Abstract:Stationary black holes of massless supergravity theories are described by certain geodesic curves on the target space that is obtained after dimensional reduction over time. When the target space is a symmetric coset space we make use of the group-theoretical structure to prove that the second order geodesic equations are integrable in the sense of Liouville, by explicitly constructing the correct amount of Hamiltonians in involution. This implies that the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism can be applied, which proves that all such black hole solutions, including non-extremal solutions, possess a description in terms of a (fake) superpotential. Furthermore, we improve the existing integration method by the construction of a Lax integration algorithm that integrates the second order equations in one step instead of the usual two step procedure. We illustrate this technology with a specific example.

Abstract:This paper presents a new perspective on integrability in theories of gravity. We show how the stationary, axisymmetric sector of General Relativity can be described by the boundary dynamics of a four-dimensional Chern-Simons theory. This approach shows promise for simplifying solution generating methods in both General Relativity and higher-dimensional supergravity theories. The four-dimensional Chern-Simons theory presented generalises those for flat space integrable models by introducing a space-time dependent branch cut in the spectral plane. We also make contact with twistor space approaches to integrability, showing how the branch cut defects of four-dimensional Chern-Simons theory arise from a discrete reduction of six-dimensional Chern-Simons theory.

Abstract:We are solving for the case of flat superspace some homological problems that were formulated by Berkovits and Howe. (Our considerations can be applied also to the case of supertorus.) These problems arise in the attempt to construct integrals invariant with respect to supersymmetry. They appear also in other situations, in particular, in the pure spinor formalism in supergravity.

Abstract:We compute the potential-graviton contribution to the scattering amplitude, the radial action, and the scattering angle of two extremal black holes in N = 8 supergravity at the fifth post-Minkowskian order to next-to-leading order in a large mass expansion (first self-force order). Properties of classical unitarity cuts allow us to focus on the integration-by-parts reduction of planar integrals, while nonplanar integrals at this order are obtained from the planar ones by straightforward manipulations. We present all master integrals and solve their associated differential equations necessary to evaluate the classical scattering amplitudes of massive scalar particles at this order in all gravitational theories, in particular in N = 8 supergravity, and in general relativity. Despite the appearance of higher-weight generalized polylogarithms and elliptic functions in the solution to the differential equation for master integrals, the final supergravity answer is remarkably simple and contains only (harmonic) polylogarithmic functions up to weight 2. The systematic analysis of elliptic integrals discussed here, as well as the particular organization of boundary integrals in N = 8 observables are independent of supersymmetry and may have wider applications, including to aspects of collider physics.

Abstract:In the present letter we indicate an extension of the pure gravity inverse scattering integration technique to the case when fermions (introduced on the base of supersymmetry) are present. In this way the integrability technique for simple ($N=1$) supergravity in two space-time dimensions coupled to the matter fields taking values in the Lie algebra of $E_{8\left( +8\right) }$ group is developed. This theory contains matter living only in one Weyl representation of $SO\left( 16\right) $ and represents the reduction to two dimensions of the three-dimensional simple supergravity constructed in [1]. Our spectral linear problem use superspace and covers the complete set of principal bosonic and fermionic equations of motion. This linear system, as in pure gravity, contains only the first order poles with respect to the spectral parameter. The procedure of constructing the exact super-solitonic solutions is outlined.

Superintegrability in the interaction of two particles with spin

Abstract:We initiate a research program for the systematic investigation of quantum superintegrable systems involving the interaction of two non-relativistic particles with spin $1/2$ moving in the three-dimensional Euclidean space. In this paper, we focus specifically on such superintegrable systems that allow additional scalar integrals of motion, linear in the momenta. We first identify specific potentials appearing in the Hamiltonian that should be excluded from the analysis, as they can be immediately derived through gauge transformations of the natural Hamiltonian. Next, we construct the most general symmetric scalar operator and derive the determining equations from its commutation with the Hamiltonian. Solving these equations, we obtain 12 new superintegrable systems with spin, along with their corresponding first-order scalar integrals of motion.

Abstract:Following the construction of a model for the planar supersymmetric Chaplygin gas, supersymmetric fluid mechanics in (1+1)-dimensions is obtained from the light-cone parametrized Nambu-Goto superstring in (2+1)-dimensions. The lineal model is completely integrable and can be formulated neatly using Riemann coordinates. Infinite towers of conserved charges and supercharges are exhibited. They form irreducible representations of a dynamical (hidden) SO(2,1) symmetry group.

We show that the spin chain associated to the planar dilation operator of $ \mathcal{N}=2 $ superconformal QCD fails to be integrable at two loops. In our analysis we focus on a closed SU(2|1) sector, whose two-loop spin chain we fix by symmetry arguments (up to a few undetermined coefficients). It turns out that the Yang-Baxter equation for magnon scattering is not satisfied in this sector. On the other hand, we suggest that the closed SU(2, 1|2) sector, which exists in any $ \mathcal{N}=2 $ superconformal gauge theory, may be integrable to all loops. We summarize the known results in the literature that are consistent with this conjecture.

Abstract:Four-dimensional Chern-Simons (4DCS) theory is useful for understanding integrable sigma-models and constructing new ones. In this paper, we show how to derive the complete pure spinor AdS5×S5 superstring sigma-model from 4DCS theory with defects. Localisation without supersymmetry: towards exact results from Dirac structures in 3D $N = 0$ gauge theory

Abstract:We show, by introducing purely auxiliary gluinos and scalars, that the quantum path integral for a class of 3D interacting non-supersymmetric gauge theories localises. The theories in this class all admit a `Manin gauge theory' formulation, that we introduce; it is obtained by enhancing the gauge algebra of the theory to a Dirac structure inside a Manin pair. This machinery allows us to do localisation computations for every theory in this class at once, including for 3D Yang-Mills theory, and for its Third Way deformation; the latter calculation casts the Third Way path integral into an almost 1-loop exact form.

Dualities and Discretizations of Integrable Quantum Field Theories from 4d Chern-Simons Theory

Abstract:We elucidate the relationship between 2d integrable field theories and 2d integrable lattice models, in the framework of the 4d Chern-Simons theory. The 2d integrable field theory is realized by coupling the 4d theory to multiple 2d surface order defects, each of which is then discretized into 1d defects. We find that the resulting defects can be dualized into Wilson lines, so that the lattice of discretized defects realizes integrable lattice models. Our discretization procedure works systematically for a broad class of integrable models (including trigonometric and elliptic models), and uncovers a rich web of new dualities among integrable field theories. We also study the anomaly-inflow mechanism for the integrable models, which is required for the quantum integrability of field theories. By analyzing the anomalies of chiral defects, we derive a new set of bosonization dualities between generalizations of massless Thirring models and coupled Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW) models. We study an embedding of our setup into string theory, where the thermodynamic limit of the lattice models is realized by polarizations of D-branes.

Abstract:A bstract We revisit the leading irrelevant deformation of = 4 Super Yang-Mills theory that preserves sixteen supercharges. We consider the deformed theory on S 3 × R . We are able to write a closed form expression of the classical action thanks to a formalism that realizes eight supercharges off shell. We then investigate integrability of the spectral problem, by studying the spin-chain Hamiltonian in planar perturbation theory. While there are some structural indications that a suitably defined deformation might preserve integrability, we are unable to settle this question by our two-loop calculation; indeed up to this order we recover the integrable Hamiltonian of undeformed = 4 SYM due to accidental symmetry enhancement. We also comment on the holographic interpretation of the theory.

Abstract:We study instanton solutions and superpotentials for the large number of vacua of the plane-wave matrix model and a 2+1 dimensional Super Yang-Mills theory on R× S2 with sixteen supercharges. We get the superpotential in the weak coupling limit from the gauge theory description. We study the gravity description of these instantons. Perturbatively with respect to a background, they are Euclidean branes wrapping cycles in the dual gravity background. Moreover, the superpotential can be given by the energy of the electric charge system characterizing each vacuum. These charges are interpreted as the eigenvalues of matrices from a reduction for the 1/8 BPS sector of the gauge theories. We also discuss qualitatively the emergence of the extra spatial dimensions appeared on the gravity side.

Abstract:We consider here the coexistence of first- and third-order integrals of motion in two dimensional classical and quantum mechanics. We find explicitly all potentials that admit such integrals, and all their integrals. Quantum superintegrable systems are found that have no classical analog, i.e. the potentials are proportional to \hbar^2, so their classical limit is free motion.

Abstract:Gaiotto and Witten found that one can construct 3d = 4 Chern-Simons matter theories by using = 4 SCFT whose momentum map of global symmetries satisfy special condition. Usually, one uses free hypermultiplet and twisted hypermultiplet, and more recently it was found that strongly coupled theory such as 3d version of T N theory and Argyres-Douglas matter can also be used. In this paper, we compute the superconformal index of these = 4 theories and derive the Coulomb/Higgs limit. Our results determine the moduli space of vacua, which is used to check various interesting mirror symmetry involving CSM theory and usual = 4 gauge theory.

Abstract:A coupled massive Thirring model of two interacting Dirac spinors in $1+1$ dimensions with fields taking values in a Grassmann algebra is introduced, which is closely related to a SU(1,1) version of the Grassmannian Thirring model also introduced in this work. The Lax pair for the system is constructed, and its equations of motion are obtained from a zero curvature condition. It is shown that the system possesses several infinite hierarchies of conserved quantities, which strongly confirms its integrability. The model admits a canonical formulation and is invariant under space-time translations, Lorentz boosts and global U(1) gauge transformations, as well as discrete symmetries like parity and time reversal. The conserved quantities associated to the continuous symmetries are derived using Noether's theorem, and their relation to the lower-order integrals of motion is spelled out. New nonlocal integrable models are constructed through consistent nonlocal reductions between the field components of the general model. The Lagrangian, the Hamiltonian, the Lax pair and several infinite hierarchies of conserved quantities for each of these nonlocal models are obtained substituting its reduction in the expressions of the analogous quantities for the general model. It is shown that, although the Lorentz symmetry of the general model breaks down for its nonlocal reductions, these reductions remain invariant under parity, time reversal, global U(1) gauge transformations and space-time translations.

Abstract:We explore the relationship between the SU(2) sector of a general integrable field theory and the all-loop guess for the anomalous dimensions of SU(2) operators in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. We demonstrate that the SU(2) structure of a nested Bethe ansatz alone reproduces much of the all-loop guess without depending on the details of the particular field theory. We speculate on the implications of this for strings in AdS_5 X S^5 being described by the multi-particle states of an integrable worldsheet theory, and relate the techniques here to the known relationship between the Hubbard model and the all-loop guess.
