Abstract:The advent of generative AI has sparked apprehension regarding its capacity to replace human workers in many jobs. However, the most significant opportunity for this technology lies in its potential to assist businesses and governments in addressing the challenges associated with democratizing innovation by augmenting human creativity. These challenges include the influx of ideas, the inability of domain experts to embrace novel concepts, the difficulty in refining vague ideas into actionable plans, and the struggle to integrate diverse customer requirements into viable solutions. Generative AI can transform this landscape by fostering divergent thinking, challenging existing biases, aiding in the evaluation of ideas, enhancing the refinement of concepts, and promoting collaborative innovation among employees and customers. This article aims to shed light on several leading training algorithms in the domain. Generative AI has left a profound imprint on a myriad of industries. Intelligent publishing, advertising content creation, and finance are just a few sectors that have been revolutionized by this technology. As with all significant technological shifts, generative AI is not without its challenges. The implications it holds for employment, intellectual property rights, as well as security and privacy concerns, are profound. Abstract:The Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, Ahead of Print. Our paper explores the integration of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into organizations' innovation and new product development processes, focusing on when and how to trust AI-generated outcomes in this context. We propose a framework to assess the level of trust required based on task-specific needs and the distinction between general and expert AI models. While inaccuracies in GenAI outputs can foster creativity during ideation, higher accuracy, and trust are essential for tasks requiring domain-specific expertise. The paper concludes by discussing the necessary human capabilities and organizational strategies for effectively deploying GenAI in innovation management.

Abstract:PurposeThis study examines the existing literature on generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) and its impact across many sectors. This analysis explores the potential, applications, and challenges of Gen AI in driving innovation and creativity and generating ideas.Design/methodology/approachThe study adopts a comprehensive literature review approach, carefully assessing current scientific articles on Gen AI published from 2022 to 2024. The analysis examines trends and insights derived from research.FindingsThe review indicates that Gen AI has significant potential to augment human creativity and innovation processes as a collaborative partner. However, it is imperative to prioritize responsible development and ethical frameworks in order to effectively tackle biases, privacy concerns, and other challenges. Gen AI is significantly transforming business models, processes, and value propositions in several industries, but with varying degrees of effect. Findings indicate also that despite the theory-driven approach to investigating Gen AI's creative and innovative potential, cutting-edge applications research prioritizes examining the possibilities of Gen AI models.Research limitations/implicationsAlthough this review offers a picture of great possibilities, it concurrently underlines the necessity for a deep knowledge of Gen AI nuances to fully harness its capabilities. The findings indicate that continuous research and exploration efforts are required to address the challenges of Gen AI and assure its responsible and ethical implementation. Therefore, more study is needed on enhancing human-AI collaboration and defining ethical norms for varied circumstances.Originality/valueThis study presents a relevant analysis of Gen AI's transformational potential as an innovation catalyst. It emphasizes major potential, applications across industries, and ethical issues for responsible integration.

Abstract:Purpose Most recent C-suite surveying suggests current applications of generative AI, although hyped, are fragmented and unlikely to yield major financial returns anticipated. Instead, business leaders expect major value from generative AI will be achieved through application of generative AI to innovation: operational innovation, product and service innovation, and most elusive of all, business model innovation. Design/methodology/approach Findings and analysis presented draws on data from several surveys of C-level executives conducted by IBM Institute for Business Value in collaboration with Oxford Economics during 2023. Each survey focused on the potential of generative AI in a particular business area. The n-count of each survey ranged from 100-3000. Findings 1. Business leaders expect generative AI to build on returns achieved from investments in traditional AI, with 10 percent RoI expected on generative AI investments by 2025. 2. Executives anticipate that generative AI will have most impact when implemented to expand innovation. 3. Specific examples provided for operational innovation, product innovation, and business model innovation Research limitations/implications We are still very early in the generative AI development cycle. We have made best efforts to project, but only time will tell for sure. Practical implications Business application of generative AI are extremely fragmented. Despite the desire to throw investments at the wall to see what sticks, it is important that leaders take a structured approach to generative AI, focusing on RoI from innovation investments. Social implications To alleviate negative impacts of generative AI, focusing on innovation potential and value maximization is crucial. Originality/value This research is based on completely new surveying and data. This papers adds to the sum total of new knowledge in the generative AI domain.

Abstract:The explosive popularity of ChatGPT around the world gave us the first real tipping point in public acceptance of AI. Finally, everyone, everywhere can see the breakthrough potential of this technology for themselves. Large language models (LLM) and the fundamental models underlying these advances in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) represent a significant turning point. Not only have they cracked the code of language complexity, allowing machines to learn context, infer intent, and be independent creative individuals, but they can be quickly configured to perform a wide variety of different tasks. This technology should fundamentally change everything — from science, business, health care to, in fact, society itself. The positive impact on human creativity and productivity will be enormous. Companies will use these models to rethink the way work is done. Every role in every enterprise has the potential to be reimagined, as AI people working as co-pilots become the norm, greatly expanding their capabilities. Generative AI will affect tasks, not professions. Some of these tasks will be automated, some will be transformed by artificial intelligence, and some will remain unchanged. It can also be expected that humans will face a large number of new challenges, such as ensuring the accurate and responsible use of GenAI systems. That's why organizations that invest in training people to work with generative AI will have a significant advantage.

Abstract:Nowadays, we are witnessing the exponential growth of Generative AI (GenAI), a group of AI models designed to produce new content. This technology is poised to revolutionize marketing research and practice. Since the marketing literature about GenAI is still in its infancy, we offer a technical overview of how GenAI models are trained and how they produce content. Following this, we construct a roadmap for future research on GenAI in marketing, divided into two main domains. The first domain focuses on how firms can harness the potential of GenAI throughout the innovation process. We begin by discussing how GenAI changes consumer behavior and propose research questions at the consumer level. We then connect these emerging consumer insights with corresponding firm marketing strategies, presenting research questions at the firm level. The second set of research questions examines the likely consequences of using GenAI to analyze: (1) the relationship between market-based assets and firm value, and (2) consumer skills, preferences, and role in marketing processes.

Abstract:Abstract The emergence of generative artificial intelligence (AI), exemplified by models like ChatGPT, presents both opportunities and challenges. As these technologies become increasingly integrated into various aspects of society, the need for a harmonized legal framework to address the associated risks becomes crucial. This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the disruptive impact of generative AI, the legal risks of AI-generated content, and the governance strategies needed to strike a balance between innovation and regulation. Employing a three-pronged methodology—literature review, doctrinal legal analysis, and case study integration—the study examines the current legal landscape; synthesizes scholarly works on the technological, ethical, and socioeconomic implications of generative AI; and illustrates practical challenges through real-world case studies. The article assesses the strengths and limitations of US governance strategies for AI and proposes a harmonized legal framework emphasizing international collaboration, proactive legislation, and the establishment of a dedicated regulatory body. By engaging diverse stakeholders and identifying critical gaps in current research, the study contributes to the development of a legal framework that upholds ethical principles, protects individual rights, and fosters responsible innovation in the age of generative AI.

Abstract:Generative AI is regarded as a major disruption to software development. Platforms, repositories, clouds, and the automation of tools and processes have been proven to improve productivity, cost, and quality. Generative AI, with its rapidly expanding capabilities, is a major step forward in this field. As a new key enabling technology, it can be used for many purposes, from creative dimensions to replacing repetitive and manual tasks. The number of opportunities increases with the capabilities of large-language models (LLMs). This has raised concerns about ethics, education, regulation, intellectual property, and even criminal activities. We analyzed the potential of generative AI and LLM technologies for future software development paths. We propose four primary scenarios, model trajectories for transitions between them, and reflect against relevant software development operations. The motivation for this research is clear: the software development industry needs new tools to understand the potential, limitations, and risks of generative AI, as well as guidelines for using it.

Abstract:Organizations across various industries are still exploring the potential of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to enhance knowledge work. While innovation is often viewed as a product of individual creativity, it more commonly unfolds through a highly structured, collaborative process where creativity intertwines with knowledge work. However, the extent and effectiveness of GenAI in supporting this process remain open questions. Our study investigates this issue using a collaborative practice research approach focused on three GenAI-enabled innovation projects conducted over a year within three different organizations. We explored how, why, and when GenAI could be integrated into design sprints, a highly structured, collaborative, and human-centered innovation method. Our research identified challenges and opportunities in synchronizing AI capabilities with human intelligence and creativity. To translate these insights into practical strategies, we propose four recommendations for organizations eager to leverage GenAI to both streamline and bring more value to their innovation processes: (1) establish a collaborative intelligence value loop with GenAI; (2) build trust in GenAI, (3) develop robust data collection and curation workflows, and (4) cultivate a craftsmanship mindset.

Abstract:Generative AI, powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), has the potential to revolutionize human life by automating tasks, fostering creativity, and improving efficiency. In this work, we highlight recent advancements and related studies in generative AI, focusing on its profound impact across diverse domains such as business customization, healthcare, and software development. Key trends are discussed, including the integration of multimodal AI, which combines text, speech, and images to create seamless interactions and enhance user experiences. The growing adoption of generative AI in enterprises, driven by efficiency gains and innovation, underscores its transformative potential in business operations. Furthermore, the evolving regulatory landscape seeks to address ethical and legal challenges posed by AI, particularly in regulating high-risk systems and ensuring transparency and accountability. This study explores three AI-driven systems we developed, using case studies to demonstrate how generative AI transforms routine tasks, making them more efficient and innovative. Usability testing was conducted to assess the performance of these systems, and experimental results validate their effectiveness in automating tasks, personalizing user experiences, and improving operational efficiency. These findings emphasize the growing importance of customized AI solutions in enhancing operational efficiency and meeting specific organizational needs, ultimately leading to significant improvements in both personal and professional settings.

Abstract:Generative AI brings new observations that are essential to new ways of knowing, new ways of finding the law. This article concludes that among the changes wrought by generative AI, society and the legal community will shift their cognitive authority—the resources and techné that are trustworthy for determining what the law is. Movement in cognitive authority impacts the stability of law, which requires a certain permanence of content in the techné -- medium or method -- in which law is recorded and found. Permanence is an issue for generative AI. Furthermore, problems such as hallucination should give the legal community pause in accepting generative AI as authoritative. Nonetheless, the power of generative AI and for psychological reasons, generative AI will undoubtedly make its way into the legal community’s cognitive authority—hence, the shift. Hopefully, other research techné will be utilized to check unbridled faith in generative AI platforms.

Abstract:Propelled by their remarkable capabilities to generate novel and engaging content, Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies are disrupting traditional workflows in many industries. While prior research has examined GenAI from a techno-centric perspective, there is still a lack of understanding about how users perceive and utilize GenAI in real-world scenarios. To bridge this gap, we conducted semi-structured interviews with (N=18) GenAI users in creative industries, investigating the human-GenAI co-creation process within a holistic LUA (Learning, Using and Assessing) framework. Our study uncovered an intriguingly complex landscape: Prospects-GenAI greatly fosters the co-creation between human expertise and GenAI capabilities, profoundly transforming creative workflows; Challenges-Meanwhile, users face substantial uncertainties and complexities arising from resource availability, tool usability, and regulatory compliance; Strategies-In response, users actively devise various strategies to overcome many of such challenges. Our study reveals key implications for the design of future GenAI tools.
