Abstract:As we all know, in "Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio", Pu Songling gave a large description about love story. During a long period of time, many researchers and critics analyzed the female images and their view of marriage. There are three crucial stages of researches with many critics speaking highly of the view of marriage from the females in "Strange Stories From a Chinese Studio", especially when it comes to females' bold courtship and free marriage. The third stage of research, that is, since the nineties, however, the questions of the female images in the book started rising among the researchers. And not only that, even Pu Songling's psychology has been taken into consideration. Based on this point of view, I hope to re-analyze the female images in "Strange Stories From a Chinese Studio" with different angels, also with consideration of author's psychology. By starting with the well-known chapters, this paper won't lay one-sided emphasis on "free", "progressive" to analyze the females, but with the expectation that readers can truly realize how hard and miserable the females are at that time.

Abstract:The novels “Exiled Immortal” and “A Touch of Green” are included in Bai Xianyong’s novels The New Yorker and Taipei People, respectively. In Bai Xianyong’s works, the concern for women is a constant topic, and he transforms himself into a combination of rationality and sensibility, sculpts the contours of the times and society, and captures the image of women in the plot through the language and behavioral details between reality and fiction. The tragic dimension magnifies the existence of women, the ups and downs of fate, the sadness of a foreign land, or the loss of self as a way to think about the dilemma of women’s existence. This paper focuses on female tragedy from a three-dimensional perspective: the causes, the deep narrative techniques, and the tragic endings. The study seeks to deepen the understanding of the delicate sense of female tragedy in the writing of Bai Xianyong.
An Analysis of Cao Yus Creative Conception of Female Images Transformation in His Plays

Abstract:As the Pioneer of Chinese Drama, Cao Yu has contributed a series of distinctive and representative female images to contemporary Chinese literature. However, it exists a great transformation in female image creation and aesthetics in his plays. Divided from 1938, modern women represented by Fanyi, Chen Bailu and Hua Jinzi full of passion for life were celebrated by Cao Yu during the pre-time, while traditional women with classic Chinese flavors got well recognized by him during the post-time, such as Doctor Ding, Sufang and Ruijue. The transformation related closely to his creative conception, reflecting Cao Yus re-choice of his aesthetic interests, values, and cultural stance. This article analyzed Cao Yus creative conception from the differences between his two periods of female image creation and aesthetics before and after 1938. In recent years, feminism has been on the rise in China. Therefore, it will not only be beneficial to the Chinese womens liberation movement, but also to the worlds womens liberation movement.

Abstract:With the development of feminism, women's discourse has gradually risen, while women's emancipation in China has been even more difficult in terms of ideology due to the ravages of thousands of years of feudal concepts. With the help of Freud's psychoanalytic theory, this paper puts the characters in the background of the White Deer Plain and analyses their typical female images. From the perspective of personality structure theory, Tian Xiao'e is regarded as the representative of the "id", Bai Zhao's and Lu Leng's are regarded as the representatives of the "ego", and Bai Ling is regarded as the representative of the "superego". It also incorporates feminist theories to realistically and intrinsically analyse the tragic fate of women in the White Deer Plain. This paper exposes the "cannibalistic" nature of the male-dominated feudal society to enrich the reader's knowledge of the female characters in White Deer Plain and to understand the value of women's awakening.

The novel adopts the child,the elderly,women's triple perspectives and dual contradiction interweave with each other in every perspective. This is a successful way of stating the fate of women in the novel. The pure child's perspective reveals the contradiction of puerility and massiness;the old man's perspective reveals the contradiction of indifference and sympathy;the women's perspective reveals the contradiction of struggle and compromise. In this novel,through multiple perspectives and dual contradiction in each perspective,the particular significance and eternal poignancy of women's tragedies becomes more obvious.

Abstract:There are something in common between PU Song ling's wife and the female figures of his novel: they are all good at housekeeping, with inner directed, capable of sacrifice , with stronger ability to exist than males. Directly coming from Pu's ideal and his concern for and understanding of females , these female figures transcend to some degree the limits of family ethic, and highlight the feminine identity of females but not their identity of wife or motherhood. PU Song ling distributed in his full strength all the virtues ,such as beauty, youth, freedom ,and even his humor and poetics to females, but only admiration left to males.

Abstract:Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio is one of the brilliant classical Chinese short stories in which females are described from the male perspective. The work presents diverse images of females who are not male private property or accessories any longer. As daughters, wives and mothers, they express the strong sense of feminism in a patriarchal society. The paper explores the images of five typical females from daughterhood, wifehood and motherhood based on Pu Songling’s description. These independent and avant-garde female images are the projection of Pu’s subconscious, which illustrates his advanced thought and reveals the social value of female.

Abstract:In Strange Tales From Liaozhai,Pu Songling constructed a group of distinctive images of women.This article tries to redefine "the Pu's female images" from the reality and the illusion worlds created by Pu Songling,that is,the ordinary women in reality and the fox fairies,ghosts,flower-spirits etc.Through the analysis of these vivid female images and the pattern of the construction,this article concentrates on the text to contrast the roles played by the female characters and their unique personalities in their daily life and in their love and marriage.Compared with the male characters,Pu devotes more love to the female roles.The individualities and spirit of the female images declare the brand new mood of the society,and also reflect the female consciousness of Pu Songling.

Abstract:There is a meaning world of female culture in A Dream of Red Mansions, which take JIA Bao-yu and LIN Dai-yu as the main characters.In this meaning world, spoony compass and its connotation are embodied. The novel is very meticulous about the life compass of infatuation and self-denial, which are not understand by people. The result that the spoony objects are doomed to disappear lead the life style develop from infatuation to sadness. As a constructive version of female culture, A Dream of Red Mansions build up a blueprint, in which, especially the representative figures, we can know the life style in the meaning world of female culture. This kind of life feeling, spoony and sad, is the representative character of life.

Abstract:As a mature work of ancient Chinese tragedy, Dou E Yuan not only accuses the cruel reality of disregard for human life, but also has a great influence on later literature and drama. Up to now, it has also appeared as a classic in stage performances, teaching books, etc. Many dramas are deeply inspired by its artistry, theme and realism. The "red literary works" with the same goal as "two for the road" also need a strong political propaganda means to publicize revolutionary thoughts by means of this art form. From the perspective of female images in Dou E Yuan and Two for the Road, this paper comprehensively analyzes the embodiment of female personality characteristics, values and artistic techniques in the two dramas, and compares and investigates the characteristics, situations and changes of gender consciousness of female images in the two dramas.

Abstract:The TV series "Empresses in the Palace" is a rare boutique in the harem theme category in recent years. The TV series narrates the life of concubine Zhen Huan and her life in the harem from her perspective. Based on the plotting and textual analysis of the drama, this paper analyzes the female tragedy and the awakening of female consciousness in the drama from the female perspective. Three main aspects are analyzed: the microcosm of the harem from the female perspective, the image of women from the modern female perspective, and the overall tragedy of the harem concubines. The research objectives are achieved by studying the influence of Cheng-Zhu neo-Confucianism on feudal rituals, the embodiment of female self-awareness, and the portrayal of characters in the play. The study concludes that the characterization of Zhen Huan, as an example, contains a sense of independence in modern women's thinking and that the overall tragedy of the harem concubines and the shackles of feudal rituals lead to a clear understanding of the oppression and mutilation of women in feudal society.
