Abstract:Suppose that $q$ is a prime power such that $q\equiv~2\pmod{3}$. By using Kantor's model of $Q^+(7,q)$, we study the orbit structure of the action of $\textup{PSU}_3(q)$ on the polar space $Q^+(7,q)$ and obtain new $(q^2+q)$- and $q^3$-ovoids with an automorphism group $\textup{PSU}_3(q)$. In this way, we determine all $\textup{PSU}_3(q)$-invariant intriguing sets of $Q^+(7,q)$. It turns out that such an intriguing set is either the unitary ovoid, one of the two new $m$-ovoids, or their complements.

Abstract:An explicit realization of the W(2,2) Lie algebra is presented using the famous bosonic and fermionic oscillators in physics, which is then used to construct the q-deformation of this Lie algebra. Abstract:In this paper, we consider a system of the q-deformed bosonic Tamm-Dancoff oscillators, whose spectrum has some exponential cutoff factors at high energies. We first investigate the q-calculus in the Tamm-Dancoff (TD) boson algebra, and within this framework, the q-derivative, q-integral and q-exponential function are introduced. Using these properties, we construct a new formalism for the q-deformed quantum mechanics, which accordingly involve the q-adjoint operator and the q-Hermitian operator properties. We then derive the q-deformed Heisenberg relation, and develop the q-Hermitian momentum operator. The q-deformed Schrödinger equation is introduced, and as applications, we study the momentum eigenfunction and one-dimensional box problem. Another application of the TD type deformation onto lattice oscillations is also discussed through a model of the q-deformed Debye solid. Finally, other potential applications of the TD-oscillators gas model are concisely pointed out.

Abstract:On a one-dimensional lattice without uniform interval, the Hermitian conjugation of a q-differential operator is discussed. Then a deformation of quantum mechanics in one dimension is presented. As an application, the harmonic oscillator is discussed. The energy spectrum and the eigenfunctions are shown to depend on an arbitrary deformation function. The deformed coherent states are also discussed. It is found that the completeness relation of coherent states holds for the case of q-coherent states, i.e. the deformation of the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra is a q-analogue Hopf algebra.

Abstract:The q-deformed differential calculus is proposed and analysed in the framework of quantum plane. The q-deformed differential operator algebra is investigated and applied in the investigation of the quantum group SUq(2) and its representations. The generalization to n-dimensional differential calculus is made and shown to be a new solution to quantum plane by providing a new solution of the Yang-Baxter equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we adopt q -deformed binary operations, such as q -addition, q -subtraction, q -multiplication, and q -division, to construct the q -deformed Schrödinger equation in one dimension. We explore the mathematics involving q -deformed binary operations. We q -deform the ordinary commutator and the definition of Fock space in q -deformed quantum mechanics. As examples, we discuss the particle in a box and the harmonic oscillator.

Abstract:In this paper, from the $q$-gauge covariant condition we define the $q$-deformed Killing form and the second $q$-deformed Chern class for the quantum group $SU_{q}(2)$. Developing Zumino's method we introduce a $q$-deformed homotopy operator to compute the $q$-deformed Chern-Simons and the $q$-deformed cocycle hierarchy. Some recursive relations related to the generalized $q$-deformed Killing forms are derived to prove the cocycle hierarchy formulas directly. At last, we construct the $q$-gauge covariant Lagrangian and derive the $q$-deformed Yang-Mills equation. We find that the components of the singlet and the adjoint representation are separated in the $q$-deformed Chern class, $q$-deformed cocycle hierarchy and the $q$-deformed Lagrangian, although they are mixed in the commutative relations of BRST algebra.

Abstract:We consider the processes $g\to W{+}\,q'$ and $q\to Z{+}\,q$ and derive the respective splitting functions as functions of two kinematic variables: the longitudinal momentum fraction $z$ and transverse momentum $p_T$ of the produced bosons with respect to the parent quark. We take into account kinematic (phase space) restrictions connected with nonzero masses of the gauge bosons and with limited initial energy. We separately consider three different polarization states of the bosons.

Abstract:The authors introduce a pair of canonical-conjugate q-deformed operators D, X and discuss the relations between the deformed operators D, X and q-series. The realizations of some Lie symmetries, Heisenberg and quantum Heisenberg algebras are given for the operators D and X. They show that the q-analogous Hermite polynomials are representations of Heisenberg and quantum Heisenberg algebras realized in this way. When q is a root of unity, the properties of the q-analogous Hermite polynomials are also discussed.

Abstract:The recent notion of $q$-deformed irrational numbers is characterized by the invariance with respect to the action of the modular group $\PSL(2,\Z)$, or equivalently under the Burau representation of the braid group~$B_3$. The theory of $q$-deformed quadratic irrationals and quadratic equations with integer coefficients is known and entirely based on this invariance. In this paper, we consider the case of cubic irrationals. We show that irreducible cubic equations with three distinct real roots and cyclic Galois group~$C_3$ (or $\Z/3\Z$) acting by a third order element of $\PSL(2,\Z)$, have a canonical $q$-deformation, that we describe. This class of cubic equations contains well-known examples including the equations that describe regular $7$- and $9$-gons.

Abstract:The torque felt by a non-accreting protoplanet on a circular orbit embedded in a uniform surface density protoplanetary disk is analyzed by means of time-dependent numerical simulations. Varying the viscosity enables one to disentangle the Lindblad torque (which is independent of viscosity) from the corotation torque, which saturates at low viscosity and is unsaturated at high viscosity. The dependence of the corotation torque upon the viscosity and upon the width of the librating zone is compared with previous analytical expressions, and shown to be in agreement with those. The effect of the potential smoothing respectively on the Lindblad torque and on the corotation torque is investigated, and the question of whether 3D effects and their impact on the total torque sign and magnitude can be modeled by an adequate smoothing prescription in a 2D simulation is addressed. As a side result, this study shows that the total torque acting on a Neptune-sized protoplanet is positive in a sufficiently thin, viscous disk (H/r < 4%, \alpha > 10^-2), but the inward migration time of smaller bodies is still very short, making it unlikely that they reach the torque reversal mass before having migrated all the way to the central object.

Abstract:We use the idea of partial Gauss decomposition to study structures related to U-q(g<(l(n-1)over cap>)) inside U-q(<(gl(n))over cap>). This gives a description of Uq(<(gl(n))over cap>) as an extension of U-q(g<(l(n-1)over cap>)) with Zamolodchikov algebras. We describe the connection of this new realization with form factors.

Abstract:We introduce a $q$-deformation that generalises in a single framework previous works on classical and enriched $P$-partitions. In particular, we build a new family of power series with a parameter $q$ that interpolates between Gessel's fundamental ($q=0$) and Stembridge's peak quasisymmetric functions ($q=1$) and show that it is a basis of $\QSym$ when $q\notin\{-1,1\}$. Furthermore we build their corresponding monomial bases parametrised with $q$ that cover our previous work on enriched monomials and the essential quasisymmetric functions of Hoffman.
