Abstract:Following the track of communication between Chinese and western music since ancient times, this paper focuses on the characteristics of music fusion in different times and its hidden social motivations. First, this paper examines the origins of ancient Chinese and Western musical exchanges, such as the Silk Road, which contributed to the collision and integration of cultural ideas; Then, the spotlight turns to modern times, especially during the 20th century, in the face of the expansion of Western cultural forces, how the Chinese musical territory absorbs and transforms the essence of Western music, and this change has a profound impact on the Chinese classical music system. Then, under the blue picture of global integration, the symphonic and symbiotic phenomenon of Chinese and Western music is explored, and its value and significance in building a multi-musical ecological chain is analyzed. The role of music as a tender agent of national diplomacy, a melodic cornerstone of national identity construction, and a resonant voice of social movements is also explored in detail. Through case studies, such as the compositions, movements and music festivals of outstanding musicians, the power of music to transcend geographical and cultural barriers and promote understanding and harmonious coexistence among all ethnic groups is revealed. The interweaving of Chinese and western music is not only a superficial exchange of artistic forms, but also a reflection of profound cultural dialogue and social pulsation. It not only adds new blood to the connotation of music art, but also provides an innovative perspective to ease the cultural friction in the process of globalization. Future research should deepen the exploration of the integration of Chinese and Western music to promote global peace and development.
