Abstract:A novel symplectic algorithm is proposed to solve the Maxwell-Schrödinger(M-S) system for investigating light-matter interaction. Using the fourth-ordersymplectic integration and fourth-order collocated differences,Maxwell-Schrödinger equations are discretized in temporal and spatialdomains, respectively. The symplectic finite-difference time-domain (SFDTD)algorithm is developed for accurate and efficient study of coherent interactionbetween electromagnetic fields and artificial atoms. Particularly, theDirichlet boundary condition is adopted for modeling the Rabi oscillationproblems under the semi-classical framework. To implement the Dirichletboundary condition, image theory is introduced, tailored to the high-ordercollocated differences. For validating the proposed SFDTD algorithm,three-dimensional numerical studies of the population inversion in the Rabioscillation are presented. Numerical results show that the proposed high-orderSFDTD(4,4) algorithm exhibits better numerical performance than theconventional FDTD(2,2) approach at the aspects of accuracy and efficiency forthe long-term simulation. The proposed algorithm opens up a promising waytowards a high-accurate energy-conservation modeling and simulation of complexdynamics in nanoscale light-matter interaction.
On the global well-posedness of the Calogero-Sutherland derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation

Abstract:We consider the Calogero-Sutherland derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the focusing (with sign $+$) and defocusing case (with sign $-$) $$ i\partial_tu+\partial_x^2u\,\pm\,\frac2i\,\partial_x\Pi(|u|^2)u=0\,,\qquad (t,x)\in\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{T}, $$ where $\Pi$ is the Szegő projector $\Pi\left(\sum_{n\in \mathbb{Z}}\widehat{u}(n)\mathrm{e}^{inx}\right)=\sum_{n\geq 0 }\widehat{u}(n)\mathrm{e}^{inx}$. Thanks to a Lax pair formulation, we derive the explicit solution to this equation. Furthermore, we prove the global well-posedness for this $L^2$-critical equation in all the Hardy Sobolev spaces $H^s_+(\mathbb{T}),$ $s\geq0\,,$ with small $L^2$-initial data in the focusing case, and for arbitrarily $L^2$-data in the defocusing case. In addition, we establish the relative compactness of the trajectories in all $H^s_+(\mathbb{T}),$ $s\geq0\,.$

Abstract:We consider the Calogero-Sutherland derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation \begin{equation}\tag{CS} i\partial_tu+\partial_x^2u\,\pm\,\frac{2}{i}\,\partial_x\Pi(|u|^2)u=0\,,\qquad x\in\mathbb{T}\,, \end{equation} where $\Pi$ is the Szegő projector $$\Pi\Big(\sum_{n\in \mathbb{Z}}\widehat{u}(n)\mathrm{e}^{inx}\Big)=\sum_{n\geq 0 }\widehat{u}(n)\mathrm{e}^{inx}\,.$$ First, we characterize the traveling wave $u_0(x-ct)$ solutions to the defocusing equation (CS$^-$), and prove for the focusing equation (CS$^+$), that all the traveling waves must be either the constant functions or plane waves or rational functions. A noteworthy observation is that the (CS)-equation is one of the fewest nonlinear PDE enjoying nontrivial traveling waves with arbitrary small and large $L^2$-norms. Second, we study the finite gap potentials, and show that they are also rational functions, containing the traveling waves, and they can be grouped into sets that remain invariant under the system's evolution.

Abstract:We study the Calogero–Moser derivative nonlinear Schrödinger NLS equation i∂tu+∂xxu+(D+|D|)(|u|2)u=0 posed on the Hardy–Sobolev space H+s(R) with suitable s>0 . By using a Lax pair structure for this L2 ‐critical equation, we prove global well‐posedness for s≥1 and initial data with sub‐critical or critical L2 ‐mass ∥u0∥L22≤2π . Moreover, we prove uniqueness of ground states and also classify all traveling solitary waves. Finally, we study in detail the class of multi‐soliton solutions u(t) and we prove that they exhibit energy cascades in the following strong sense such that ∥u(t)∥Hs∼s|t|2s as t→±∞ for every s>0 .

Abstract:Integrable standard and nonlocal derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations are investigated. The direct and inverse scattering are constructed for these equations; included are both the Riemann–Hilbert and Gel’fand–Levitan–Marchenko approaches and soliton solutions. As a typical application, it is shown how these derivative NLS equations can be obtained as asymptotic limits from a nonlinear Klein–Gordon equation.

Abstract:A spectral problem and the associated hierarchy of Schrodinger type equations are proposed. It is shown that the hierarchy is integrable in Liouville's sense and possesses multi-Hamiltonian structure. It is found that several kinds of important equation such as the Kaup-Newell (KN) equation, the Chen-Lee-Liu (CLL) equation, the Gerdjikov-Ivanov (GI) equation, the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation and the Sharma-Tasso-Olever equation are members in the hierarchy as its special reductions. Moreover, KN, CLL and GI equations are described by using a unified generalized derivative Schrodinger equation involving a parameter, and their Hamiltonian structure and Lax pairs are also given by unified and explicit formulae.
Multiphase solutions and their reductions for a nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equation with focusing nonlinearity

Abstract:A nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equation with focusing nonlinearity is considered which has been derived as a continuum limit of the Calogero-Sutherland model in an integrable classical dynamical system. The equation is shown to stem from the compatibility conditions of a system of linear PDEs, assuring its complete integrability. We construct a nonsingular $N$-phase solution ($N$: positive integer) of the equation by means of a direct method. The features of the one- and two-phase solutions are investigated in comparison with the corresponding solutions of the defocusing version of the equation. We also provide an alternative representation of the $N$-phase solution in terms of solutions of a system of nonlinear algebraic equations. Furthermore, the eigenvalue problem associated with the $N$-phase solution is discussed briefly with some exact results. Subsequently, we demonstrate that the $N$-soliton solution can be obtained simply by taking the long-wave limit of the $N$-phase solution. The similar limiting procedure gives an alternative representation of the $N$-soliton solution as well as the exact results related to the corresponding eigenvalue problem.

Abstract:Symmetric product orbifolds, i.e. permutation orbifolds of the full symmetric group S_{n} are considered by applying the general techniques of permutation orbifolds. Generating functions for various quantities, e.g. the torus partition functions and the Klein-bottle amplitudes are presented, as well as a simple expression for the discrete torsion coefficients.

Abstract:We analyze the energy transfer for solutions to the defocusing cubic nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) initial value problem on 2D irrational tori. Moreover we complement the analytic study with numerical experimentation. As a biproduct of our investigation we also prove that the quasi-resonant part of the NLS initial value problem we consider, in both the focusing and defocusing case, is globally well-posed for initial data of finite mass.

Abstract:In this paper, we study cubic and quintic nonlinear Schrödinger systems on 3-dimensional tori, with initial data in an adapted Hilbert space $H^s_{\underline{\lambda}},$ and all of our results hold on rational and irrational rectangular, flat tori. In the cubic and quintic case, we prove local well-posedness for both focusing and defocusing systems. We show that local solutions of the defocusing cubic system with initial data in $H^1_{\underline{\lambda}}$ can be extended for all time. Additionally, we prove that global well-posedness holds in the quintic system, focusing or defocusing, for initial data with sufficiently small $H^1_{\underline{\lambda}}$ norm. Finally, we use the energy-Casimir method to prove the existence and uniqueness, and nonlinear stability of a class of stationary states of the defocusing cubic and quintic nonlinear Schrödinger systems.

Supersymmetric Calogero-Moser-Sutherland models: superintegrability structure and eigenfunctions

Abstract:We first review the construction of the supersymmetric extension of the (quantum) Calogero-Moser-Sutherland (CMS) models. We stress the remarkable fact that this extension is completely captured by the insertion of a fermionic exchange operator in the Hamiltonian: sCMS models ({\it s} for supersymmetric) are nothing but special exchange-type CMS models. Under the appropriate projection, the conserved charges can thus be formulated in terms of the standard Dunkl operators. This is illustrated in the rational case, where the explicit form of the 4N (N being the number of bosonic variables) conserved charges is presented, together with their full algebra. The existence of 2N commuting bosonic charges settles the question of the integrability of the srCMS model. We then prove its superintegrability by displaying 2N-2 extra independent charges commuting with the Hamiltonian. In the second part, we consider the supersymmetric version of the trigonometric case (stCMS model) and review the construction of its eigenfunctions, the Jack superpolynomials. This leads to closed-form expressions, as determinants of determinants involving supermonomial symmetric functions. Here we focus on the main ideas and the generic aspects of the construction: those applicable to all models whether supersymmetric or not. Finally, the possible Lie superalgebraic structure underlying the stCMS model and its eigenfunctions is briefly considered.

Existence, Uniqueness and Asymptotic Dynamics of Nonlinear Schrödinger Equations With Quasi-Periodic Initial Data: II. The Derivative NLS

Abstract:This is the second part of a two-paper series studying the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with quasi-periodic initial data. In this paper, we focus on the quasi-periodic Cauchy problem for the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Under the assumption that the Fourier coefficients of the initial data obey an exponential upper bound, we establish local existence of a solution that retains quasi-periodicity in space with a slightly weaker Fourier decay. Moreover, the solution is shown to be unique within this class of quasi-periodic functions. Also, we prove that, for the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation in a weakly nonlinear setting, within the time scale, as the small parameter of nonlinearity tends to zero, the nonlinear solution converges asymptotically to the linear solution in the sense of both sup-norm and analytic Sobolev-norm. The proof proceeds via a consideration of an associated infinite system of coupled ordinary differential equations for the Fourier coefficients and an explicit combinatorial analysis for the Picard iteration with the help of Feynman diagrams and the power of $\ast^{[\cdot]}$ labelling the complex conjugate.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the global well-posedness and scattering of 3D defocusing, cubic Schrödinger equation. Recently, Dodson [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2004.09618" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2004.09618">arXiv:2004.09618</a>] studied the global well-posedness in a critical Sobolev space $\dot{W}^{11/7,7/6}$. In this paper, we aim to show that if the initial data belongs to $\dot H^\frac12$ to guarantee the local existence, then some extra weak space which is subcritical, is sufficient to prove the global well-posedness. More precisely, we prove that if the initial data belongs to $\dot{H}^{1/2}\cap \dot{W}^{s,1}$ for $12/13<s \leqslant 1$, then the corresponding solution exists globally and scatters.

Abstract:We present a numerical study of a derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a general power nonlinearity, $|\psi|^{2\sigma}\psi_x$. In the $L^2$-supercritical regime, $\sigma>1$, our simulations indicate that there is a finite time singularity. We obtain a precise description of the local structure of the solution in terms of blowup rate and asymptotic profile, in a form similar to that of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with supercritical power law nonlinearity.
