Abstract:A variety of nanoelectronic and nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) applications could potentially employ graphene. Even though graphene's electrostatic properties have been well investigated, further study is still required to understand how rotation affects them in a semi-infinite setting. The current work uses classical electrostatics and an atomistic moment technique to estimate the capacitance and charge changes across multiple freestanding graphene structures assuming that they are rotated in a semi-infinite environment. Specifically, the study investigates the influence of the graphene sheet's size, height above the grounded plane, and rotational orientations on electrostatic changes. The findings explain that rotation noticeably alters the electrostatic properties of graphene, with obvious variations in charge distribution throughout the graphene sheet. A direct correlation between the rotation angle and the magnitude of both the point charge and the end charge is observed. Additionally, a marked difference in the normalized total charge values was observed, especially as the graphene layer approached closer to the ground.
