Abstract:The crack propagation law of pre-cracked rock has an essential influence on the overlying rock movement and the stability of roadway surrounding rock during mining. The surrounding rock stability of the mining field is severely affected by the mining pressure. However, the growth of pre-cracked rock cracks has a great influence on the mining pressure. So laboratory experiments and numerical simulations are used to study the crack propagation law and mechanism of pre-cracked rock with different pre-cracked rates. The results indicate that as the cutting rate gradually increases, the peak shear stress strength of the specimen decreases, and the time required for crack propagation from the beginning of loading decreases. Moreover, when the specimen contains a single-sided pre-crack, cracks initiate and propagate in both directions under shear stress, eventually forming a circular crack region. The size of the circular crack region gradually decreases with the increase of the cutting rate. This suggests that as the cutting rate increases, the influence of the fracture process on the integrity of the roadway roof gradually weakens. In the numerical simulation, microcracks develop in the specimen under the action of the shear stress, and the microcracks number decreases with the increase of the cutting rate. The numerical simulation results show good consistency with laboratory experimental results. The research results have important reference value for the stability control of gob-side entry and the popularization and application of non-pillar mining technology.
