Current Status and Tasks of Sharing and Cooperation in Liberal Education between Universities in Korea

Abstract:Recently, in a situation where Korean universities are being asked to take a qualitative leap forward in the face of various domestic and international challenges, the reality is that the awareness of crisis at universities outside the metropolitan area is becoming higher. Therefore, this study is one way to respond to such a crisis, in which local universities share the strengths and resources of each university's education while being faithful to the original role of higher education through sharing and cooperation of liberal education between universities. To this end, the present status and tasks of sharing and cooperation among local universities in Korea were explored in a theoretical and empirical way. First, we examine the intrinsic value of liberal education and divide the elements that are undermining it in today's higher education reality into structural problems of liberal education and internal elements of liberal education. Second, we introduce the current status of sharing and cooperation between local universities dividing it into three sharing university models and three sub-action plans. In the process, tasks to be solved were discussed, focusing on the empirical problems.
