Abstract:We show that holomorphic bundles on O(-k) for k > 0 are algebraic. We also show holomorphic bundles on O(-1) are trivial outside the zero section.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Nakano-positivity and dual-Nakano-positivity of certain adjoint vector bundles associated to ample vector bundles. As applications, we get new vanishing theorems about ample vector bundles. For example, we prove that if $E$ is an ample vector bundle over a compact K\"ahler manifold $X$, $S^kE\ts \det E$ is both Nakano-positive and dual-Nakano-positive for any $k\geq 0$. Moreover, $H^{n,q}(X,S^kE\ts \det E)=H^{q,n}(X,S^kE\ts \det E)=0$ for any $q\geq 1$. In particular, if $(E,h)$ is a Griffiths-positive vector bundle, the naturally induced Hermitian vector bundle $(S^kE\ts \det E, S^kh\ts \det h)$ is both Nakano-positive and dual-Nakano-positive for any $k\geq 0$.

Abstract:In extension of our previous study of KNbO_3 by the semiempirical Hartree-Fock method we present parameterization and total-energy results for non-ferroelectric KTaO_3 as a pure crystal (concentrating on the frozen phonon calculations) and that with Li impurities. The magnitudes of off-center Li displacements and the relaxation energies related to re-orientation of Li are calculated and compared with experimental estimates and earlier calculation results. The spatial extent of lattice relaxation around Li impurities and contributions from different neighbors to the relaxation energy are discussed.

Abstract:We study the classification of affine holomorphic bundles over a compact complex manifold $X$ in general, and we apply the general theory to the case $X=\mathbb{P}^1_\mathbb{C}$. We study the moduli space of framed, non-degenerate rank 2 affine bundles over $\mathbb{P}^1_\mathbb{C}$ whose linearisation, viewed as locally free sheaf, is isomorphic to $ {\mathcal O}_{\mathbb{P}^1_\mathbb{C}}(n_1)\oplus {\mathcal O}_{\mathbb{P}^1_\mathbb{C}}(n_2)$ where $n_1>n_2$. We show that this moduli space can be identified with the "topological cokernel" of a morphism of linear spaces over the projective space $\mathbb{P}(\mathbb{C}[X_0,X_1]_{l})$ of binary forms of degree $l:= -2-n_2$, in particular it fibres over this projective space with vector spaces as fibres. We show that the stratification of $\mathbb{P}(\mathbb{C}[X_0,X_1]_{l})$ defined by the level sets of the fibre dimension map is determined explicitly by $d:= n_1-n_2$ and the cactus rank stratification of $\mathbb{P}(\mathbb{C}[X_0,X_1]_{l})$.

Oka tubes in holomorphic line bundles

Abstract:Let $(E,h)$ be a semipositive hermitian holomorphic line bundle on a compact complex manifold $X$ with $\dim X>1$. Assume that for each point $x\in X$ there exists a divisor $D\in |E|$ in the complete linear system determined by $E$ whose complement $X\setminus D$ is a Stein neighbourhood of $x$ with the density property. Then, the disc bundle $\Delta_h(E)=\{e\in E:|e|_h<1\}$ is an Oka manifold while $D_h(E)=\{e\in E:|e|_h>1\}$ is a Kobayashi hyperbolic domain. In particular, the zero section of $E$ admits a basis of Oka neighbourhoods $\{|e|_h<c\}$ with $c>0$. We show that this holds if $X$ is a rational homogeneous manifold of dimension $>1$. This class of manifolds includes complex projective spaces, Grassmannians, and flag manifolds. This phenomenon contributes to the heuristic principle that Oka properties are related to metric positivity of complex manifolds.

Abstract:We show that a compact Kahler manifold with nonpositive holomorphic sectional curvature has nef canonical bundle. If the holomorphic sectional curvature is negative then it follows that the canonical bundle is ample, confirming a conjecture of Yau. A key ingredient is the recent solution of this conjecture in the projective case by Wu-Yau.

Abstract:Given a totally real algebraic number field k of degree s , we consider locally symmetric spaces X G / őď associated with arithmetic subgroups őď of the special linear algebraic k -group G = SL M 2 ‚ĀĘ ( D ) , attached to a quaternion division k -algebra D . The group G is k -simple, of k -rank one, and non-split over k . Using reduction theory, one can construct an open subset Y őď ‚äā X G / őď such that its closure Y ¬Į őď is a compact manifold with boundary ‚ąā ‚Ā° Y ¬Į őď , and the inclusion Y ¬Į őď ‚Üí X G / őď is a homotopy equivalence. The connected components Y [ P ] of the boundary ‚ąā ‚Ā° Y ¬Į őď are in one-to-one correspondence with the finite set of őď-conjugacy classes of minimal parabolic k -subgroups of G . We show that each boundary component carries the natural structure of a torus bundle. Firstly, if the quaternion division k -algebra D is totally definite, that is, D ramifies at all archimedean places of k , we prove that the basis of this bundle is homeomorphic to the torus T s - 1 of dimension s - 1 , has the compact fibre T 4 ‚ĀĘ s , and its structure group is SL 4 ‚ĀĘ s ‚ĀĘ ( ‚Ą§ ) . We determine the cohomology of Y [ P ] . Secondly, if the quaternion division k -algebra D is indefinite, thus, there exists at least one archimedean place v ‚ąą V k , ‚ąě at which D v splits over ‚ĄĚ , that is, D v ‚ČÖ M 2 ‚ĀĘ ( ‚ĄĚ ) , the fibre is homeomorphic to T 4 ‚ĀĘ s , but the base space of the bundle is more complicated.

Frobenius pull-back of parabolic bundles and dormant opers

Abstract:We study parabolic bundles on an algebraic curve in positive characteristic. Our motivation is to properly formulate Frobenius pull-backs of parabolic bundles in a way that extends various previous facts and arguments for the usual non-parabolic Frobenius pull-backs. After defining that operation, we generalize a classical result by Cartier concerning Frobenius descent, that is, we establish a bijective correspondence (including the version using higher-level $\mathcal{D}$-modules) between parabolic flat bundles with vanishing $p$-curvature on a pointed curve and parabolic bundles on its Frobenius twist. This correspondence gives a description of maximally Frobenius-destabilized parabolic bundles in terms of dormant opers admitting logarithmic poles. As an application of that description together with a previous result in the enumerative geometry of dormant opers, we obtain an explicit formula for computing the number of such parabolic bundles of rank $2$ under certain assumptions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Higgs and co-Higgs bundles on non-Kähler elliptic surfaces. We show, in particular, that non-trivial stable Higgs bundles only exist when the base of the elliptic fibration has genus at least two and use this existence result to give explicit topological conditions ensuring the smoothness of moduli spaces of stable rank-2 sheaves on such surfaces. We also show that non-trivial stable co-Higgs bundles only exist when the base of the elliptic fibration has genus 0, in which case the non-Kähler elliptic surface is a Hopf surface. We then given a complete description of non-trivial co-Higgs bundles in the rank 2 case; these non-trivial rank-2 co-Higgs bundles are examples of non-trivial holomorphic Poisson structures on $\mathbb{P}^1$-bundles over Hopf surfaces.

Abstract:Matrix-valued holomorphic quantum modular forms are intricate objects that arise in successive refinements of the Volume Conjecture of knots and involve three holomorphic, asymptotic and arithmetic objects. It is expected that the algebraic properties of these objects can be deduced from the algebraic properties of descendant state integrals, and we illustrate this for the case of the $(-2,3,7)$-pretzel knot.

Abstract:For a foliation $\F$ defined on a smooth complex manifold $M$ we introduce the category of vertex operator algebra $V$ bundles with sections provided by vectors of elements of the space of algebraically extended $V$-module $W$-valued differentials. An intrinsic coordinate-independent formulation for such bundles is given. Finally, we identify the cohomology of the spaces of sections for a vertex operator algebra $V$ bundle with vertex operator algebra cohomology of the holonomy groupoid $Hol(M, \F)$.

Abstract:We prove that the existence of a $Z$-positive and $Z$-critical Hermitian metric on a rank 2 holomorphic vector bundle over a compact Kähler surface implies that the bundle is $Z$-stable. As particular cases, we obtain stability results for the deformed Hermitian Yang-Mills equation and the almost Hermite-Einstein equation for rank 2 bundles over surfaces. We show examples of $Z$-unstable bundles and $Z$-critical metrics away from the large volume limit.

Abstract:Abstract We exhibit examples of slope-stable and modular vector bundles on a hyperkähler manifold of K3$^{[2]}$-type, which move in a 20-dimensional family and study their algebraic properties. These are obtained by performing standard linear algebra constructions on the examples studied by O’Grady of (rigid) modular bundles on the Fano varieties of lines of a general cubic four-fold and the Debarre–Voisin hyperkähler manifold.

Abstract:We study complex solvmanifolds $\Gamma\backslash G$ with holomorphically trivial canonical bundle. We show that the trivializing section of this bundle can be either invariant or non-invariant by the action of $G$. First we characterize the existence of invariant trivializing sections in terms of the Koszul 1-form $\psi$ canonically associated to $(\mathfrak{g},J)$, where $\mathfrak{g}$ is the Lie algebra of $G$, and we use this characterization to produce new examples of complex solvmanifolds with trivial canonical bundle. Moreover, we provide an algebraic obstruction, also in terms of $\psi$, for a complex solvmanifold to have trivial (or more generally holomorphically torsion) canonical bundle. Finally, we exhibit a compact hypercomplex solvmanifold $(M^{4n},\{J_1,J_2,J_3\})$ such that the canonical bundle of $(M,J_{\alpha})$ is trivial only for $\alpha=1$, so that $M$ is not an $\operatorname{SL}(n,\mathbb{H})$-manifold.

Abstract:A sufficient condition,under which a(Z_2)~k-vector bundle over a smooth closed manifold is equivariantly cobordant to zero,is obtained.(Φ,η~n,M~m) denotes the action,the vector bundle and the manifold,respectively. The main result is stated as follows:if(1) all Stiefel-Whitney classes of the tangent bundle to each connected component of the fixed point set F vanish in positive dimension;(2) dim M~m2~k dim F;(3) each p-dimensional part F~p of the fixed point set possesses the linear independence property,then(Φ,η~n,M~m) is equivariantly cobordant to zero.Furthermore,an example is given to show that when dim M~m = 2~k dim F and other two conditions are still satisfied,the vector bundle still may be not equivariantly cobordant to zero.In this case the vector bundle is cobordant to zero if and only if the vector bundle is equivariantly cobordant to zero.

Abstract:We consider the ${\mathbb Z}^n$-graded algebra of global sections of line bundles generated by the standard line bundles $L_1,\ldots,L_n$ on $\bar{M}_{0,n}$. We find a simple presentation of this algebra by generators and quadratic relations. As an application we prove that the moduli space $\bar{M}_{0,n}[\psi]$ of $\psi$-stable curves of genus $0$ is Cohen-Macaulay and normal, and the natural map $\bar{M}_{0,n}\to \bar{M}_{0,n}[\psi]$ is a rational resolution.

Abstract:We prove that any holomorphic vector bundle admitting a holomorphic connection, over a compact Kähler Calabi-Yau manifold, also admits a flat holomorphic connection. This addresses a particular case of a question asked by Atiyah and generalizes a result previously obtained in \cite{BD} for simply connected compact Kähler Calabi-Yau manifolds. We give some applications of it in the framework of Cartan geometries and foliated Cartan geometries on Kähler Calabi-Yau manifolds.
