Abstract:The explosive popularity of ChatGPT around the world gave us the first real tipping point in public acceptance of AI. Finally, everyone, everywhere can see the breakthrough potential of this technology for themselves. Large language models (LLM) and the fundamental models underlying these advances in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) represent a significant turning point. Not only have they cracked the code of language complexity, allowing machines to learn context, infer intent, and be independent creative individuals, but they can be quickly configured to perform a wide variety of different tasks. This technology should fundamentally change everything — from science, business, health care to, in fact, society itself. The positive impact on human creativity and productivity will be enormous. Companies will use these models to rethink the way work is done. Every role in every enterprise has the potential to be reimagined, as AI people working as co-pilots become the norm, greatly expanding their capabilities. Generative AI will affect tasks, not professions. Some of these tasks will be automated, some will be transformed by artificial intelligence, and some will remain unchanged. It can also be expected that humans will face a large number of new challenges, such as ensuring the accurate and responsible use of GenAI systems. That's why organizations that invest in training people to work with generative AI will have a significant advantage.

Abstract:A new class of tools, colloquially called generative AI, can produce high-quality artistic media for visual arts, concept art, music, fiction, literature, video, and animation. The generative capabilities of these tools are likely to fundamentally alter the creative processes by which creators formulate ideas and put them into production. As creativity is reimagined, so too may be many sectors of society. Understanding the impact of generative AI - and making policy decisions around it - requires new interdisciplinary scientific inquiry into culture, economics, law, algorithms, and the interaction of technology and creativity. We argue that generative AI is not the harbinger of art's demise, but rather is a new medium with its own distinct affordances. In this vein, we consider the impacts of this new medium on creators across four themes: aesthetics and culture, legal questions of ownership and credit, the future of creative work, and impacts on the contemporary media ecosystem. Across these themes, we highlight key research questions and directions to inform policy and beneficial uses of the technology.

Abstract:Generative artificial intelligence, the new buzzword in technology, is the next step in the evolution of traditional artificial intelligence. Unlike traditional AI that excels in data analyzing and automating processes, generative AI (GenAI) is a pioneer in creating new and original content. GenAI is very close to human intelligence, capable of logical thinking, imitating human behavior and armed with decision making capabilities. Generative AI creates new texts, images, music, 3D designs and codes, thus strongly influencing the activities, strategies, and consumer interactions of various industries. Key industries most affected by GenAI are banking and finance, retail and consumer goods, medicine and pharmaceuticals, education, media and marketing. In marketing, generative AI is significant in the process of personalization, content creation, audience engagement and interactions, performing the STP strategy (segmentation, targeting, positioning), market research, etc. Although it has great advantages, GenAI also has significant limitations, such as unresolved ethical issues, the spread of outdated or imprecise data, lack of legal regulation and control, etc. This paper, with the aid of secondary research, is aimed at exploring the possibilities of GenAI and its impact on marketing, especially advertising.

Abstract:Generative AI based art has proliferated in the past year, with increasingly impressive use cases from generating fake human faces to the creation of systems that can generate thousands of artistic images from text prompts - some of these images have even been "good" enough to win accolades from qualified judges. In this paper, we explore how Generative Models have impacted artistry, not only from a qualitative point of view, but also from an angle of exploitation of artists -- both via plagiarism, where models are trained on their artwork without permission, and via profit shifting, where profits in the art market have shifted from art creators to model owners. However, we posit that if deployed responsibly, AI generative models have the possibility of being a positive, new modality in art that does not displace or harm existing artists.

Abstract:Propelled by their remarkable capabilities to generate novel and engaging content, Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies are disrupting traditional workflows in many industries. While prior research has examined GenAI from a techno-centric perspective, there is still a lack of understanding about how users perceive and utilize GenAI in real-world scenarios. To bridge this gap, we conducted semi-structured interviews with (N=18) GenAI users in creative industries, investigating the human-GenAI co-creation process within a holistic LUA (Learning, Using and Assessing) framework. Our study uncovered an intriguingly complex landscape: Prospects-GenAI greatly fosters the co-creation between human expertise and GenAI capabilities, profoundly transforming creative workflows; Challenges-Meanwhile, users face substantial uncertainties and complexities arising from resource availability, tool usability, and regulatory compliance; Strategies-In response, users actively devise various strategies to overcome many of such challenges. Our study reveals key implications for the design of future GenAI tools.

Abstract:The future of work and workplace is very much in flux. A vast amount has been written about artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on work, with much of it focused on automation and its impact in terms of potential job losses. This review will address one area where AI is being added to creative and design practitioners' toolbox to enhance their creativity, productivity, and design horizons. A designer's primary purpose is to create, or generate, the most optimal artifact or prototype, given a set of constraints. We have seen AI encroaching into this space with the advent of generative networks and generative adversarial networks (GANs) in particular. This area has become one of the most active research fields in machine learning over the past number of years, and a number of these techniques, particularly those around plausible image generation, have garnered considerable media attention. We will look beyond automatic techniques and solutions and see how GANs are being incorporated into user pipelines for design practitioners. A systematic review of publications indexed on ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Web of Science, Scopus, IEEExplore, and ACM DigitalLibrary was conducted from 2015 to 2020. Results are reported according to PRISMA statement. From 317 search results, 34 studies (including two snowball sampled) are reviewed, highlighting key trends in this area. The studies' limitations are presented, particularly a lack of user studies and the prevalence of toy-examples or implementations that are unlikely to scale. Areas for future study are also identified.

Abstract:Generative Artificial Intelligence tools have gained increasing prominence in recent years. However, the increasing use of these technologies and the functionalities they offer has sparked discussions about their impact and even raised concerns about the potential replacement of human work by automation carried out by machines. This study proposes a Systematic Literature Review to evaluate the opportunities and challenges that these technologies present to system developers in the current and future technological scenario. Aiming at state-of-the-art research to identify how Generative AIs are being applied in the context of software development and what are the latest trends and innovations in this field and how these innovations affect the opportunities and challenges for system developers. As a result, several studies were found that highlight how Generative AI has provided productivity and systems development optimized solutions in the industry, as well as promoting innovations. Studies also emphasize the need for a balance between the use of AI tools and development carried out by human participation, which must be mediated by common sense. Furthermore, the review will explore the ethical implications associated with the widespread adoption of AI technologies, addressing issues such as data privacy, decision-making transparency, and the responsibility of developers in ensuring that AI applications are used in a way that benefits society. The findings of this review will contribute to a better understanding of how generative AI is reshaping the software development landscape and provide insights for future research and development in this rapidly evolving field.

Abstract:Generative artificial intelligence, enabled through sophisticated machine learning frameworks, such as Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), is disrupting the creative landscape within many of the creative industries, opening a new set of tools for content creation. Therefore, this article investigates the disruptions generative models present across multiple aspects of creative production, focusing on the influences of art, music, literature, and design. In the visual arts, generative AI produces original artworks that blend aesthetics and styles that extend conventional notions of creativity; in music, AI-composition tools allow musicians to compose original musical works and experiment with entirely new genres. In literature and storytelling, the same generative processes offer AI systems the ability to propose narrative frameworks and other textual elements that may instigate human writers to take these concepts further with a narrative or may stand on their own as original content. In design, generative algorithms support product development all the way down to quickly prototyping new products. The paper includes specific case studies or outlines of the application of generative AI tools to proposed projects, a discussion of effectiveness with the respective generative model, and the potential limitations generative models present for each creative area. The paper will also reflect on the threats generative AI may pose, the potential to redefine human creativity, originality, and ownership, implications for the potential decision-making capabilities of these systems, and if there may be consequences for society. In all these considerations, there are opportunities for and more significant implications of the potential of generative AI to assist and expand human creative possibilities throughout the entire creative process.
