive observables while it increases to 61 σ when including also the hadronic sensitive ones. When switching on all relevant Wilson coefficients and combining both hadronic sensitive and insensitive data into the fit, the deviation from the Standard Model peaks at 72 σ and decreases at the 49 σ level if we assume that the central values of R K and are taken to be unity. We further estimate other unaccounted for SM contributions and show that their inclusion still requires New Physics to fit the data. We then introduce the g − 2 lepton anomalies as well as the most recent W -mass results. Different theoretical models are considered that can explain the discrepancies from the Standard Model. In the final part of our work we estimate the impact of the forthcoming data from LHCb (coming from LHC Run3) and Belle II, when it will have accumulated about 5 ab − 1 .

Abstract:For many decades, the main source of information on the top-left corner element of the Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa quark mixing matrix, V ud , was superallowed nuclear β decays with an impressive 0.01% precision. This precision, apart from experimental data, relies on theoretical calculations in which nuclear structure–dependent effects and uncertainties play a prime role. This review is dedicated to a thorough reassessment of all ingredients that enter the extraction of the value of V ud from experimental data. We try to keep balance between historical retrospect and new developments, many of which occurred in just the past 5 years. They have not yet been reviewed in a complete manner, not least because new results are forthcoming. This review aims to fill this gap and offers an in-depth yet accessible summary of all recent developments.

Abstract:Combining the multilepton searches at the LHC, we study the possibilities of accommodating the new data of muon and electron g - 2 anomalies in the lepton-specific inert two-Higgs-doublet model. We take the heavy CP-even Higgs as the 125 GeV Higgs, and find the muon and electron g - 2 anomalies can be explained simultaneously in the region of 5 GeV < mh < 60 GeV, 200 GeV < mA < 620 GeV, 190 GeV < mH +/- < 620 GeV for appropriate Yukawa couplings between leptons and inert Higgs. Meanwhile, the model can give a better fit to the data of lepton universality in z decays than the SM. Further, the multilepton event searches at the LHC impose a stringent upper bound on mh, mh < 35 GeV.

Abstract:In this talk, prospects for the charged Higgs in non-SUSY models are reviewed, in view of LHC results (as of October, 2012). The four models (Type I, Type II, lepton-specific and flipped) without tree level flavor-changing neutral currents are discussed. Updates for the case in which the charged Higgs is lighter than the top, leading to production in top decays, are presented along with expectations for the future. If the charged Higgs is heavier than the top quark, detection may be possible through the tau-nu decay mode. In addition, it is pointed out that the decay of the charged Higgs into W h, where h is the 125 GeV state, may be dominant. Charged Higgs phenomenology in models which do contain tree level flavor-changing neutral currents, as well as the inert doublet model and others, are also briefly reviewed.
