Abstract:We analyse CP-violating effects in Z \to 4 jet decays, assuming the presence of CP-violating effective $Z b \bar{b} G$ and $Z b \bar{b} G G$ couplings. We discuss the influence of these couplings on the decay width. Furthermore, we propose various strategies of a direct search for such CP-violating couplings by using different CP-odd observables. The present data of LEP 1 should give significant information on the couplings.

Abstract:A detailed, model-independent study of CP violation at present and future electron-positron colliders is reported. Firstly, we investigate CP violation effects in $W$ boson and $t$ quark pair production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation and in two-photon fusion at a next $e^+e^-$ linear collider, where Compton-backscattered laser light off the electrons or positrons are employed as a powerful polarized photon source. Secondly, noting that there do not exist any direct measurements for the tau-lepton electric dipole moment (EDM), we address the importance of performing its direct measurements at $e^+e^-$ collisions off the Z-boson pole at TRISTAN, LEPII and CLEOII. We present a rough comparison of the potential of these experiments in the $\tau$ EDM measurements. Finally, we report on our recent works for probing CP violation in the semileptonic decays of the tau lepton, which involve two different intermediate resonances with large ratios of widths to masses, and which can be most efficiently identified at the planned $B$ and proposed $\tau$-charm factories. All the CP-violation phenomena in the processes under consideration, if discovered, imply new CP-violation mechanisms completely different from the Standard Model CP violation mechanism through the complex phase of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix.

Abstract:The CP violating effects in partial - decay - rate asymmetries of the Bd 0 and Bs 0 systems are reestimated with the method of amplitude ratio. We concentrate on those hadronic final states which are CP eigenstates. We find that for testing CP violations, except the well known Bd 0 �� Ks, the best decay is Bd 0 �� D+D-, which needs, for 3�� signature, 2.2 �� 107 bb? pairs.

Abstract:We explore the phenomenology of Weinberg's $Z_2\times Z_2$ symmetric three-Higgs-doublet potential, allowing for spontaneous violation of CP due to complex vacuum expectation values. An overview of all possible ways of satisfying the stationary-point conditions is given, with one, two or three non-vanishing vacuum expectation values, together with conditions for CP conservation in terms of basis invariants. All possible ways of satisfying the conditions for CP conservation are given. Scans of allowed parameter regions are given, together with measures of CP violation, in terms of the invariants. The light states identified in an earlier paper are further explored in terms of their CP-violating couplings. Loop-induced CP violation in $WWZ$ couplings, as well as charge-asymmetric scattering are also commented on.

Abstract:Observations in astronomy suggest that our Universe contains an abundance of matter over antimatter, which can only be explained if the combined CP symmetry is violated. Studies of CP violation have driven the flavor physics with the aim of testing the Standard Model of particle physics and searching for physics beyond it. CP violation is discovered in strange, beauty, and charm meson systems; however, no conclusive sign of CP violation in baryon decays has been observed yet. This review summarizes CP violation studies performed by the LHCb experiment in charmless decays and rare decays of beauty baryons and singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays of charm baryons. A brief on prospects for future LHCb measurements is also discussed.

With the help of a refined Higgs momentum reconstruction from the recoiling system and the impact parameters, high precision in the determination of the momentum of neutrinos can be achieved. The prospect of measuring the Higgs CP mixing angle with the $h\rightarrow \tau \tau $ decay at $e^+e^-$ colliders is studied with the new method. The analysis is based on a detailed detector simulation of the signal and backgrounds. The fully reconstructed neutrinos and also other visible products from the tau decay are used to build matrix element (ME)-based CP observables. With 5 $ab^{-1}$ of data at $E_{\text {CM}}=250$ GeV, a precision of $2.9^\circ $ can be achieved for the CP mixing angle with three main one-prong decay modes of the taus. The precision is found to be about 35% better than the other methods.

Abstract:We investigate the phenomenon of CP violation in the weak decay of bottom hadrons (B mesons) through comprehensive theoretical analysis and mathematical derivations. We analyze the fundamental mechanisms of B meson decay, emphasizing the interplay between CP symmetry breaking and the contributions from the quark level. By examining the role of the weak Hamiltonian, we reveal the significance of both short-range and long-range interactions in the decay process. Our theoretical framework highlights the close relationship between differential decay distributions and CP violation, providing a robust foundation for understanding CP violation phenomena in B meson decays. We discuss the implications of our findings for future research, particularly the necessity of improving the precision of CP violation measurements to validate existing theoretical models and explore potential new physics. Through a combination of mathematical derivations and theoretical insights, this study aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the matter-antimatter asymmetry problem in particle physics.

Abstract:We study the Lorentz and CPT violating effects on the branching ratio BR, the CPT violating asymmetry A_{CPT} and the ratio of the decay width, including only the Lorentz violating effects, to the one obtained in the standard model, for the flavor dependent part of the lepton flavor conserving Z\to l^+ l^- (l=e,\mu,\tau) decay. The inclusion of the Lorentz and CPT violating effects to the standard model contribution is too small to be detected, since the corresponding coefficients are highly suppressed at the low energy scale.

Abstract:Experimental data on rare $B$-meson decays indicate deviations from Standard Model predictions. In studies of these decays, possible new sources of CP violation are often neglected. We discuss CP violation in the rare $B$-meson decays $B\to K\ell^+\ell^- (\ell = \mu,e)$ and point to two phenomena that arise when new sources of CP violation are included. First, the Wilson coefficients $C_{9\ell}$ and $C_{10\ell}$ become complex, and we show how we can extract their values from measurements of direct and mixing-induced CP asymmetries. Second, new sources of CP violation can generate nontrivial lepton flavour universality violation. Such a violation is usually measured through ratios like $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$, but we show that measuring only these ratios leaves a large parameter space unexplored. These results bring exciting opportunities to reveal New Physics effects in the high-precision era.

Abstract:We propose a method of measuring the CP-odd part of the Yukawa interaction of Higgs boson and $\tau$ leptons by observing the forward-backward asymmetry in the decay $H \to \tau^+ \, \tau^- \, \gamma$. The source of such asymmetry is the interference of the CP-even loop-level contribution coming from $H \to Z \, \gamma \to \tau^+ \, \tau^- \, \gamma$ decay channel with the contribution from tree-level CP-odd Yukawa interaction. We find that the CP violating effect is maximum when the invariant mass of the $\tau^+ \, \tau^-$ pair is equal to the mass of the $Z$ boson. We propose and utilise various Dalitz plot asymmetries to quantify the maximal size of the asymmetry and perform Monte Carlo simulations to study the feasibility of measuring it in the high luminosity phase of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC).

Theoretical Highlights of CP Violation in $B$ Decays

Abstract:In this presentation, we discuss recent key topics in theoretical analyses of CP violation in benchmarks decays of the $B$ meson. We provide the most updated values of the mixing phases and discuss the importance of including the penguin contributions in their studies. Exploring intriguing patterns in purely tree decays, interesting new methodologies can be developed and applied. New data related to the CP asymmetries of key modes like $B^0_d \to \pi^0 K_S$ and $B^0_s \to K^+ K^-$ lead to interesting results. The new $R_{K^{(*)}}$ measurement, compatible with the Standard Model, can still allow for electron-muon symmetry violation through new sources of CP violation.

An Overview of the Searches for the Violation of the Charge-Parity Symmetry in the Leptonic Sector

Abstract:The existence of a violation of the Charge-Parity (CP) symmetry in the laws of physics is one of the cornerstone conditions for the generation of a matter–antimatter imbalance necessary to the creation of a matter-dominated universe. The first experimental evidence of the fact that this symmetry is broken in nature was obtained in 1964 in the observations of the decays of neutral kaon mesons. The magnitude of CP violation in the quark sector was measured with an increasing precision exploring also decays of other mesons. However, CP violation in the quark sector alone is not sufficient to explain the formation of matter-dominated universe, and additional sources are required. One such potential source is the lepton sector, where the CP violation could be observed by studying neutrino oscillations with neutrino beams generated by particle accelerators. This article reviews the present efforts in this direction. The results obtained in the ongoing experiments, T2K in Japan and NOvA in USA, are discussed. Additionally, the search for leptonic CP violation is one of the key goals in the programs of future experiments, DUNE in USA and Hyper-Kamiokande in Japan. These experiments and their prospects for its discovery are also presented.

Abstract:The form factors for ${B}_{c}$ transitions are calculated with a relativistic constituent quark model based on the Bethe-Salpeter formalism. The rates for some semileptonic and nonleptonic ${B}_{c}$ weak decays and $\mathrm{CP}$-violating asymmetries for two-body hardonic ${B}_{c}$ decays are estimated as well. The calculated widths are compared with those predicted in other quark models of mesons. For the most promising signatures for the discovery of ${B}_{c}:$ ${B}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\psi}l\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{(l}^{\ensuremath{'}+}{l}^{\ensuremath{'}\ensuremath{-}})l\ensuremath{\nu}$ and ${B}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{(l}^{\ensuremath{'}+}{l}^{\ensuremath{'}\ensuremath{-}})\ensuremath{\pi}$ (with ${l}^{\ensuremath{'}}=e$ or $\ensuremath{\mu})$, the combined branching ratios are, respectively, estimated to be $1.06\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ and ${4.8a}_{1}^{2}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$ for ${\ensuremath{\tau}}_{{B}_{c}}=0.5$ ps and as large as $2.56\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ and ${1.15a}_{1}^{2}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$ for ${\ensuremath{\tau}}_{{B}_{c}}=1.2$ ps. There are large $\mathrm{CP}$-violating effects in some ${B}_{c}$ decay modes, and the rates for some of these (e.g., ${B}_{c}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\psi}{D}^{*},{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}D$, and ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}{D}^{*}$, etc.) are large too.

New constraints on CPT symmetry violation in charm mesons

Abstract:Small CPT-violating effects are admissible in several theories beyond the Standard Model of interactions. We analyse experimental data obtained with neutral flavoured meson mixing and place bounds on the scale of such phenomena. The constraints on the CPT-violating parameter $z$ are derived by reinterpreting the LHCb measurement of the time-dependent asymmetry in the Cabbibo-favoured $D^0 \rightarrow K^{-}\pi^{+}$ and $\bar{D}^0 \rightarrow K^{+}\pi^{-}$ decay rates. The bounds provided in this paper are two orders of magnitude stricter compared to the results obtained by the FOCUS Collaboration. Among other constraints, we report bounds on the difference in the decay widths and masses of the neutral D meson flavour states at a 95 % confidence level. The decay width difference is bounded by $(-4.7<\delta\Gamma_D<2.1)\times 10^{-16}$GeV. The mass difference lies within~$(-2.0<\delta m_D<2.0)\times 10^{-15}$GeV for 95% of $\text{arg}(z)$ values. The paper includes an assessment of the influence of CP violation on the results and a discussion of the future prospects.

Abstract:We study CP violation in b-baryon decays of Ξb−→Ξ−D with D=D0,D ̄0 and Di(i=1,2). We find that these baryonic decay processes provide an ideal opportunity to measure the weak phase due to the absence of the relative strong phase. Explicitly, we relate ρ ̄ and η ̄ the CKM elements with the decay rate ratios of Ri=Γ(Ξb−→Ξ−Di)/Γ(Ξb−→Ξ−D0) without the charge conjugate states. As a complementary, we also examine the decay distributions of Λb→Λ(→pπ−)D. There are in total 32 decay observables, which can be parameterized by 9 real parameters, allowing the experiments to extract the angle γ≡arg⁡(−VudVub⁎/VcdVcb⁎) in the CKM unitarity triangle. In addition, the feasibilities of the experimental measurements are discussed. We find that ρ ̄ and η ̄ can be extracted at LHCb Run3 from Ξb−→Ξ−D, and a full analysis of Λb→Λ(→pπ−)D is available at LHCb Run4.
