Abstract:This study was conducted to examine the culture of tea from Guizhou Province, including the history, the producing areas and the kinds of Guizhou tea, which is emerging as a new interest. China, the hometown of tea, has abundant human and material resources and there are countless kinds of tea produced here. The Southwestern area of China is the origin of tea tree and tea grown and produced in 26 provinces, China ranks top in the area and the production, globally. Based on the regional and cultural history in the major tea producing areas, the production and the area of luxury tea with the best quality are rapidly increasing. In addition to Fujian Province, Zhejiang Province, Anhui Province, Hunan Province and Yunnan Province that have risen to the rank of the top tea producing areas, this study is focused on the tea industry of Guizhou Province, where is coming into the spotlight these days. Guizhou Province, located in Yungui Plateau(雲貴高原) of the Southwestern area of China, is recognized as the origin of tee tree and according to 『The Classic of Te a』, historically, this is recorded as the producing area of luxury tea. This tea was also a tribute to the imperial family. Due to many circumstances, this province did not come to the front as the producing area of luxury tea, But with the fastest expansion of the tea production area, this province has the widest cultivation area and it seems the increase is accelerating more. The reason why this is possible is as the tea cultivation area, Guizhou has the best nature, the tea culture has its own historical tradition and the government of Guizhou Province has actively been supporting and managing. The ultimate purpose of this study is to examine Zunyi City, Meitan County and Fenggang County, where are the major tea producing regions of Guizhou Province, the major tea producing district(tea sea, tea sea s heart) and the representative tea brand, tree green one red(Three green tea and One red tea: 三綠一紅), and to understand the situation of the tea industry in Guizhou.
