Abstract:Summary In this article, we deal with Riemann’s improper integral [1], using the Mizar system [2], [3]. Improper integrals with finite values are discussed in [5] by Yamazaki et al., but in general, improper integrals do not assume that they are finite. Therefore, we have formalized general improper integrals that does not limit the integral value to a finite value. In addition, each theorem in [5] assumes that the domain of integrand includes a closed interval, but since the improper integral should be discusses based on the half-open interval, we also corrected it.

Abstract:The goal of this work is to present a new theoretical and simultaneously practical approach to the conception of improper integrals of type II and, consequently, to improper integrals of type I. Seven distinct definitions of improper integrals of type II are presented, each illustrated by suitable examples. Among them, particularly important are those defined on nets composed of sets symmetric with respect to points belonging to a given finite family of points. Connections between improper integrals of type II defined here are described in two main theorems. It should be emphasized that all definitions of improper integrals presented here are special cases of a very general definition of improper integrals on non-compact sets, which is presented at the end of this work. This definition is inspired by a concept introduced by Maurin.

Abstract:In this paper, we explore the improper integral with exponential function f = xx is approached to infinite series, and also prove the convergence of these series. An improper integral converges if the limit defining it exists. We use Maple code to calculate the infinite series. The application of improper integral appear in several domain in science. As an application in this paper, three examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of our main result.

The author has been working on formalizing Fubini’s theorem over the past few years [4], [6] in the Mizar system [7], [1]. As a result, Fubini’s theorem (30) was proved in complete form by this article.
Analytical Solution to Improper Integral of Divergent Power Functions Using The Riemann Zeta Function

Abstract:This paper presents an analytical closed-form solution to improper integral $\mu(r)=\int_0^{\infty} x^r dx$, where $r \geq 0$. The solution technique is based on splitting the improper integral into an infinite sum of definite integrals with successive integer limits. The exact solution of every definite integral is obtained by making use of the binomial polynomial expansion, which then allows expression of the entire summation equivalently in terms of a weighted sum of Riemann zeta functions. It turns out that the solution fundamentally depends on whether or not $r$ is an integer. If $r$ is a non-negative integer, then the solution is manifested in a finite series of weighted Bernoulli numbers, which is then drastically simplified to a second order rational function $\mu(r)=(-1)^{r+1}/(r+1)(r+2)$. This is achieved by taking advantage of the relationships between Bernoulli numbers and binomial coefficients. On the other hand, if $r$ is a non-integer real-valued number, then we prove $\mu(r)=0$ by the virtue of the elegant relationships between zeta and gamma functions and their properties.

Abstract:An improper integral is a definite integral that either has an infinite interval or has the integrand that is not defined on some points in the interval. Many improper integrals are difficult to compute by using real analysis methods, especially those containing infinity. By contrast, introducing the complex methods and applying Cauchy’s residue theorem can give a much more simplified solution. In order to apply Cauchy’s residue theorem, the residues of the integrand at the singularities that are interior to the contour are first to be found, then the integral along the whole simple closed contour can be evaluated. These contours always consist of line segments and sectors of circle. In most cases, only the part of contour on the real axis is related to the real definite integral, and other parts should be eliminated by proving it tendency to a certain value where most commonly it is zero. This is always done by considering the property of the integrand or using Jordan lemma.

Abstract:Abstract The calculation of improper integral is of great importance. In this paper, we consider a kind of real improper integral using the method of complex analysis and prove the equation ∫ 0 ∞ x α ( 1 + x β ) x d x = π β sin α π β . Firstly we give the condition for the convergence of the improper integral ∫ 0 ∞ x α ( 1 + x β ) x d x when 0 < α < β , so we can see the integrand as a complex function. This function is defined on a simply connected set not containing zero to ensure that the function is holomorphic. We use three methods to prove the equation. In the first method, we choose a certain closed path as the boundary of the simply connected set, compute the integral along the path by the Residue Formula according to Cauchy’s Theorem, and obtain the value of the real improper integral. In the second method, we use Mellin transform, while the idea is similar to that of the Residue Formula. In the third method, we find that the path we choose becomes simpler by a variable substitution. The function that is integrated along the new path does not have the problem of multivaluedness, so we do not have to define it on a simply connect set. Moreover, using the method of complex analysis, we prove that the equation holds when α, β are complex numbers, and the condition is about the real parts of α and β, i.e., 0 < R α < R β . The real improper integral is just a particular case where α, β are real numbers. We compute the value of such kind of complex improper integral by some calculation and simplification, which is exactly π β sin α π β . We find the relationship between this integral and gamma function. The equation can prove a property of gamma function. We prove that the equation holds when α, β are complex numbers, and the condition becomes 0 < R α < R β . We hope that this can be used in the research of more properties of the gamma function. The proof of the equation reminds us of a way of calculating such kinds of real improper integrals.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a numerical method of computing Hadamard finite-part integrals with an integral power singularity at the endpoint on a half infinite interval, that is, a finite value assigned to a divergent integral with an integral power singularity at the endpoint on a half infinite interval. In the proposed method, we express a desired finite-part integral using a complex integral, and we obtain the integral by evaluating the complex integral by the DE formula. Theoretical error estimate and some numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:Summary The goal of this article is to show Fubini’s theorem for non-negative or non-positive measurable functions [10], [2], [3], using the Mizar system [1], [9]. We formalized Fubini’s theorem in our previous article [5], but in that case we showed the Fubini’s theorem for measurable sets and it was not enough as the integral does not appear explicitly. On the other hand, the theorems obtained in this paper are more general and it can be easily extended to a general integrable function. Furthermore, it also can be easy to extend to functional space L p [12]. It should be mentioned also that Hölzl and Heller [11] have introduced the Lebesgue integration theory in Isabelle/HOL and have proved Fubini’s theorem there.

Abstract:The discrete and continuous dependencies’ relationship question has been investigated. An algorithm for determining the final and total series sums through the equivalence ratio of the series common term an and the an-model function improper integral mean value within the change unit interval based on the extended integral Cauchy convergence criterion has been developed. Examples of determining for the statistical sum in the Boltzmann distribution, for the first time directly expressed through an-model function. This eliminates the need for calculations to accumulate the sum of the series up to a value that is specified by a certain accuracy of this sum. In addition, it allows in this case to vary the energy variation interval with any given accuracy. The conducted studies allow solving both theoretical and practical problems of physics and materials science, directly using the Boltzmann distribution (energy spectrum) to calculate the entropy, which determines the loss of thermal energy in technological processes.

Abstract:We study approximations of Riemann–Liouville type integrals on the interval . The approximation method involves an operator constructed by replacing the density of the integral with partial sums of Fourier–Chebyshev series. Integral representations and estimates of these approximations are established for the cases in which the density belongs to some classes of continuous functions. The estimates substantially depend on the position of the point on the interval.

An incomplete Riemann Zeta function as a fractional integral

Abstract:An incomplete Riemann zeta function can be expressed as a lower-bounded, improper Riemann-Liouville fractional integral, which, when evaluated at $0$, is equivalent to the complete Riemann zeta function. Solutions to Landau's problem with $\zeta(s) = \eta(s)/0$ establish a functional relationship between the Riemann zeta function and the Dirichlet eta function, which can be represented as an integral for the positive complex half-plane, excluding the pole at $s = 1$. This integral can be related to a lower-bounded Riemann-Liouville fractional integral directly via Cauchy's Formula for repeated integration extended to the complex plane with improper bounds. In order to establish this relationship, however, specific existence conditions must be met. The incomplete Riemann zeta function as a fractional integral has some unique properties that other representations lack: First, it obeys the semigroup property of fractional integrals; second, it allows for an additional functional relationship to itself through differentiation in other regions of convergence for its fractional integral representation. The authors suggest development of the Riemann zeta function using this representation and its properties.

Abstract:The values of the Riemann zeta function at odd positive integers, $\zeta(2n+1)$, are shown to admit a representation proportional to the finite-part of the divergent integral $\int_0^{\infty} t^{-2n-1} \operatorname{csch}t\,\mathrm{d}t$. Integral representations for $\zeta(2n+1)$ are then deduced from the finite-part integral representation. Certain relations between $\zeta(2n+1)$ and $\zeta'(2n+1)$ are likewise deduced, from which integral representations for $\zeta'(2n+1)$ are obtained.

Abstract:In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2406.0243" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2406.0243">arXiv:2406.0243</a> two real functions $g(x,t)$ and $f(x,t)$ are defined, so that the Riemann-Siegel $Z$ function is given as \[Z(t)=\mathop{\mathrm{Re}}\Bigl\{\frac{u(t)e^{\frac{\pi i}{8}}}{\frac12+it}\int_0^\infty g(x,t)e^{i f(x,t)}\,dt\Bigr\},\] where $u(t)$ is a real function of order $t^{-1/4}$ when $t\to+\infty$. The function $g(x,t)$ is indefinitely differentiable and tends to $0$ as well as all its derivatives when $x\to0^+$ or $x\to+\infty$. Since, furthermore, for $t\to+\infty$ the function $f(x,t)$ tends to $+\infty$ we may expect that the integral depends essentially on the behavior of $g(x,t)$ at the extremes. As Polya in an analogous situation we consider the substitution of $\psi(x)$ by a simpler similar function. And still we have the possibility to get a better result improving $\psi_0(x)$. This is a preliminary version, and we set it as a challenge: to compute and study this integral.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a numerical method for computing Hadamard finite-part integrals with an integral-power singularity at an endpoint, the part of the divergent integral which is finite as a limiting procedure. In the proposed method, we express the desired finite-part integral using a complex loop integral, and obtain the finite-part integral by evaluating the complex integral by the trapezoidal rule. Theoretical error estimate and some numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:We present new closed-form expressions for certain improper integrals of Mathematical Physics such as certain Ising, Box, and Associated integrals. The techniques we employ here include (a) the Method of Brackets and its modifications and suitable extensions to obtain the Mellin–Barnes representation. (b) The evaluation of the resulting Mellin–Barnes representations via the recently discovered Conic Hull method via the automated package MBConichulls.wl . Finally, the analytic continuations of these series solutions are then produced using the automated package Olsson.wl , based on the method of Olsson. Thus, combining all these recent advances allows for closed-form evaluation of the hitherto unknown , and related integrals in terms of multi-variable hypergeometric functions. Along the way, we also discuss certain complications while using the Original Method of Brackets for these evaluations and how to rectify them. The interesting case of is also studied. It is not yet fully resolved for the reasons we discuss in this paper.
