Abstract:Based on the $\mu$-bubble method we are able to prove the following version of Riemannian Penrose inequality without horizon: if $g$ is a complete metric on $\mathbb R^3\setminus\{O\}$ with nonnegative scalar curvature, which is asymptotically flat around the infinity of $\mathbb R^3$, then the ADM mass $m$ at the infinity of $\mathbb R^3$ satisfies $m\geq \sqrt{\frac{A_g}{16\pi}}$, where $A_g$ is denoted to be the area infimum of embedded closed surfaces homologous to $\mathbb S^2(1)$ in $\mathbb R^3\setminus\{O\}$. Moreover, the equality holds if and only if there is a strictly outer-minimizing minimal $2$-sphere such that the region outside is isometric to the half Schwarzschild manifold with mass $\sqrt{\frac{A_g}{16\pi}}$.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the sharp constants of quantitative Hardy and Rellich inequalities on nonreversible Finsler manifolds equipped with arbitrary measures. In particular, these inequalities can be globally refined by adding remainder terms like the Brezis–Vázquez improvement, if Finsler manifolds are of strictly negative flag curvature, vanishing S-curvature and finite uniformity constant. Furthermore, these results remain valid when Finsler metrics are reversible.

Abstract:Inspired by the method of Mantoulidis-Schoen cite{schoen-mant}, we apply the Riemannian Penrose inequality to derive inequalities on the boundary of compact Riemannian $3$-manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature, whose boundary consists of minimal surfaces and a $2$-sphere with positive constant mean curvature.

Abstract:We prove that the Riemannian Penrose Inequality holds for Asymptotically Flat $3$-manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature and connected horizon boundary, provided the optimal decay assumptions are met, which result in the $\mathrm{ADM}$ mass being a well-defined geometric invariant. Our proof builds on a novel interplay between the Hawking mass and a potential-theoretic version of it, recently introduced by Agostiniani, Oronzio and the third named author. As a consequence, we establish the equality between $\mathrm{ADM}$ mass and Huisken's Isoperimetric mass under the above sharp assumptions. Moreover, we establish a Riemannian Penrose Inequality in terms of the Isoperimetric mass on any $3$-manifold with nonnegative scalar curvature, connected horizon boundary, and which supports a well-posed notion of weak Inverse Mean Curvature Flow. In particular, such Isoperimetric Riemannian Penrose Inequality does not require the asymptotic flatness of the manifold. The argument is based on a new asymptotic comparison result involving Huisken's Isoperimetric mass and the Hawking mass.

Abstract:We control the number of critical points of a height function arising from the Nash isometric embedding of a compact Riemannian n -manifold M . The L n/2 curvature norm ∥ R ∥ and a similar scalar ∥ R ∥ are introduced and their integral R(M) and R(M) over M . We prove that R(M) is bounded below by a constant depending only on n and the Betti numbers of M . Thus a new sphere theorem is proved by eliminating all i th Betti numbers for i = 1, .… n −1. The emphasis is that our sphere theorem imposes no restriction on the range of curvature.

Abstract:In this paper we prove a rigidity result for the equality case of the Penrose inequality on 3-dimensional asymptotically flat manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature and corners. Our result also has deep connections with the equality cases of Theorem 1 in Miao (Commun Math Phys 292(1):271–284, 2009 ) and Theorem 1.1 in Lu and Miao (Minimal hypersurfaces and boundary behavior of compact manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature, arXiv:1703.08164v2 , 2017 ).

Abstract:We establish a Penrose-type inequality with angular momenta for four dimensional, biaxially symmetric, maximal, asymptotically flat initial data sets $(M,g,k)$ for the Einstein equations with fixed angular momenta and horizon inner boundary associated to a 3-sphere outermost minimal surface. Moreover, equality holds if and only if the initial data set is isometric to a canonical time slice of a stationary Myers-Perry black hole.

Abstract:We study the Penrose inequality and its rigidity for metrics with singular sets. Our result could be viewed as a complement of Theorem 1.1 of Lu and Miao (J. Funct. Anal. 281, 2021) and Theorem 1.2 of Shi, Wang and Yu (Math. Z. 291, 2019), in which they assume the singular set is a hypersurface and assume an additional condition on the mean curvature. As a complement, this paper study the case of singular set of dimensional less than n-1, without any additional conditions.

Abstract:Riemannian Penrose Inequalities are precise geometric statements that imply that the total mass of a zero second fundamental form slice of a spacetime is at least the mass contributed by the black holes, assuming that the spacetime has nonnegative matter density everywhere. In this paper, we remove this last assumption, and prove stronger statements that the total mass is at least the mass contributed by the black holes, plus a contribution coming from the matter density along the slice.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a Willmore-type inequality for closed hypersurfaces in a complete Riemannian manifold of dimension $n+1$ with ${\rm Ric}\geq-ng$. It extends the classic result of Argostianiani, Fogagnolo, and Mazzieri in [1] to the Riemannian manifold of negative curvature. As an application, we construct a Willmore-type inequality for closed hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space and obtain the characterization of geodesic sphere.

Abstract:In this short note, we provide a quantitative global Poincaré inequality for one forms on a closed Riemannian four manifold, in terms of an upper bound on the diameter, a positive lower bound on the volume, and a two-sided bound on Ricci curvature. This seems to be the first non-trivial result giving such an inequality without any higher curvature assumptions. The proof is based on a Hodge theoretic result on orbifolds, a comparison for fundamental groups, and a spectral convergence with respect to Gromov-Hausdorff convergence, via a degeneration result to orbifolds by Anderson.

Abstract:In this note, we prove that positive scalar curvature can pass to three dimensional Ricci limit spaces of non-negative Ricci curvature when it splits off a line. As a corollary, we obtain an optimal Bonnet-Myers type upper bound. Moreover, we obtain a similar statement in all dimensions for Alexandrov spaces of non-negative curvature.

Abstract:We establish the Noether inequality for projective 3-folds. More precisely, we prove that the inequality vol(X)≥43p_g(X)-103 holds for all projective 3-folds X of general type with either p_g(X)≤ 4 or p_g(X)≥ 21, where p_g(X) is the geometric genus and vol(X) is the canonical volume. This inequality is optimal due to known examples found by M. Kobayashi in 1992.

Abstract:We establish a lower bound on the ADM mass of the time slices of $(n + 1)$-dimensional asymptotically flat standard static spacetimes under the timelike convergence condition. This extends the Minkowski inequality for static vacuum spacetimes, which relates the total mass of a time slice to the area and total mean curvature of its boundary. As a corollary, we obtain the Riemannian Penrose inequality in all dimensions and with rigidity for static manifolds under the TCC.

Abstract:We explore for compact Riemannian surfaces whose boundary consists of a single closed geodesic the relationship between orthospectrum and boundary length. More precisely, we establish a uniform lower bound on the boundary length in terms of the orthospectrum when fixing a metric invariant of the surface related to the classical notion of volume entropy. This inequality can be thought of as a Riemannian analog of Basmajian's identity for hyperbolic surfaces.

Abstract:Based on a proper definition of the spin current, we investigate the spin-Hall effect of heavy holes in narrow quantum wells in the presence of Rashba spin-orbit coupling by using a spin-density matrix approach. In contrast to previous results obtained on the basis of the conventional definition of the spin current, we arrive at the conclusion that an electric-field-induced steady-state spin-Hall current does not exist in both, pure and disordered infinite samples. Only an ac field can induce a spin-Hall effect in such systems.

Abstract:We apply the Riemannian Penrose inequality and the Riemannian positive mass theorem to derive inequalities on the boundary of a class of compact Riemannian 3-manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature. The boundary of such a manifold has a CMC component, i.e., a 2-sphere with positive constant mean curvature; and the rest of the boundary, if nonempty, consists of closed minimal surfaces. A key step in our proof is the construction of a collar extension that is inspired by the method of Mantoulidis-Schoen.
