Abstract:The rare-earth orthoferrite perovskite high-entropy ceramics constitute a recently discovered class of high-entropy oxides featuring single-phase structures. However, the practical application of rare-earth orthoferrite high-entropy ceramics is impeded by high dielectric loss and conductivity. Here, rare-earth orthoferrite high-entropy ceramics Bi0.2La00.2Y0.2Dy0.2Tb0.2Fe1-xTixO3 (x = 0, 0.025, 0.05, and 0.075) were fabricated using the conventional solid-phase method. The ceramic with x = 0.025 shows a reduction in grain size and higher electrical resistivity (256 kΩ). Furthermore, an increase in capacitances at grain boundaries is reported in ceramics with x values exceeding 0.025. The results show that donor doping introduces the presence of free electrons, subsequently enhancing polarization at grain boundaries. This non-equimolar high-entropy approach contributes to a deeper understanding of the unique properties exhibited by rare-earth orthoferrite high-entropy materials.
