Abstract:We study genus 1 Gromov-Witten invariants of Fano complete intersections in the projective spaces. Among other things, we show a reconstruction theorem for genus 1 invariants with only ambient insertions, and compute the genus 1 invariants with 1 marked point. For cubic hypersurfaces of dimension $\neq 4$ and odd dimensional intersections of two quadrics, we obtain a complete reconstruction theorem for genus 1 Gromov-Witten invariants.

Abstract:In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2404.19088" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2404.19088">arXiv:2404.19088</a>, we initiated a program linking birational invariants with smooth ones and offering new interpretations of classical invariants, such as the Kervaire-Milnor invariants. Here, we rely on the profound geometric reasoning provided by Lupercio and Uribe in the early 00s to establish a connection between Chen-Ruan cohomology and several $G$-birational invariants introduced in the pioneering works Kontsevich, Kresch, Pestun, Tschinkel, along with presenting applications. Combined with the theory of atoms by Katzarkov, Kontsevich, Pantev, and Yu, the proposal in this paper program will lead to a theory of equivariant atoms.

Geometric Properties of Real Gromov-Witten Invariants

Abstract:We collect geometric properties of the all-genus real Gromov-Witten theory and provide updates on its development since its introduction in 2015. We bring attention to a modification of the original construction of this theory which is applicable in a broader setting, obtain properties of the orientations of the moduli spaces of real maps under this modification which had previously been obtained for the original construction, and compare such orientations obtained via the two constructions when both constructions are applicable. In particular, the orientation of the moduli space of real maps from a disjoint union of domains may not be the product orientation of the moduli spaces of real maps from its components, a possibility overlooked in our past work.

Super Gromov-Witten Invariants via torus localization

Abstract:In this article we propose a definition of super Gromov-Witten invariants by postulating a torus localization property for the odd directions of the moduli spaces of super stable maps and super stable curves of genus zero. That is, we define super Gromov-Witten invariants as the integral over the pullback of homology classes along the evaluation maps divided by the equivariant Euler class of the normal bundle of the embedding of the moduli space of stable spin maps into the moduli space of super stable maps. This definition sidesteps the difficulties of defining a supergeometric intersection theory and works with classical intersection theory only. The properties of the normal bundles, known from the differential geometric construction of the moduli space of super stable maps, imply that super Gromov-Witten invariants satisfy a generalization of Kontsevich-Manin axioms and allow for the construction of a super small quantum cohomology ring. We describe a method to calculate super Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathbb{P}^n$ of genus zero by a further geometric torus localization and give explicit numbers in degree one when dimension and number of marked points are small.

Gromov--Witten Invariants of Non-Convex Complete Intersections in Weighted Projective Stacks

Abstract:In this paper we compute genus 0 orbifold Gromov--Witten invariants of Calabi--Yau threefold complete intersections in weighted projective stacks, regardless of convexity conditions. The traditional quantumn Lefschetz principle may fail even for invariants with ambient insertions. Using quasimap wall-crossing, we are able to compute invariants with insertions from a specific subring of the Chen--Ruan cohomology, which contains all the ambient cohomology classes. Quasimap wall-crossing gives a mirror theorem expressing the I-function in terms of the J-function via a mirror map. The key of this paper is to find a suitable GIT presentation of the target space, so that the mirror map is invertible. An explicit formula for the I-function is given for all those target spaces and many examples with explicit computations of invariants are provided.

Abstract:In this article, we construct the reduced genus-two Gromov-Witten invariants for certain almost Kähler manifold $(X, \omega, J)$ such that $J$ is integrable and satisfies some regularity conditions. In particular, the standard projective space $(¶^n, \omega_0, J_0)$ of dimension $n \le 7$ satisfies these conditions. This invariant counts the number of simple genus-two $J$-holomorphic curves that satisfy appropriate number of constraints.

Abstract:Using obstruction bundles, composition law and the localization formula, we compute certain 3-point genus-0 Gromov-Witten invariants of the Hilbert scheme of 3-points on the complex projective plane. Our results partially verify Ruan's conjecture about quantum corrections for this Hilbert scheme.

Combinatorial Göttsche-Schroeter invariants in any genus

Abstract:Göttsche-Schroeter invariants are a genus 0 extension of Block-Göttsche invariants. They interpolate between Welschinger invariants involving pairs of complex conjugated points and genus 0 descendant Gromov-Witten invariants. They can be computed by a floor diagram algorithm. In this paper, we show that this floor diagrams recipe actually leads to some invariants in any genus. This generalizes Göttsche-Schroter invariant in higher genus in a combinatorial way. We then prove some polynomiality result and establish a link with invariants defined by Shustin and Sinichkin. We provide many examples. In particular, we conjecture that these combinatorial invariants satisfy the Abramovich-Bertram formula.

Refined Gromov-Witten invariants

Abstract:We study the enumerative geometry of stable maps to Calabi-Yau 5-folds $Z$ with a group action preserving the Calabi-Yau form. In the central case $Z=X \times \mathbb{C}^2$, where $X$ is a Calabi-Yau 3-fold with a group action scaling the holomorphic volume form non-trivially, we conjecture that the disconnected equivariant Gromov-Witten generating series of $Z$ returns the Nekrasov-Okounkov equivariant K-theoretic PT partition function of $X$ and, under suitable rigidity conditions, its refined BPS index. We show that in the unrefined limit the conjecture reproduces known statements about the higher genus Gromov-Witten theory of $X$; we prove it for $X$ the resolved conifold; and we establish a refined cycle-level local/relative correspondence for local del Pezzo surfaces, implying the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit of the conjecture when $X$ is the local projective plane. We further establish B-model physics predictions of Huang-Klemm for refined higher genus mirror symmetry for local $\mathbb{P}^2$. In particular, we prove that our refined Gromov-Witten generating series obey extended holomorphic anomaly equations, are quasi-modular functions of $\Gamma_1(3)$, have leading asymptotics at the conifold point given by the logarithm of the Barnes double-Gamma function, and satisfy a version of the higher genus Crepant Resolution Correspondence with the refined orbifold Gromov-Witten theory of $[\mathbb{C}^3/\mu_3]$. This refines results, and partially proves conjectures, of Lho-Pandharipande, Coates-Iritani, and Bousseau-Fan-Guo-Wu.

Abstract:Given a smooth projective variety $X$ and a smooth nef divisor $D$, we identify genus zero relative Gromov--Witten invariants of $(X,D)$ with $(n+1)$ relative markings with genus zero relative/orbifold Gromov--Witten invariants of a $\mathbb P^1$-bundle $P:=\mathbb P(\mathcal O_X(-D)\oplus \mathcal O_X)$ with $n$ relative markings. This is a generalization of the local-relative correspondence beyond maximal contacts. Repeating this process, we identify genus zero relative Gromov--Witten invariants with genus zero absolute Gromov--Witten invariants of toric bundles. We also present how this correspondence can be used to compute genus zero two-point relative Gromov--Witten invariants.

Degree zero Gromov--Witten invariants for smooth curves

Abstract:For a smooth projective curve, we derive a closed formula for the generating series of its Gromov--Witten invariants in genus $g$ and degree zero. It is known that the calculation of these invariants can be reduced to that of the $\lambda_g$ and $\lambda_{g-1}$ integrals on the moduli space of stable algebraic curves. The closed formula for the $\lambda_g$ integrals is given by the $\lambda_g$ conjecture, proved by Faber and Pandharipande. We compute in this paper the $\lambda_{g-1}$ integrals via solving the degree zero limit of the loop equation associated to the complex projective line.

Abstract:We introduce a method of constructing the virtual cycle of any scheme associated with a tangent-obstruction complex. We apply this method to constructing the virtual moduli cycle of the moduli of stable maps from n-pointed genus g curves to any smooth projective variety. Abstract:We use a topological framework to study descendent Gromov-Witten theory in higher genus, non-toric settings. Two geometries are considered: surfaces of general type and the Enriques Calabi-Yau threefold. We conjecture closed formulas for surfaces of general type in classes K and 2K. For the Enriques Calabi-Yau, Gromov-Witten invariants are calculated in genus 0, 1, and 2. In genus 2, the holomorphic anomaly equation is found.

Unramified Gromov-Witten and Gopakumar-Vafa invariants

Abstract:Kim, Kresch and Oh defined unramified Gromov-Witten invariants. For a threefold, Pandharipande conjectured that they are equal to Gopakumar-Vafa invariants (BPS invariants) in the case of Fano classes and primitive Calabi-Yau classes. We prove the conjecture using a wall-crossing technique. This provides an algebro-geometric construction of Gopakumar-Vafa invariants in these cases.

Gromov-Witten Invariants of Bielliptic Surfaces

Abstract:Bielliptic surfaces appear as quotient of a product of two elliptic curves and were classified by Bagnera-Franchis. We give a concrete way of computing their GW-invariants with point insertions using a floor diagram algorithm. Using the latter, we are able to prove the quasi-modularity of their generating series by relating them to generating series of graphs for which we also prove quasi-modularity results. We propose a refinement of these invariants by inserting a {\lambda}-class in the considered GW-invariants.

Abstract:A moduli space of stable maps to the fibers of a fiber bundle is constructed. The new moduli space is a family version of the classical moduli space of stable maps to a non-singular complex projective variety. The virtual cycle for this moduli space is also constructed, and an analogue of Gromov-Witten invariants is defined. As an application, we recover the formula for the number of rational degree d curves in P3, whose image lies in a plane in P3 (known as planar curves in P3), intersecting r general lines while passing through given s general points, where r + 2s = 3d + 2, firstly proved by R. Mukherjee, R. Kumar Singh and the fourth named author.
