The Nubian heritage and its impact on contemporary plastic art

Abstract:The Nubian heritage is ancient, the Nubian civilization,whose roots extend back to more than two thousand yearsbefore the birth of Christ, and which is considered thepride of Egypt, but rather of Africa as a whole.Where the ancient Nubia extended from the firstwaterfall in Aswan to the fifth cataract before thebeginning of the bending of the Nile, and people lived onthis narrow strip on the Nile, which extends about fivehundred kilometers. It withstood and remainedthroughout the ages, despite the exposure of the Nubiansin their different geographical regions to many intrusionsand cultural interactions.There is also no more important and urgent element andingredient in the context of preserving the Nubian culturethan the language, according to what Dr. Venus Fouad, acritic and plastic artist, explains, referring to the role andvalue of the Nubian language, and the need to work onreviving and developing it, expressing her happiness thatall the candidates’ programs For the presidency in Egypt,he shed light on the problems of the Nuba and theattention to it, and demanded that we shed light on theimportance of the Nubian language, because it hasbecome threatened with extinction.
