Abstract:Quantum teleportation is widely applied as a key ingredient in quantum information science, and quantum network provides unique abilities for upscaling its applications. Polarization state of light is a vital degree of freedom with the advantages of remote transfer and direct light-atom interaction. To construct a multiuser quantum network, deterministic quantum teleportation of polarization state in more users' network remains challenging. Compared with photonic quantum state, the deterministic quantum teleportation network of polarization state is realized with a single set of continuous-variable entangled states. The key techniques include only one set of quadrature entangled network, single quadrature controller, and active polarization controller. Arbitrary polarization state is deterministically and controllably teleported in such a system involving four or three users. Abstract:We propose a linear optical protocol for teleporting a multi(W)-photon Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) polarization-entangled state from a sender to a receiver under control of a number of controllers in terms of optical elements. We show that the protocol can be successfully realized with a certain probability. This protocol has the advantage of transmitting much less particles and classical information for teleporting the W-photon GHZ polarization-state than others, and the protocol is based on linear optical elements and postselection strategy, which are feasible with existing experimental technology.

Abstract:Quantum teleportation is a useful quantum information technology to transmit quantum states between different degrees of freedom. Here we report a quantum state transfer experiment in the linear optical system, transferring a single-photon state in the polarization degree of freedom (DoF) to another photon in the orbital angular momentum (OAM) quantum state via a biphoton OAM entangled channel. Our experimental method is based on quantum teleportation technology. The differences between ours and the original teleportation scheme is that the transfer state is known in ours, and our method is for different particles with different DoFs, while the original one is for different particles with the same DoF. In addition, our present experiment is implemented with a high Bell efficiency since each of the four hybrid-entangled Bell states can be discriminated. Abstract:We propose a feasible scheme for teleporting an arbitrary polarization state or entanglement of photons by requiring only single-photon (SP) sources, simple linear optical elements and SP quantum non-demolition measurements. An unknown SP polarization state can be faithfully teleported either to a duplicate polarization state or to an entangled state. Our proposal can be used to implement long-distance quantum communication in a simple way. The scheme is within the reach of current technology and significantly simplifies the realistc implementation of long-distance high-fidelity quantum communication with photon qubits.

Abstract:Quantum teleportation faces increasingly demanding requirements for transmitting large or even entangled systems. However, knowledge of the state to be transmitted eases its reconstruction, resulting in a protocol known as remote state preparation. A number of experimental demonstrations to date have been restricted to single-qubit systems. We report the remote preparation of two-qubit "hybrid" entangled states, including a family of vector-polarization beams. Our single-photon states are encoded in the photon spin and orbital angular momentum. We reconstruct the states by spin-orbit state tomography and transverse polarization tomography. The high fidelities achieved for the vector-polarization states opens the door to optimal coupling of down-converted photons to other physical systems, such as an atom, as required for scalable quantum networks, or plasmons in photonic nanostructures.

Abstract:To build a global quantum communication network, low-transmission, fiber-based communication channels can be supplemented by using a free-space channel between a satellite and a ground station on Earth. We have constructed a system that generates hyperentangled photonic "ququarts" and measures them to execute multiple quantum communication protocols of interest. We have successfully executed and characterized superdense teleportation, a modified remote-state preparation protocol that transfers more quantum information than standard teleportation, for the same classical information cost, and moreover, is in principle deterministic. Our measurements show an average fidelity of $0.94\pm0.02$, with a phase resolution of $\sim7^{\circ}$, allowing reliable transmission of $>10^5$ distinguishable quantum states. Additionally, we have demonstrated the ability to compensate for the Doppler shift, which would otherwise prevent sending time-bin encoded states from a rapidly moving satellite, thus allowing the low-error execution of phase-sensitive protocols during an orbital pass. Finally, we show that the estimated number of received coincidence counts in a realistic implementation is sufficient to enable faithful reconstruction of the received state in a single pass.

Abstract:A quantum internet connects remote quantum processors that need to interact and exchange quantum signals over a long distance through photonic channels. However, these quantum nodes operate at the wavelength ranges unsuitable for long-distance transmission. Therefore, quantum wavelength conversion to telecom bands is crucial for long-distance quantum networks based on optical fiber. Here, we propose wavelength conversion devices for single-photon polarization qubits using continuous-variable quantum teleportation that can efficiently convert qubits between near-infrared (780–795 nm suitable for interacting with atomic quantum nodes) and telecom wavelength (1300–1500 nm suitable for long-distance transmission). The teleportation uses entangled photon fields (i.e., nondegenerate two-mode squeezed state) that can be generated by four-wave mixing in a rubidium atomic gas using a diamond configuration of atomic transitions. The entangled fields can be emitted in two orthogonal polarizations with locked relative phase, making them especially suitable for interfacing with single-photon polarization qubits. Abstract:Quantum teleportation(1) is central to quantum communication, and plays an important role in a number of quantum computation protocols(2,3). Most information-processing applications of quantum teleportation include the subsequent manipulation of the qubit (the teleported photon), so it is highly desirable to have a teleportation procedure resulting in high-quality, freely flying qubits. In our previous teleportation experiment(4), the teleported qubit had to be detected (and thus destroyed) to verify the success of the procedure. Here we report a teleportation experiment that results in freely propagating individual qubits. The basic idea is to suppress unwanted coincidence detection events by providing the photon to be teleported much less frequently than the auxiliary entangled pair. Therefore, a case of successful teleportation can be identified with high probability without the need actually to detect the teleported photon. The experimental fidelity of our procedure surpasses the theoretical limit required for the implementation of quantum repeaters(5,6).

Abstract:Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are collective excitations of free electrons propagating along a metal-dielectric interface. Although some basic quantum properties of SPPs, such as the preservation of entanglement, the wave-particle duality of a single plasmon, the quantum interference of two plasmons, and the verification of entanglement generation, have been shown, more advanced quantum information protocols have yet to be demonstrated with SPPs. Here, we experimentally realize quantum state teleportation between single photons and SPPs. To achieve this, we use polarization-entangled photon pairs, coherent photon-plasmon-photon conversion on a metallic subwavelength hole array, complete Bell-state measurements and an active feed-forward technique. The results of both quantum state and quantum process tomography confirm the quantum nature of the SPP mediated teleportation. An average state fidelity of 0.889$\pm$0.004 and a process fidelity of 0.820$\pm$0.005, which are well above the classical limit, are achieved. Our work shows that SPPs may be useful for realizing complex quantum protocols in a photonic-plasmonic hybrid quantum network.

Abstract:Quantum teleportation, disembodied transfer of the unknown quantum state between two locations, has been experimentally demonstrated for both discrete and continuous variable states in one degree of freedom (DOF). Generally, multiple DOFs are needed to fully characterize a quantum state. Therefore, to implement intact quantum teleportation, multiple DOFs of quantum state should be teleported simultaneously. Recently, teleporting a single photon encoded in two DOFs has been experimentally demonstrated in discrete variable regime. However, the teleportation of more than two DOFs remains unexplored. Here, by utilizing continuous variable hyperentanglement in four DOFs (azimuthal and radial indexes of Laguerre-Gaussian mode, frequency, and polarization), we experimentally demonstrate deterministic all-optical quantum teleportation of four DOFs. Moreover, we experimentally construct 24 parallel teleportation channels. Abstract:Quantitative control of spatial indistinguishability of identical subsystems as a direct quantum resource at distant sites has not yet been experimentally proven. We design a setup capable of tuning remote spatial indistinguishability of two independent photons by individually adjusting their spatial distribution in two distant regions, leading to polarization entanglement from uncorrelated photons. This is achieved by spatially localized operations and classical communication on photons that meet only at the detectors. The amount of entanglement depends uniquely on the degree of spatial indistinguishability, quantified by an entropic measure I, which enables teleportation with fidelities above the classical threshold. The results open the way to viable indistinguishability-enhanced quantum information processing.
Teleportation-based microwave-optical quantum transduction enhanced by squeezing

Abstract:Quantum transduction is an important building block for quantum networking. Although various platforms have been proposed, the efficiency of the-state-of-the-art systems is still way below the threshold to provide robust quantum information transduction via a direct conversion approach. In [Phys. Rev. Applied 16, 064044 (2021)], we propose a transduction paradigm based on continuous-variable quantum teleportation that shows a much higher rate in the low cooperativitiy region. While more recently, [Phys. Rev. Research 4, L042013 (2022)] proposes to utilize microwave squeezing to assist direct conversion. In this work, we explore the role of squeezing in a teleportation-based transduction protocol and identify a significant performance boost via evaluating quantum capacity lower and upper bounds. Our analyses include both microwave squeezing and optical squeezing, and provide a systematical benchmark between the teleportation-based approach and direct conversion approach. Although with the help of large squeezing, the difference between the teleportation-based protocol and direct conversion protocol becomes smaller, teleportation-based protocol still provides an overall better performance in the practical cooperativity region. In particular, the teleportation-based approach is more robust against imperfect extraction efficiency, even compared with direct conversion with the optimal squeezing.

Abstract:The experimental scheme for controlled quantum teleportation of tripartite GHZ-like state is presented. With the entanglement generating through the interaction between the quantum dots in microcavities and a single photon, the controlled teleportation can be realized by virtue of Faraday rotation, single photon detection and electron spin orientation measurement. The success probability of the scheme can reach 1 if the cavities are switchable to choice the appropriate Faraday rotation angle. The scheme can be easily generalized to the teleportation of multipartite GHZ-like state.

Abstract:Quantum teleportation 1 , a way to transfer the state of a quantum system from one location to another, is central to quantum communication 2 and plays an important role in a number of quantum computation protocols 3 , 4 , 5 . Previous experimental demonstrations have been implemented with single photonic 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 or ionic qubits 12 , 13 . However, teleportation of single qubits is insufficient for a large-scale realization of quantum communication and computation 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 . Here, we present the experimental realization of quantum teleportation of a two-qubit composite system. In the experiment, we develop and exploit a six-photon interferometer to teleport an arbitrary polarization state of two photons. The observed teleportation fidelities for different initial states are all well beyond the state estimation limit of 0.40 for a two-qubit system 14 . Not only does our six-photon interferometer provide an important step towards teleportation of a complex system, it will also enable future experimental investigations on a number of fundamental quantum communication and computation protocols 3 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 .
Quantum teleportation between a continuous-variable optical qumode and a discrete-variable solid-state qubit

Abstract:Quantum teleportation is a fundamental ingredient for quantum information science and technology. In particular, the ability to perform quantum teleportation between quantum systems of different natures and encoding types is crucial for building complex systems, such as distributed quantum internet. Here we propose a scheme to teleport a continuous variable optical qubit, encoded in an optical qumode by means of a superposed coherent state, onto a discrete variable solid-state qubit, associated with a single nitrogen-vacancy center spin in diamond, via a hybrid entanglement. By using a newly developed method for Bell-state measurement, which relies only on light homodyne detection and spin polarization measurement, near-deterministic and -perfect quantum teleportation can be achieved for large coherent-state amplitude input. Taking noise effects into account, we find that the average teleportation fidelity can still exceed the classical limit, enabling substantial teleportation distances under realistic experimental conditions.

Abstract:We propose a new linear optical protocol for remote state preparation (RSP) between two parties under control of a number of controllers in terms of optical elements. The proposed setup involves simple linear optical elements, a N-photon polarization entangled state, and photon de tectors, witch have been widely used in experiment. The realization of this protocol is appealing due to the fact that quantum state of light is robust against the decoherence and photons are ideal carriers for transmitting quantum information over long distances.

Abstract:Abstract Quantum teleportation is an essential capability for quantum networks, allowing the transmission of quantum bits (qubits) without a direct exchange of quantum information. Its implementation between distant parties requires teleportation of the quantum information to matter qubits that store it for long enough to allow users to perform further processing. Here we demonstrate long distance quantum teleportation from a photonic qubit at telecom wavelength to a matter qubit, stored as a collective excitation in a solid-state quantum memory. Our system encompasses an active feed-forward scheme, implementing a conditional phase shift on the qubit retrieved from the memory, as required by the protocol. Moreover, our approach is time-multiplexed, allowing for an increase in the teleportation rate, and is directly compatible with the deployed telecommunication networks, two key features for its scalability and practical implementation, that will play a pivotal role in the development of long-distance quantum communication.
